Best free antivirus?

So I am new to Windows, that the best free antivirus to use who will pick things well and secure web browsing? Right now I use AVG but is it better?

The FREE program MalwareBytes' Anti-malware is only a scanner at the request (good), but it does not provide a real-time protection.

You should only use an anti-malware program that offers protection in real time at any time otherwise that you performance and system stability issues. You can use a scanner to the request as MalwareBytes' Anti-malware (FREE) to perform periodic analyses as an additional check of your system.

I have a Qosmio X 770 with NVidia 3D playback. I'm looking for the best free video player for playback of video clips 2D to 3D.

Toshiba Video Player works fine, but I can't get it to play files in MP4 - AVC format. Is it possible to add codecs so it will play other formats?

NVIDIA 3D Vision Player don't play all formats but when in 3D mode, there is no access to the commands. Volume can be set with the function keys and video can be suspended with combinations of keys that do not forget, but you can not fast to the front/back or access the slider to change the video position.

Both are reasonable solutions, but none is perfect. Is there a better option out there? I tried StereoscopicPlayer but could not operate and it is limited to 5 minutes of play in any case.

I recently uninstalled avast free antivirus, I installed avg free instead. Whenever I start my pc, I get a pop up window that says... Personally, I think you're better off with Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials on AVG, but try to run this tool to get rid of all traces of Avast.

Avoid all the registry cleaners like the plague - they are free
or not. Registry cleaning programs are all snake oil. Cleaning of

and what registry cleaning software vendors try to convince you,
have unused registry entries is not really make you hurt.
The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner by mistake
delete an entry you need is much greater than any potential benefit
    It can have.

Let me stress that neither me nor anyone else who warns the
use of registry cleaners never said that they always cause
problems. If they have always caused problems, they would disappear from
the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
cleaner and never had a problem with it.

The problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it
the risk of a significant problem. And since there is no
benefits of using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad
    good deal.

  • Which free antivirus for vista 64-bit?

    Hello

I run my 32-bit vista & McAfee for more than 18 months.

I intend to do a clean install of vista 64-bit and would be very grateful for advice on viral protection.

First option: continue with the paid version of McAfee & I wonder if that supports 64-bit?

    OR

Option two: choose a free antivirus protection software that is available for VISTA 64-bit. If possible can direct me in the sense for me to download an installer on a cd, so that I can install that after my own install of the 64 bit OS before connect me with fully protected internet.

    Thanking you.

Try 8 AVG or Avast. I have both running on a different version of X 64. X 64 Visat avast and AVG 8 on win 7 X 64 are very well-known and respected.

  • AVG free antivirus or microsoft security essentials! What is the best?

Ive got a dell inspiron 1525 and I have windows vista 32 bit. I don't know if I have to use security essentials package or avg anti-virus. I can also use the mcafee security suite. I just need some experienced or professional advice and appreciate it if someone could help me! Thank you!

Everyone has their own personal likes/dislikes to security programs!
You opened a can of worms!

And security Suites(Norton, Trend, McAfee) are just Bloatware.
They try to be everything to everyone and fail.
They also use a lot of your system resources to run.

I do not use one of them; AVG or MSE.
There are bad reports about the compatibility of the 9.0 AVG and MSE is a new kid on the block.
I'll wait and see how MSE pans.

    I use builtin Vista Firewall.

    I use Avast AV:

    http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

Avast anti-virus is XP, Vista and Windows 7 compatible, FREE, automatic update, and a user of low resources from your computer.

And, don't have 1 (one) anti-virus installed / running on your computer at any time.

Conflicts, crash and freezing may occur if you have more than 1 (one).

    And for an Anti-malware program:

    http://www.Malwarebytes.org/MBAM.php

Malwarebytes is as its name suggests, a Malware Remover!

Download the free Version from the link above.

Download, install, upgrade and scan once a fortnight.

    Something for you to think.
Once others have also responded, weigh the pros and cons of each.

    See you soon.
