BIOHD-2 error

I have a Pavilion 6210f which began to give me a black screen with "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key_".  Running the BIOS indicates "none" under the playlists by car.  Run PC doctor diagnostics check the CPU and RAM, but returns error BIOHD-2 for hard drive.

Traded to old drive hard with a good drive from another machine and BIOS did not recognize.  Power on all cables SATA and tried all different SATA and powerconnections ports and no change.  I tried a new hard drive and the BIOS does not detect either (although I could check that drive did turn.)

I put the original disc in another computer and BIOS detected it and car seemed fine, all the files.  But it do not start the machine.

I can't find recovery discs. I am at a loss to know what to do next.  The BIOS might be corrupted?  How update the BIOS without an operating system that works?  Could this be the motherboard?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Mike

OK, reinstalled windows and have a computer to work again!  Thanks for all your help!

HP Pavilion FK484AV-ABA, model m4900t running windows 7 64 bit. The RAID-1 configuration.

PC crashed. Cannot restart. Starting cold, received error message failure of RAID-1 and two hard drives. PC-Doctor ran and received the following diagnoses:

Processor, memory, drives hard all OK.

    Diagnosis of startup path

    Error code: BIOHD-2

    ATTENTION: No disk is detected.

Suggestion: Turn off the system and check the drive cables are attached firmly.

Given that the PC-Doctor verified that both drives are OK, I'm assuming that the cables were also OK. Any suggestions on what may be the problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Go into the BIOS to see if the discs are recognized. Post your results here.

This is an unusual condition for PC Doktor to report. Normally a BIOHD-2 error code means that a hard drive has failed, but I have no doubt that both drives failed at the same time.

  • HP Pavilion A6500f - product KQ495AA-ABA-BIOHD 3 error-DVD and HDD as SATA 3 & 4

BIOHD 3 error when diags are run.  BIOS sees DVD / HDD SATA 4/3.  DED/HDD plugged in Sata 2/1. Only 4 Sata ports but bios sees Sata 1-6.  If I plug the DVD/HDD in Sata 4/3, then Bios considers Sata 6/5.  Failed to get 1/2 Sata to see all readers.  Replacement battery Cmos and tried clearing Cmos.  No help.  Suspect the original hard drive is good but the new hard disk was even no problem starting.  For the hard drive setup disk does not start on DVD if new hard drive can not be put in place.  Can select HDD or dvd in startup path but still does not start on dvd or hard drive.  Any ideas?

SATA 3/4 are correct.  1/2 SATA are reserved for IDE devices.  A bad DVD player has caused the problem.  He was apparently suspended the bus and prevents the system from the bootable device recognition.  A new DVD SATA enabled to start and so to reload the operating system.

Any help appreciated to get this unit up and running to back up my files on the desktop!

    Thank you, Marty

FYI and this can help other institutions; I went to a technical support at Staples for options.

They checked the unit possibility of recovering files to the user free of charge.

The Tech pulled the side cover, something plugged in and all my files reappeared on his monitor.

Make a complete copy of all the files is $69.99 (on their records or to your external drive, takes a few days).

I opted for the copy of all the files and they will check the disk drive in the process.

In the meantime, I'll check your video instructions that you so graciously provided.

    Thanks & many congratulations!, Marty

  • Biohd-8 error in the drive

One day I tried to install a window in my PC, then there was a problem occurred in slice, it was taking too long then I selects dignose option that appears in when we star the PC then trial was the beginning and on the second cd drive test it was a source of the error that has been BIOHD-8. I tried to remove it, but it had no effect on the error. Now what to do to remove this error?

If you are referring to a BIOHD-8 error that has been the result of a disk tests hard, then that would indicate either failure or im waiting for the failure. Replace the hard drive with a new hard drive or SSD that is compatible with your desktop computer.

Please explain what you mean by 'the second test cd player '.

  • hard disc BIOHD-7 error

Is there anyway to solve this problem without changing the hard drive?

I'll be able to use the recovery discs if I change the hard drive?

    Dear customer,

Welcome to the Support Forum HP and we are happy to help you.

Looks like you are not able to start the operating system on your laptop.

We will surely help you with that.

According to the error message that you posted it is a hardware problem and drive hard need to be replaced

Please Contact HP if your HP laptop is under warranty, HP would replace the failed hard disk drive and provide recovery media to restore the operating system to factory after the replacement (if you have not yet created recovery disks/USB support)

You can also check your warranty here to check the status of the guarantee

Back up any personal data on an external drive if possible. Otherwise, you can connect the HDD defective via SATA USB adapter with another PC or a PC even after replacing the HARD drive & put in place of the operating system and try to copy / retrieve files.

  • HP Pavilion Elite m9515y: BIOHD-8 error message

When I called HP they told me that the error indicates that the motherboard is bad. Everywhere I look I read that it is more likely the hard. HP said, buy another computer. The computer will not start at the top. When I ran the diagnosis I got the BIOHD-8 Smart Test failed on the message to disk. It does not "System recovery." I can go to Diagnostics (F9), Setup (F10) and Boot (ESC) only. The computer is 4 years old, however, if it is not necessary to replace that I'd rather not. Your thoughts and ideas are appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for your comments. I am currently working on the issues. I took the computer into pieces at Office Max. Once the computer was reassembled the processor doesn't work anymore. Technology has suggested that the motherboard may have gone wrong and further than static discharged can be delt a final blow to the computer. I do not know. I'm just a newbie to these things. Rather than pour more money, looks like I'm going to buy another computer. Not what I was hoping. Thanks again.

    Hello
I would suggest to run Startup Repair and check if it helps:

  • HP Pavilion a6645f no hard drive detected BIOHD-2 error

1st off I'm no computer expert... so I really have no idea what I'm doing, but I've been looking online to the best of my ability and try everything that I have seen that I can understand how to solve the problems.

First of all, I got the cursor flashing at the top left of a black screen, now I get the boot failure message, insert the disc... I did that dance together and nothing comes of it.  Error cannot be fixed with the scan that it allows me to do using the system disk, I did.

I managed to access a screen that informed me that I have this error BIOHD-2, no hard drive not detected.

    It's a Seagate Barracuda HD 500 GB 7200.11

I removed the Panel and went there... insured all caps were closed, tried a different SATA port... and when I go into the BIOS I can not get the comp to recognize any HD is connected... all read 0 MB.

From my research I found information contradictory on this... some sound like its without a doubt a HD - sound problem is, some say it could be a motherboard problem?  Is - it necessarily one or the other based on the info I gave?  I read that I should try to connect the HD to another PC with a SATA port, but this will affect any PC I plug it somehow? Let's say another computer detects the HD when I look in the BIOS, I'll be able to extract all the files and programs from there? How will I know if the motherboard is the issue and not the HD? As ports have bad or the taking of the HD to the motherboard maybe? It is even probable, if yes?

What if it is the HD, and I can install an old HD work? Is there a way I could try to extract anything from the Seagate which is in there now?  Unfortunately, the only things that I backed up on an external are some pictures and a few digital scrapbooking files.

Still, I'm NOT a computer person so half may not even be English in computer science, but I hope I made sense. Laughing out loud

Oh, and I'm no longer in warranty... HP told me when I called this past weekend when it happened. PC is about 3 or 4 years... don't remember not that December it was bought in.

Thanks to all those who have actually tried to read and give a sense of my mess

    semperfibc,

    Thank you for your service.

Several years ago, Seagate had a problem of firmware with the Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 drives. The reader would cease all features. Your beyond any warranty on this drive, and have no options that are financially reasonable.

Now, you need to install a replacement drive.

I hope you did your ONCE one Recovery DVD. Otherwise, you will need to buy them from HP.

You can try an external SATA to USB box with this old disc, but there is no guarantee.

  • BIOHD-7 error code

After reading some of the forums on this error code, I think I'll have to buy a new hard drive. I was hoping that if I got the HP recovery kit I was able to fix mine. I also got a 0xef0003 error code. I tried to use the built in recovey but no luck. now all I have is a black screen that says no bootable disk. so I is a 2 part question.

    1. If I buy a new hard drive will it take the recovery kit HP offers? I have no disk backup.

2 and I can up grade hard drive? say a 1 to maybe 2 with to make any other update to the computer?

    Btheone, welcome to the forum.

You are right that the hard drive has failed.  The maximum hard disk supported by Windows 7 is 2 GB.  Yes, you have the recovery disks provided by HP.

Here's a guide for you help restore the system after replacing the hard drive.  Read it carefully before buying the new hard drive.

  • biohd-8 error

I have the same problem.  It was beautiful and I stopped him for the night and the next morning, the computer froze.  I couldn't do anything that the little blue circle was running.

I accepted a change in the registry when I used a program lately.  What is a registry problem?

Help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

    Scrabbleuse, welcome to the forum.

This error code means that your hard drive is defective or has failed.  You can run the BIOS CHIP to ensure.  The only thing you can do to solve the problem, it's replacing the drive.  You should buy one that is the same size or larger that the current drive or system recovery disks do not work.

Please click on the Thumbs up button '+' if I helped you and click on "Accept as Solution" If your problem is resolved.

  • Planned hard drive failure - BIOHD-7 error code

I inherited this machine to a family member when they panicked after seeing the error message... Hard drive failure... back up your data and replace your drive.  According to the newspapers, the drive does not have a single "smart test.  I'm not convinced that the player is in danger of failure - especially if it didn't happen in the three months since the first error.  Is it possible to 'clear' this error so he'll leave me to press F2 to start?

If you value your data, then buy a new drive hard $50.

  • BIOHD - 8 error on m9510f with a Baracuda 750 GB

At the start of my machine, it does nothing.  I have to press the power button to restart.  Even in safe mode, the machine does the same thing.  I ran the hp diagnostic and the CPU, test of good memory, but the HD gives an ErrorCode BIOHD - 8.

Help... where should I go from here?

You might want to try a full restore HP using HP recovery disks.  Back up your data before trying a first recovery.

If the recovery work, then see if the Seagate has a firmware update for the drive of your model.  It was not clear if you did update the hard drive if is available.
