BIOS does not see the parameters hhd

I have a hp laptop Pavilion dv6 PC with i5 2.4 GHz CPU, 4 GB of RAM and 500 GB

WD Scorpio Black SATA WD 5000 BEKT hhd. The computer had a connection to a device problem "." Hhd tests I ran show "without detected hhd. Insyde H20 BIOs version 1.23 doesn't even include all the parameters hhd or watch any hhd not at all on the computer. This laptop just stopped one day of work. so far, I came with: (1) BIOS corrupted. (2) SATA driver missing or corrupt; (3) controller on the MOBO bad hhd; or (4) hhd itself bad.

He does not turn upward, and very hot and its spin accelerates sometimes at a very fast pace. HHD SMART and other tests have failed (no hhd). So the hhd is certainly not detected. I need to know why and what to do about this.

Thanks for any help

Thanks a lot for your help. It is a very useful help forum. I will now close this thread as RESOLVED.

For my Presario 6620DK, I bought a Western Digital 160 GB PATA HARD drive, which I want to install instead of the original Samsung SV0602H 60 GB ATA-100.

Unfortunately, bios does not see the new HD. If I'm on the old hard drive, it is recognized by the bios.

I have the jumper in the right position for Cable Select.

What do I have to get new HD work?

    Hi, Arne:

There is the outside possiblilty of the drive is bad.

You have another PC, you can test it in?

You have a 120 GB of HARD drive, you can test in the PC?

If she sees the 120 GB HARD drive and not 160 GB HARD drive, then you have your answer.

  • BIOS does not see the drive

I have a laptop Inspiron 6400 which continually blue screens with Memory_management stop code 1.  I am able to boot from a Linux CD without problem.  The Dell diagnostics are all successful except the one HARD drive.  The BIOS executes engines a A015 and A017 is later, but I'm not able to start long enough to install it.

The old HDD shows SMART errors when loading on another PC so I cloned it on a new disc.  Both are Hitachi 5400, the old model a 120 GB the new 250GB.

How can I get the BIOS to see the drive?  I have restored the image of the old drive to the new, with a signature of disk and without.  Dell support application there is no locking BIOS goes on and any SATA drive will do.

    Thank you.

Due to the presence of a Media Direct partition on the original disc, you can't clone the entire disk.  For the reason and how to work around it, see below.

  • Satellite A30 PSA30E - BIOS does not recognize the HARD drive

    Hi all
I have a Satellite A30 (PSA30E) and I start the computer. When I enter the BIOS it does not recognize the hard drive.
Does anyone no what I can do?
Is it possible to restore the BIOS?

    Thank you

    Hello

You replaced the HARD drive by a new one or the BIOS don't recognize the old HDD?

Usually if the laptop is not able to start and that the BIOS does not see the old HDD then I guess that the HARD drive is faulty.
If the BIOS doesn't recognize the inserted new HARD drive and then either you ve bought is not compatible, or the size of the HARD drive is just too big.

Please provide more info. You see error messages?

I bought a new Pro A30 of Satellite earlier.

A reboot cold was the only solution.

    How to install it?

If its SATA you need SATA drivers to install. Since the XP CD doesn't have the SATA drivers on it

Unless you disable the AHCI in the BIOS. Or their wake.

Or get the SATA drivers. Check out them on diskette, press F6 during installation and then add them.

  • HP Pavilion dv9000 - XP does not see the HARD drive, how to install it?

    Hello

I try to install XP SP3 on HP Pavilion dv9000, but XP Setup does not see the hard drive.

Can you please point me in right direction - what I do files and how to add them to the XP SP3 installation CD necessary?

I guess that somewhere there is a step-by-step detailed guide.

    Thank you

Enter the BIOS by pressing F10 at startup. If you have the option of Bios Setup to disable the native sata mode, XP will install without problem, no sata driver needed. It will be on the tab of the System Configuration.

If you do not have the setting in the Bios, it's the driver sata for your machine:

  • Version 38.0.1 does not see the passwords stored in previous versions

Version 38.0.1 does not see the previously saved passwords, and urged it to re - enter and save the password. After revert you to the version saved 31.7.0 pass back too. We have more than hundreds of copies of the program and all cached passwords, users do not even know what their password. This failure is a serious problem.

Problem solved. Probably the file has been corrupted signons3.txt. I deleted the file, and the new passwords are kept. After this version of the software update and new version I've seen passwords, create a logins.json file and now everything is fine. On all other computers in the company such a problem does not arise.

  • Portege A600-138 with Vista 32 bit does not see the computers in the Group Win XP network

    Hello

My Toshiba Portege A600-138 with Vista Business 32 does not see the computers in the workgroup.
In our office, the computers are all equipped with Windows XP.

When I connect my laptop to the Local network, I don't see any neighboring computers in Network Explorer.
I spent 1 hour and 40 minutes to talk to a specialist Service of Support from Microsoft, and the only way to have access to local machines, we found it had to enter the IP of the computer directly into the computer browser path field.

I hope you understand what I mean.

The man said that he had no this problem with non - OEM Windows Vista versions.
He meant that the problem was with the oem versions of Vista preinstalled on laptops only.
He said that probably the sellers - in my particular case Toshiba - supplied their notebooks with VIsta oem images that were somehow corrupt.

Does anyone have an idea of the cause of this problem?

    > The man said that he had no this problem with non - OEM Windows Vista versions.
    > It meant that the problem was with the oem versions of Vista preinstalled on laptops only.

    That's nonsense for me
The Vista OS preinstalled Toshiba which is same BONE as full Vista disc from Microsoft.
There is only one difference; Toshiba laptops are preinstalled with Toshiba and pilots tools and drivers and tools are part of the Toshiba recovery image that contains Vista, driver and tools

You will find information that a problem has to do with the new Windows Vista network map.
Windows Vista uses a new Protocol (Link Layer Topology Discovery).
LLTD is integrated with Windows Vista, this is why they appear correctly in the network map.
But the problem is that LLTD is not integrated with Windows XP, which is why they do not appear correctly.

But you can fix the problem by downloading and installing the layer topology discovery responder.
Install it and your PC Windows XP will appear on the network map.
