BIOS HP Pavilion dv5 problem

Hello my dear, I have a laptop model

HP Pavilion dv5-1020el

I forgot the bios password for my laptop. If I reset bios password through Master reset code.

When I enter the wrong password, I got system disable error and code 8-digit code is 84005191

and I have also mentioned that the model number now if someone help me and give me the reset code, I'll be very grateful.

To reset the BIOS password, you must clear the CMOS settings. To clear the CMOS settings, you must remove the RTC battery and place it after 2 minutes. Here is the link to the Service Manual of your laptop:
http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c01550108.PDF

Please refer to page 59 to remove and put the RTC battery.

    Hello

I was given a hp pavilion m7463, who had died, so I gave him a new hard drive which works very well.  I even just got a new monitor as well.  Now this computer came originally with XP... but it wouldn't work on the disk hard that I added, but I got a copy of Vista to run.  Thanks to all that the computer worked well.

Earlier today, I tried to update the BIOS because installed was a bit outdated and does not support boot from USB drives.  The old BIOS version was 3.15, and I downloaded the new version (3.19) directly at HP.  After the installation of the new BIOS, the computer continues trying to start, but he can not find windows or a handle than some delivers so it restarts, then tries again and the process keeps going.  You try to run repair from cd vista did not help.

It seems that if I restore the BIOS to 3.15 so I should be able ti solve the problem, and I'm fairly certain that I can install the BIOS if I can get my hands on a copy.  The problem seems to be that HP has a TERRIBLE site when it comes to drivers.  I can find the drivers/BIOS current listed, but no where is I was able to find a list of Alumni BIOS/driver to download.  So 2 questions...

    1. just install the old BIOS will fix my problem more likely?  If this is not the case, what I should try?

2 - does anyone know where I can find the BIOS HP version 3.15 for the motherboard ASUS P5LP - THE (and I need a version of vista/xp of the BIOS or is it important?

    Thanks for the help.

It is possible, at a distance, you need to install the SATA ACHI drivers on this model.

See if there is a setting in the BIOS under storage options to change the setting from ACHI to IDE, if such an option exists to the controller.

If it is set to DCIS, is why you can not install XP without loading the AHCI drivers at the F6 prompt you get when you start the installer of XP.

Vista and W7 have these drivers as part of the Setup disk, where XP does not work as it was released before such things ACHI.

If you have such a context and can change to IDE or legacy, XP will load right up.

HP recovery discs: I have them, but cannot use them because the DVD laser does not (CD only)

    Symptoms:

    • After reboot, the computer lights up and the fan works, but the screen is black
    • CTRL key flashes white light: 2 flashes, pause and repeat (BIOS corruption)

Hello, I'm recovering from the corruption of BIOS, hoping that it is not a failed mobo.

I downloaded the latest BIOS update for my system, but I can't this file to install on an external USB key using HP instructions to restore the BIOS.

To 1.11 step, I don't get the "HP system BIOS Update Utility" screen. Instead, I get this:

    My questions:

    1. is there an easy way to get this .exe on a USB? (I tried 3 computers and 3 cards USB, WTH then?)

    2. If not, can I just unzip and create a bootable USB in another program by copy/pasting the BIOS file?

    3. is there anything else I should try before flashing the BIOS?

Thanks in advance for your help. ^^

UPDATE: the "BIOS error" was in fact the video card that failed due to repeated overheating. The repair shop, replace the video card and repaired the overheating problem (I don't ask how), and my computer is like new.

For those who have a similar with their computer, my error "BIOS" problem (as it is coded by flashing lights of my computer) turns out to be a video card has failed.

The repair shop, said that what happens when computers overheat frequently, which mine did. Thus, they have changed the video card and solved the overheating problem, and my computer is in working condition.

  • HP Pavilion DV5 - 1235dx Bios Driver for windows 8.1

Hi, I can't find in services upgrade hp, an option for my operation system windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit. And now? Help me please! I need to update the Bios of my HP Pavilion DV5-1235dx.

What is pass or don't pass don't not with Windows 8.1 you think that an update of the BIOS would help? The latest version of the BIOS is F.21 and HP has not issued any supported Windows 8/8.1 for this model, which was originally a Vista machine.

  • Change the bios on my hp pavilion dv5-2135dx of 1333mz to 1866mz on the speed of RAM.

I have a hp pavilion dv5-2135dx laptop and I would like to go into the bios and change the speed of the RAM ddr3 1333mz to 1866mz.  I bought two chips hiperx plug-and-play of the kingston ddr3 4gig and they are set up to accept the upgrade to speed the1866mz.  I need to know if it is possible to do this procedure and if this is the case, what is the procedure to make this change.

I have a hp dv5-2135dx and I would also change the computer's bios to speed my RAM in 1033, because it is the actual number of the speed of memory ram bios shows that memory 4gig-2 chips can be improved is 1866.  HP, why don't you update the bios to accept the speed of the ram of 1866, if memory chips can be accelerated.  I don't think the upgrade is so difficult to create by upgrading the bios of your Indian coders geniuses.

  • Pavilion dv5 1185 eo startup problems

    Hello

I have a Pavilion dv5 eo from 1185 that won't boot to the top.

    Did a hard reset.

When I turn it on the num and caps light flashes 1 time, then he have 4 sec with no flicker, then again in the same way.

And this continues to move forward that there is power on the system.

What is the problem, and what is there to do?

    Thanks in advance

    Best regards

    Kurt

I consider the search to replace the laptop. The fault could be the CPU or the motherboard itself.

The cost of replacement, unless you do it yourself, could put your costs in more than 50% of the current value of the laptop.

  • Pavilion DV5 2775TX adapter problem

    Hello

My name is Salahuddin. This is my first post.  I changed 3 adapter for my Pavilion DV5.

All 3 failed after less than 3 months.  I don't want to buy an another 19V 4. 7 adapter I have another adapter for my HP dragon (portable 20inches) that have the same took entry (to the centre PIN) and the same output 19V but with A 9.5 instead of the original battery 4. 7A.  Being used well.  My question is will the 9.5 A adapter with max 180W damage the laptop after prolonged use?

Can another question, I use another adapter with output 19.5V and a 5.0?  Long use damage my laptop?

    Thanks for your help.

It is the tension that is essential. Use of an adapter with a voltage different, even 19.5 instead of 19, will eventually damage the laptop. The amperage is not as critical because the laptop will draw only as much amperage it takes. Most of the people do not use the amp models higher on smaller model laptops because it adds extra package but weight if the card is the same voltage and it caches and works, you are safe to use. You will find the plu amp adapter charges the battery much faster.

    Card BIOS update mother P5BW-P5BW-THE

    2007-10-05, version: 3.17, 1.31 M

P5BW-P5BW-THE Motherboard BIOS update solves the problems of distortion screen intermittent when the exit mode standby and adds the update of firmware for Intel processors to solve the problems of system stability, from the screen blue and send / don't send error messages.

I did this update of the Bios even above to HP a1640n PC. This update of the Bios totally messed up my computer.  I found it directly from the HP Web site:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?OS=228&LC=en&cc=us&DLC=en&sw_lang=&product=3245028#n238

The computer does not start in Windows now.  She keeps just recycling.  I have tried taking the cmos battery and the memory sticks, wait a few minutes, drain the power by pressing the power button.  Then I put it in.  That does not help either.  Where is the original Bios and how I put on my machine to make it work again?

  • Cannot install any os in a hp pavilion dv5 - 1120ev

Hi, my friend has an hp pavilion dv5 - 1120ev, he had top, pre installed windows vista. He asked me that if I could make the computer faster, so I told him, of course, you need to change OS to do this, you must install windows 7, I said. So I took with me, put windows 7 dvd, boot from the cd/dvd drive, deleted all partitions, even the recovery partition (I didn't know it came without a copy of disk recovery tools), partitioned the drive into 2 two new partitions, formatted and continued to install the os on the primary. The dvd that I used has all versions of windows 7, 32 and 64 bit, tried all, it gets stuck on the process of expansion, to 0% files (only with one version, she was 14%, I can't remember which), and it gives me the "windows cannot install required files. the file may be corrupted or missing. "Sure... error code: 0 x 80070017. Then, I tried with another dvd with winodws 7 ultimate, same thing. I also tried with the disc do not split into two, one partition, just in case windows is having problems expanding all of the files, just in case, same thing. Then I thought it was a bios thing, he had to be updated, which to be honest there cause of the version it is F.0C, and in the support section of the hp site, I found a newer version of it, which is also described as necessary for the latest operating system upgrade. I thought wow, that's it, I found it, I will upload a version of it bootable, version bootable cd to be precise, cause the bios version there back does not support booting from usb devices, I'll update it and install the operating system. NOPE. The site has an exe of the bios version. I tried to make a disk bootable with the bios in there (with the option of nero boot disc), I guess that I've not done it right, it could be a solution, but I could use some help on this. I also tried to install windows xp, so that I can install it the update of the bios, the same thing, I get the same error, only with the old blue sceen scholl. Finally, I tried to install windows vista Home premium, just in case the bios for a reason any has only accepted this operating system, no way, same error again! So now I'm not stuck wth no operating system, a pc unusable, nothing can be installed on it. I asked my friend that if the cd/dvd drive had some kind of problem, he said, had no problem with game discs, their loading and installation of games. Please HELP I don't know what to do! Thank you

Nevermind, I managed to solve the problem by taking the hard drive, put it in another phone and the windows installation, then put it back. It worked like charm, so the problem is 100% on the DVD player.

    Thank you

Windows 7 Home Premium operating system.

Error message: Wireless message "no connection is available.

I can't access wireless connections, even if the other devices have access to connections.  Wireless adapters work, but I can't seem to 'see' all wireless connections. /

This has just occurred recently-never a problem in the past.

    Any recommendations?

I recommend you update your BIOS. Go to http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html , and then type the name of your product in the search box.  Choose the Dv5 Entertainment Notebook that you have and select.  On the next page select your operating system Windows 7 Home 32 or 64-bit. Once on the correct driver for your laptop page choose BIOS in the list of drivers. Please update your BIOS and reboot. This should bring your WIFI connection. Please let me know if that solves this problem.

    Hello

    Try the following.

Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp41501-42000/SP41698.exe

One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

When you are finished, download and reinstall the Chipset driver from the link below.

    Chipset Driver - Windows Vista.

After reinstalling, shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

Allow Windows to fully - charge it will automatically load an audio driver, but let just this complete.  Then open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.

    Kind regards

Started making grinding noises and worried it will fail soon. I backed everything up and make incremental backups every month or the major software update.

I found this page which has examples of readers for the dv5: -.

I got the laptop computer upgraded with 8 GB of RAM and it is both power-hungry and becomes very hot requiring leaving space for ventilation.

    I have a few questions: -.

    1. I would of course get the model 7200 / 16 MB fast, but my laptop BIOS will support this, and this will lead to even greater consumption of energy and the heat generated?

    2. you would recommend sticking with the 5400/8 MB that I know will it work?

    3. I don't see the 1203em in the list of models supported, is there a compatibility list or can any point where it shows it IS supported?

    4. the model I have seems to be original HP Italy so I'm having a lot of trouble finding any hardware spare parts - can anyone help?

Thank you to all those who respond

I use the Western Digital Scorpio Black series in both my HP laptops, I have heat problems, they seem to go very cool and 7200 RPM

Any Sata laptop hard drive will work as long as it's 750 GB or smaller, drives 1 TB are thicker and do not fit in some bays of hard disk in several notebooks,.

I like BEKT of the Scorpio black models, they are not as advanced, compatible with multiple operating systems
