BIOS update solved the Portege M400 fan noise

The new version of BIOS (1.8) for Portege M400 solves the problem of fan noise. The Readme.txt explains that the temperature will rise only in three degrees. Very important, very recommended patch for users of M400.

Now I can use my tablet in my business meetings without having to give explanations to customers of the fan noise.

Greetings.

Hello Jose

It is very nice to hear that you are happy now. I read your previous assignments and I can understand you this annoying issue with cooling fan, but now you can see this laptop manufacturer is trying to make the product better, even if the product is on the market.

I am also certain that customer s comments can help identify the problem if persist und after this systematic search for the solution or change for the better.

I have a new Portege M400. The fan runs constantly even when the computer is started cold. The CPU is definitley do not run pretty hot the fan if necessary. None of the settings in the TOSHIBA Power Saver cause the fan turn off, even the setting of life. Is this a BIOS problem? Or a hardware failure? Or what?

    Hello

Have you used the image of Toshiba?
I found information that on some units of the BIOS update has the features of Toshiba Power Saver. What you can do is to check the version of the BIOS installed on the unit and compare it with the version on the Toshiba page.

However, I would also recommend reinstall the energy saver. Check if the new version is available. You can also try to clean the fans. For the most part this process helps.

  • Satellite Pro P200-15W: after Bios Update 1.90 incredibly noisy fan

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro P200-15W, I recently made an update to BIOS version 1.9 and seems to have been a big mistake.
After restarting the computer, I had a lot of software deconfig and the fan has become incredibly noisy.

I have the problem with the Toshiba Vista registration software, I get this message: "registration of Vista has stopped working". I read other discussions, I don't want to just disable it in the start.ini file, I would actually solve the problem if there is a way.

Is there a way to change the configuration of fans? I read a post from Toshiba on another model of laptop that has had the same problem of noisy fans after an update of the BIOS, they gave that a solution with a new version of the BIOS, is there a way to reverse the BIOS to the previous version? (recovery CD will be useful for this purpose)?

    See you soon

    Edgard

    Hello

It seems that the picture of the fan was changed and renewed in the new version of BIOS, and so fans run fall.
Why the table fan has been changed?

Well, usually something like this is necessary to improve the reduction of the internal temperature while the CPU and GPU are running with maximum performance.
This helps to prevent the equipment from damage!

Usually, the recovery CD formats the whole HARD drive (partitions too) and installs only the image of Toshiba on the notebooks of HARD drive.
The image contains the OS, drivers and additional software and has nothing to do with the BIOS update.
But you can try to recover the laptop to see if you can solve the problems of software as "Vista record"!

If you want to reverse the BIOS, you will need to contact the ASP in your country!

Sorry, but all I can suggest.

  • The Pavilion S3120N fan noise

After that Hp replaced the motherboard under the extended warranty, because one quiet old work, I now have a very high sound level because the processor cooling fan runs at high speed for most.

Talk to the HP support brought no solution, it's just frustrating. According to them there is no relationship between the change of the motherboard and the fan noise. We had the computer for two years and had no problems with that, in fact we where he is very happy that the computer was running on these levels to low noise constantly.

I was search the HP solutions provides on the middle section of solution, also without success, even after the update of BIOS, change the power settings in Windows etc... After opening the envelope, it appears, they have changed the cooling with the motherboard fan. He now has an installed Taisol fan unit, which seems to be the problem with the noise level. This instrument will create just more noise, and since I can expect not any help more HP, on it, I'm looking into replacing the unit of my self with a calm. Anyone out there with a similar problem and a solution for this?

Thanks for the thought, I managed to fix it myself. Pretty embarrassing for the workshop to repair HP actually, all I had to do was reinstall the fan on top of the processor. They need had installed it so that the fan was a little out of whack, in order to not cool properly or does not correctly recorded temperature. After the seizure of the device, to see if there is anything wrong with the base, I just applied again past the heat at the base and screw them on. I made sure that the four screws that hold in place cooling unit are linked on the cross.

Now I can run the computer at full load and almost never have the noise level that I had before.

What frustrates me is the fact, that hotline HP never even considered that there could be a problem with the installation or even assuming that there is a relationship between the replacement of the motherboard and the problem of noise that I was complaining. The people I spoke with, including the supervisor of technical support, when he is very eager to sell me a warranty plan extended, rather than listening to my problem. Well this isn't the right place to start even on this issue, but some things need to be said. Treat your customers with more respect and make sure you listen to the explanations out there, after all we all suck when it comes to computers!

  • BIOS update - save the current BIOS first?

I'm of the Canada. Don't know why he brought me to the American site to ask questions... fail.

But anyawys, I have a SONY VAIO laptop, which currently has some bugs (shading on the random display).

My VAIO Update program warned me that there was an update of the BIOS available that could solve the problem.

Instructions on how to update the BIOS were pretty * straight forward, and did not mention the current BIOS must be saved in case of installation errors. However, when I Google searched, many websites have mentioned that it is very important to backup the current BIOS and needs to be done (which I don't know how to do). Now I'm confused because the SONY Web site mentioned at all that I have to save anything. I also wonder if the other stuff on my computer should be backed up before upgrading? Like photos, documents, etc.? I have not immediately an external hard drive. If anyone can help me with this, it would be great. Thank you.

    punxie89,

I'm sorry but there is no software that can create a current backup of the BIOS on our Web site.  Because you are dealing with the BIOS, it is strongly recommended that you back up your data in case where... If you do not have an external hard drive, use a USB flash drive or save it to disk...

  • HP Elite 8200 CMT: Bios Update after the update of Windows 10

Hello, I've updated my HP Elite 8200 CMT from windows 7 to windows 10.

In the HP driver download page, there is no updated BIOS for windows 10.

But I noticed that it is has updated BIOS for Windows 7.

The question is, can I use it on Windows 10?

And generally to load OS updates to the BIOS?

    Hello:

You can remove the base flash BACK of the package of BIOS file folder, simply copy the contents of the file flash BACK on a USB stick formatted with the FAT file system.

Plug in a USB flash drive, restart the PC, press the ESC key to get the options menu.

Select F10 system configuration to access the BIOS.

Select the file menu > control system ROM Flash.  Select the USB flash drive.

The PC will see the files on the flash drive.  Follow the instructions to update the BIOS screen.

In this way, it makes no difference what operating system you are running.

A very important point... I read the last 2.29 installing BIOS causes problems with the W10.

There is a post on the forum about who...

I use v2.28 on my HP 8200 Elite CMT and have no problem at all on W10.

I have read that post and decided to not update the BIOS to v2.29.

Windows 7 x 64 I don't have this problem with the latest nvidia driver (using speedfan to check the temperature)

I tried to Flash the bios with the latest version => _Update.exe BD1_BIOS (V4.80) version 4.0, I actually and all flashing same mistake you Error - 121. update of DXE etc...

While the .exe to extract the contents of the flash on your c:\tmp I'll try a bios flash with a bootable usb key and phlash.exe with the BD13C43. WPH.

The problem is to find the phlash.exe official back... Phoenix does not provide such tools ;(

I understand the need of simple bios flash on windows... but I don't understand the .iso missing for flashing at the start when the operating system does not match...

Toshiba has offered traditional old BIOS updated (diskette), a long time ago. Now you can find WIN updates only.
You can try to contact the closest service Toshiba and ask if they have traditional BIOS update.

  • A BIOS update affect the recovery of a machine?

I am about to use the disc of recovery for the first time and have any questions about the procedure.

    * An updated BIOS would affect the recovery process? *

Since I use my laptop, I installed the latest BIOS for it and I was wondering if the recovery of product would be assigned to all the by - and if so, no matter who has no idea where to get BIOS orignial, or how the 'dismantling' of the BIOS that I noticed that the BIOS back it self up when updated with a newer version.

    Taking advantage of the grace.

Yes, all preinstalled applications are part of the recovery image.
The image contains the operating system Windows, Toshiba drivers, tools and additional software such as Norton Antivirus for example.
This means that these additional software would be installed too by using the recovery CD.

  • Problem installing BIOS update on the satellite U series

Installation of Toshiba TEMPRO informed me there's an update of the BIOS (published April 7, 2010) must be installed.

When I received this notification I downloaded the .zip file and extract its content - BIOS_UPDATE_V170.exe-, but the execution of this file, I got a popup error saying < file "c:\". ' is not accessible >. I decided there must be a bug in the installer that will be corrected in time, so I have nothing and waited.

Today, I received another notice that the BIOS update was available, but even once, I get the same error. My c:\ folder seems OK!
The BIOS file is in C:\TOSHIBA\ARSENAL10_10G_BIOS_UPDATE_V170_WIN where I extracted to (having initially tried to run my downloads folder, I thought I'd try also, but it seems to make no difference).

Can anyone offer any suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated.
If not, how can I get advice from Toshiba?

    Hi all

If the solution was done by a kind shop in Hungary, http://reballing.hu

and a specialist in firmware http://vinafix.vn

So apperently my BIOS has been corrupted that CAPS lock sign showed and it could have been rewritten with HP Diagnostics if HP could provide the RSA key for her...

In this case it is not provided, you don't have that one other solution, to find a nice (as reballing.hu) repair shop, where the guys are nice enough to disassemble your computer, take the chip and write the data without the requirement of RSA software HP Diag using a writer BIOS correctly. You can also buy writers of the bios and the tools, but he could be uite costly and risky for you to do...

So you have a repair guy, the only other thing that you might need to trust is the dump of the BIOS correct, please note that the supplied with the softpaqs .bin file is encrypted, so it must be decrypted, it is not an easy task, it worked for me too after awhile, but better to find a provider of bios (saves time for you as well and that is why HP is not willing to give it to you, you have two choices: make a work computer, and read the bios in this way (you must have the identical chip and content, so preferabily the same card mother or product)

Or go to www.vinafix.vn and ask them to provide you with, these people are kind enough to explain how the thing works and what you need to write your own return data.

So once that you set is not more than 30 minutes for a handy guy and as they work at the time, it is fairly cheap as well, it cost me 25 USD total (10 for bios) and 15 for the actual work done

It's a shame that yu can not really find information about this threat, and also that it can happen to your computer at any time it seems that, always in waiting to see what caused, and if she came back or not... but as of now, I am pleased that the computer is back on!

  • Latency of PE T320 Hyper-V hosts that are set by the BIOS update to the host

Twice now, I got the prompt Exchange 2010 on my W2K8 Standard Server with Hyper-V suddenly suffer a massive amount of latency and become virtually locked out of the blue.  After hours of troubleshooting, restart and research - as a last-ditch effort I noticed that the BIOS is outdated.  I update of the BIOS and then as magically everything works again.

Anywhere from 2 to 4 months to go and rinse & repeat.

I'm going out on a limb here, but I suspect that there is something about the system that gets flushed out during an update of the bios that is the cause of the problem, but I am at a loss to determine what is.  I want to avoid proactively with the server my client Exchange fail, but it goes against my better judgment to apply updates BIOS proactively.  We had the motherboard already toggled because of a bad DRAC, and the problem continues to be.

I could use help to identify what I can do to prevent this from happening in the future.  TIA

Well we have not seen the question back at all since we changed the system of "Performance per Watt" profile to 'Performance '.  I would start there first.  It is three months and none of our T320 do more.  We are sure, it's the 90 percent solution.

I just wanted to add that this update does NOT resolve the problem in vista and it is NOT a driver problem. The update will not install in vista and vista is already provided with videoprt.sys 5.1.2600.2911.

No matter what laptop I, euro or us, could someone please tell me the file so that I can look at what changes actually code?

    Hello

    > Why this thread has been closed?
I think that the admin closed this thread because, as indicated by the user lumix2day the MS update has solved this problem.

The M400 was delivered with Win XP it's why the update should work with Windows XP!

    Regarding your question.
Looks like you are using your own copy of Vista on the M400.
You should check if Vista is already up to date. Each week the new MS updates are published.

Additinally, I recommend updating the BIOS and check for a driver update more recent display!
