Bit Locker Drive Encryption in Windows Vista
Just downloaded the Bios version 2.2 update (QG40 BIOS_W220.exe), but I have inadvertently omitted to transform the 'Bit Locker Drive Encryption in Windows Vista"first, such as Toshiba had advised.
Are there corrections I can do to remedy this omission and ensure that the G40 and software work properly?

I try to enable BitLocker on my laptop, and apparentlym my drive is misconfigured. I'm trying to get a copy of the drive preparation tool to help me, but I can't find a version compatible with Windws Vista Enterprise SP2. Knowledge Base article explains two ways to get the tool - windows update help and by following this link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=320B9AA9-47E8-44F9-B8D0-4D7D6A75ADD0 - and none of these work.
To the best of my knowledge, there is no such thing as an automated tool compatible with SP2, and I'm not 100% clear on what to do to prepare the drive manually. I've got 20 GB unallocated disk main HARD outside the system partition and the partition of storage, but I want to know what to do before you start fiddling around with it. I know that the BitLocker boot partition must have a size of at least 1500, and it should be active, but what files need to be on it so that BitLocker to run? What else do I need to do before I can activate BitLocker?

Hello littleturley99,
Open internet explorer 9 and look in the upper right of the window. You will see an icon of the House, star and a wheel of gog. Click on t he cog icon wheel, and in the drop down menu, click 'about internet explorer '. Look in the window of internet explorer for the "force encryption". This should read 256 Bit.

Wipe the hard drive and reload Windows Vista
I want to wipe my hard drive and then reload Windows vista business 32-bit my original cd/dvd, what is the best way to do it and what does it save before I commit to such an action. I had a series of problems with my computer and the last correction process was the Iolo System Mechanic (that should come with warnings) which managed to destroy my windows installer. should record different programs of files, etc.
Hello
To reinstall Vista using the recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:
You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:
How to change the Boot order in BIOS:
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm
To reinstall from a Vista DVD from Microsoft, you change the Boot order and follow this information:
Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:
"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html
And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.
"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/84488-activate-Vista-phone.html
As it was explained to you, you need to reinstall 3rd party programs from the original media (from CD, DVD, etc.)
And this method back up to an external hard drive your files, photos, music, documents, etc.:

This is my 3 TB external hard drive compatible with Windows Vista?
I have a LaCie Big Disk Quadra 3 TB GPT formatted the drive I will use and would like to know if it is compatible with Vista. The drive came formatted for Mac OSX so with Windows XP pre, I could just format the drive in NTFS but the max for NTFS volume size is 2 TB, so I need to reformat the drive with the GPT file system in order to use all 3 TB of space.
I keep seeing on the net that only Windows Vista Enterprise x 64, Windows Vista Ultimate x 64 will recognize superior GPT then 2 TB volumes, and elsewhere on the net that I see that any version of Windows Vista and Windows XP x 64 will recognize superior GPT volumes then 2 TB, I just want to know which is the real?
I have Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 x 64, incidentally.
Hello Elecrtolight, welcome.
Microsoft's KB article goes into details about the features of the type non - MBR disks reading operating system:
http://www.Microsoft.com/whdc/device/storage/GPT_FAQ.mspx
Here is what I believe to be much relevant information of this article:
Support of Windows XP disc
EFI is needed for a GPT disk?
# GPT disks are automatic identification. All the information needed to interpret the schema of a GPT disk partitioning is fully in the structures of the locations specified on the physical media. How big can a GPT disk be?
In theory, a GPT disk can be up to 2 ^ 64 logical blocks in length. Logical blocks are generally size of 512 bytes. The maximum size of the partition (disc) is a function of the operating system version. The original version of Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP have a limit of 2 TB per physical disk, including all partitions. For Windows Server 2003 SP1 Windows XP x 64 edition and later versions, the maximum raw score of 18 exabytes may be supported. (Windows file systems are currently limited to 256 terabytes each.)
How many partitions can be a GPT disk?
The specification allows a virtually unlimited number of partitions, but the implementation of Windows this restricted to 128 partitions. The number of partitions is limited by the amount of space reserved for the partition entries in the MODEL.A disc may be the GPT and MBR?
N ° however, all GPT disks contains a MBR of protection. Can Windows XP x 64 read, write, and boot from GPT disks?
Windows XP x 64 Edition can use GPT disks for data only. Only windows for Itanium systems can boot from GPT partitions. The 32-bit version of Windows XP can read, write, and boot from GPT disks?
N ° 32-bit version will only see the MBR of protection. The EE partition is not mounted or otherwise exposed to application software. The 32-bit versions of Windows Server 2003 can read, write, and boot from GPT disks?
All versions of Windows 2003 since Server Pack 1 can use GPT partitioned the disk for data. The start-up is only supported for Itanium systems. Can Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 read, write, and boot from GPT disks?
Yes, all versions can use GPT partitioned for data discs. The boot is supported only for EFI systems. Can you Windows 2000, Windows NT 4, or Windows 95/98, read, write, and boot from GPT?
N ° once again, the old software will only see the MBR of protection.Let us know if this helps,
Thank you!

Problem Driver ATI 9700 Windows Vista on a P10 792
I tried Windows Vista beta 5308 in my Toshiba P10-792, and I was unable to get graphics accelartion with Windows Vista Driver for Ati 9700 graphics, which is is built in P10 - 792.
It displays an error code 43.After some research, I found http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=268378&SiteID=1
Some people suggested to get the last update of the bios for laptop. I've updated to the latest version of the bios, but the problem persists, someone has the same problem?
Any help would be valuable.Thank you
Hello
Usually, you use the graphic drivers of Toshiba Toshiba laptops.
I found the description of the error 34 on this site from Microsoft:
http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB; EN-US; 310123 #XSLTH343912112212012112012034 error code: Windows cannot determine the settings for this device
Solution:: the device requires manual configurationWell, the fact is that Windows Vista is not official on the market and there is a lot of necessary test. Moreover, Toshiba doesn't utter the graphics driver for Windows Vista at this time. In my opinion, wait for Toshiba graphic driver. I m sure that the original Toshiba graphics drivers will work in the future.
