Black screen after update yesterday Windows 7

This morning I got a black screen with cursor error.  Was able to get into task manager, started in safe mode, Startup Repair did not work.  Went to system restore and restored to the 8/14 update, computer restarted normally.

So the problem seems to be related to last update (19/08/10).  Now, of course I am offered this update again!  Any info on this problem?  I'm on a Dell Inspiron 546 desktop running 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium.  Thanks for any help...

Thanks for your reply.  After the system restore, I installed all the news updates and system rebooted normally.  Who knows why?

Problems after installing the operating system recovery disc?

    > When it installs drivers crashing into the graphics driver
You n t need to install all the drivers after installing the recovery disc. The recovery disk installs OS Win and also drivers needed!

    > I downloaded 197.16, 197.71, 258.80 drivers Nvidia and laptopvideo2go, but when I try to install these versions, it does not compotible with my control panel.

If you want to install non-Toshiba drivers, you will have to do it in the Device Manager.
You must use the Advanced installation procedure and have point to the driver files (ini files) that you have downloaded and stored on the HARD drive.
You have simply force windows to select this driver.

  • Qosmio X 870-149 - black screen after update to 8.1 win

After an update to win 8.1, I got a black screen after connection, the only thing I could do was to press zero when starting and make a recovery facility.

It took 40 hours, I don't know why it took so long, but when it was over, the HARD drive was completely empty, so I installed win 7 instead, because I had not done? a restore CD. The problem now is that I still get black screen between the two, and think it might be a heat problem, I still have the warranty, but I don't know if it applies when I installed win 7 on the machine.

I still have a warranty on my Qosmio toshiba

    Hello

Well, the guarantee covers material related problems. It does not any problem with the software.

Now the question is: why the black screen appears?
Is - this problem is hardware or software?

What happens if you access the BIOS?
You don't see anything on the screen?

Something is visible on the external monitor?

  • Windows black screen after update.

    Hello:

I think that my computer had an automatic update in Tuesday night / Wednesday morning. (I heard him restart in the middle of the night). Everything seemed well Wednesday morning the computer was working and I got the video.

I tried to start my computer last night (Thursday) and I got a black screen. No splash screen. No bios. Nothing.

Windows starts even though, as I can hear the chime start.

This same problem happened to me once before, about two or three months ago and I called EVGA for help. At the time, I had a spare video card, and the map screen with this card. I have currently a GTX 280 the older map was also a NVIDIA, but I don't remember the model number, possibly 7950.

We used the sweeper driver and reinstalled the NVIDIA drivers. I was then able to get the computer to display with the 280.

I don't have immediate access to a spare video card to try this out, so I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on how I can solve this problem.

I think getting a small hard drive, cheap and loading linux on it and see if I can not do load like that. I could probably run Sweeper driver on the other drive in this way as well.

What is troubling to me, it's that I can't even in the BIOS when this happens. I don't understand why the video card isn't some "bootstrap" he can in the case of a conflict situations pilot to display the BIOS screen at least, but this isn't your problem.

I also want to know how I can disable these automatic updates. Really don't want to mess with Windows driver configurations.

    Hello!

Thanks for posting here to the Microsoft Answers forum.

Drivers are optional updates and do not install unless you click on it to install it. You can disable automatic updated since the center of the action in your taskbar as a flag. But it is not recommended. Now what you can do is press f8 when your computer restarts a few options expected pop up, try to start in VGA mode or low resolution, you should be able to start windows now, with no drivers for the graphics loaded. try rolling back the drivers then or uninstall in Control Panel of-> programs. Reinstall (download from the nvidia site)

    or

start your installation Windows dvd by inserting it and restarting your computer (set your boot options to boot from the CD/DVD in BIOS), and then use the system under repair restore

    Letus know the result.

  • Black screen after update Windows 10 in Toshiba laptop

    * Original title: Windows 7

Hello, so I opened my Toshiba laptop and it led me directly to the black screen that says (look at the picture) and I was wondering what I should do to solve the problem because it led me straight to here. Please help as soon as POSSIBLE. "PS I tried inserting a blank disc.

Sounds like your hard drive has met its end (average life of a spinning hard drive is a little more than 5 years, but many die prematurely, especially in laptops that move).

If you do not know that all of the cables and connections are secure on the disc, then it's probably time to buy a new hard drive to put.

    Hello

    You can try these methods:

1st thing to try is a restoration of the system in safe mode

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

  • Ipad black screen after updating ios 9.2 2 mini

    Hi all

My mini ipad 2 was somewhere in the update to ios 9.2 and when I tried to unlock it, it did not.

I got a black screen, I thought that maybe battery or something.

After the cable, I hear the sound of connect 'dived', so he is still alive.

Then every 5-10 seconds who even connect sound repeats.

    So I tried the following:

-Home and power button, connect to itunes-> restore

-Home and power button, connect to itunes-> update

-Home and power button, connect to itunes->-> tried restoring back to 9.1-> causes error 3194

So, I tried all of the obvious ways to get the ipad back alive again, but I still have a black screen and the sound of connection.

    What to do?

Can someone tell me what is taking place and how I can fix the situation please.

    Hello

It seems during the BIOS update process, something went wrong and therefore the laptop does not start correctly.
You should know that the update of the BIOS is always a risky job.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to solve this problem. You need a help of an ASP.

As the above user said, contact the service provider allowed in your country and ask for help!

  • Black screen after update of Microsoft Windows 7

After you install automatic updates on 04/16/10, Windows 7 is no longer load.  After the manufacturer splash screen (Dell), the screen goes black with the cursor at the top left.  Cannot start in safe mode.  Used the recovery disc for restore to the point just before the updates, but the problem persists.  I'm now restore to factory settings.  Most of the messages on this problem point to video drivers, but since I can't get a Safe Mode option, I don't think that the question is a video driver.  After that I restored, I fear that it will recreate the problem to apply updates.  No one knows exactly what causes this?  I do not like to disable automatic updates, but do not know what else to do.

    Lisa Dell,
If you already have a factory restore, then you can create a System Image first.  Then update all your hardware drivers.  It is better to go to the website of the hardware manufacturer to obtain the latest drivers.  Then run Windows Update, until no more updates only is presented.  Then install all the programs gone 3.

  • black screen after update?

After installing the updates, my screen is black and I can't do anything? Help

    Hello

Welcome to the Microsoft community. I appreciate your efforts to solve this issue. I will certainly help you with the problem you are experiencing.

I would like to ask you:

-What is the brand and model of your PC?

-Updates were installed after that this problem occurred?

This issue may arise when there is a conflict with the boot files or when there is corruption in the boot files. I recommend you to try the following methods to diagnose and solve this problem.

    Method 1:

Disconnect all external devices, as appropriate (printer, scanner, camera photo or any other USB device) except the mouse and keyboard and try restarting your computer.

If you are able to start the computer after disconnecting all external devices, the device identification by connecting one by one. If the problem persists, proceed to the next method.

    Method 2:

Use startup repair and other options for system recovery to see if one of them help you.

Startup Repair is a Windows Recovery tool that can fix certain system problems that might be preventing Windows to start. Startup Repair scans your computer for the problem and then tries to fix it so that your computer can start correctly.

What are the system recovery options in Windows 7?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-are-the-system-recovery-options-in-Windows-7

System Restore warning: When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

If the method above does not work. You can access the advanced options by following the steps below.

If you are unable to start the computer, then I suggest to automatically perform a repair by booting from the installation disc. Try the following steps.

    1. Insert the floppy disk repair or Windows 7 DVD and restart your computer. Boot from the DVD, press a key if prompted.

    2. Choose your language and click Next.

    3. Click on repair your computer, select the operating system you want to repair.

    4. Click the link to repair system list of recovery tools in the System Recovery Options.
