BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Smartphones No browser icon

Hiya... I'm in a world of pain...

Sorry - a little background on this...

In 2009 my husband bought me a new Blackberry Pearl 8100 on the internet (he doesn't remember exactly where). I put my sim O2 existing in this document, expecting to be able to access the internet/email, but none were available to me. A simple call to O2 clarified was that one - my sim card Pay & Go and at that time, O2 did not Blackberry web & email on Pay & Go. I use it as a phone for a bit, got irritated (searched internet and emails!) and bought a Samsung Tocco lite which I was using until last week when I discovered that, since last July, O2 were now internet Blackberry on Pay & Go.

So, I'm quite excited about buy a bolt on O2, push my sim in my beautiful Blackberry Pearl, get excited when I see the new icons for Facebook and Google, etc... and then I realize that there is no browser option. No globe icon, nothing. The only way I can see a browser icon if I have the menu button and select "Switch Application". The "phone says 'request', then gives me an option to sign up for Yahoo Messenger. If I hit the 'back' button, the screen is empty. If I accept 'Download', I get: "sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Yahoo."

I have set up my email and they work fine. If I click on the links in the emails, I just get a white screen.

I spoke to O2 who said that "all's fine their end" and there is no reason why I can't find a browser icon. They told me to check the latest Blackberry download so my "phone is updated. So, I installed what I believe to be the latest version, but that had no effect.

A battery pull (Finally, a hundred of them in fact...) has also no effect).

I'm close to launch the thing caught fire in the wall. Please help me save my beautiful little ' call from such a cruel fate... of ideas?

(OS release: v4.2.193)

Hello!

I suggest the following, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message to your BB to come):

(1) registry HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network

(2) Service reference books

  • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service

(3) restart to take batt

  • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you! If not, then you could investigate new update of your BB OS... Here's a process for it:

From a PC, you can install any bundle of BONES to a BB via this procedure:

Note that although written for "reload", it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or recharge - it depends on the OS package you download and install on your PC. You can even use a different OS package carriers simply insert, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion, on your PC, a file named PROVIDER. XML. remember that you remove from your PC, no matter what other packages devices OS BB as having more than one installed on the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.

If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:

Good luck and let us know!

  • Director of office of line of blackBerry Pearl 8100 Smartphones

I just bought a Pearl 8100 to my wife and of course it comes with the disc. I also know that there is an update available. My question is. I have to load his drive (Desktop Manager) to our computer at home or my Office 8320 senior work? I don't think we will be updating its OS for a few months yet. Any info will be appreciated.  Also, I searched all 9 pages of the Desktop Manager and found nothing on it.  Eldon

Desktop Manager is not related to a model of the device.

Try to use your BB Desktop Manager with device of your wife.

    It should work.

If your wife's pocket has the more modern version of OS, BB Desktop Manager may indicate "no additional application found for your device. In this case, uninstall your Desktop Manager and install the latest version of BB Desktop Manager from blackberry site: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/

This latest version will work with your handheld and with the woman of your handheld.

  • BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Software Upgrade Smartphones to transmit music to the bluetooth headset?

Is there a way to upgrade software or helmets-specific so use the 8100 will transmit music to bluetooth headsets?

The Pearl 8100 of the operating system does not support the A2DP Bluetooth profile, which allows streaming audio. BlackBerry 4.2.2 operatig system with superior devices do not support this. Unfortunately, the last official version of the Pearl is 4.2.1.109.

There will be an operating system released shortly which will look at this, 4.5.0.

  • Smartphones blackBerry sync a Blackberry Pearl 8100 to a Sony Ericsson earpiece/Headset Bluetooth wireless

Via Bluetooth, I synced my Blackberry 8100 Pearl for my Sony Ericson Bloothtooth Headset HBH-DS200 stereo.  The devices are connected, but when I play music from the phone, music comes out of the Blackberry speaker rather than the helmet of the Sony Ericsson headset Sony Ericson is A2DP compatible.  Does anyone know if the Pearl 8100 is compatible A2DP and yes there at - it an option to disable this active or disabled on the phone?

I see in the instructions for Blackberry on the 8100 that the "Source Audio" profile is A2DP but how do to this profile source?  From Sony Ericsson's Web site says the Blackbery 8300 is compatible with the headset, but did not mention the Pearl 8100. Thank you.  Miles

The 8100 is only compatible A2DP if you improve its OS to OS 4.5.  Look into the Options > on.  If it says 4.2.x.x, then you need to upgrade.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry app world changed the browser icon

Hello, I have a Bold 9780 and the following problem. I opened the app world and are passed to settings for google. Since I had two icons of browser but not BB appworld icon more. Hey, Dine,.

It soulds as the second browser icon is your mobile network providers WAP browser. Because the BlackBerry World is not listed under application management, could you please try reinsert from the link in resolution 1 of the following article? "BlackBerry App World icon is missing after upgrade to BlackBerry App World 4.0.0.63 to 4.0.0.65" KB29422 if this does not help, could you please try the other steps in the article?

  • Sync media of Smartphones from blackBerry Pearl 8100 and Vista Home Premium

I would use Media Sync with my Pearl 8100, but I can't get the app to load.  I downloaded the application on my desktop and double-click on the file to begin the installation.  Vista immediately gives me a warning window stating that "BlackBerryMediaSync.exe is not a valid Win32 application".  New in BlackBerry App world, I assumed I had to use Desktop Manager to deploy the program on my phone first, maybe.  Of course, the .exe file is not even appear as an option when you use the Application Loader because it is not a type of files .alx or .ali file.

Thus, MediaSync can even run on a 64 bit system?  I'm doing something wrong?

Now, I could use the Media Manager to transfer mp3 files and listen to them on my Pearl, but I prefer to use Media Sync to sync with iTunes.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Solved the problem.  The downloaded file has been apparently damaged or incomplete, and that's what caused the error "invalid Win32 application."  I've downloaded the file again and everything works fine.

  • BlackBerry Pearl 8100 with Plantronics 510 headset Pairing disorder Smartphones

Help!  I have a set of hands free plantronics 510 and Pearl 8100.  When you are looking for a device with the blackberry, he does not pick up the headset.  Ive tried to turn on the headset during his research while being right on.

A plantronic 510 is an "authorized" compatible hands-free kit as per link below:

    http://www.BlackBerry.com/BTSC/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB04009&sliceId=SAL_Pub...

Can anyone advise where Im going wrong?  Ive used this before headset with another phone and it paired no prob.  Just like the Blackberry has paired with my other phone.  I do not use both at the same time Im transferring to the blackberry.

    Help!
    Shirlzz

    Hi Shirlzz,

There are a few things that can prevent the matching with the blackberry handsfree:

    1. Peripheral Bluetooth not turned in "pairing mode" before attempting to connect to the blackberry. To put the Plantronics 510 into pairing mode, simultaneously maintain "call control" and buttons at the same time. Please see the user's guide for more detailed instructions. Once in pairing mode, try to add the headset via the blackberry.
    2. COMPUTING policy. If you use blackberry on a Blackberry Enterprise Server, make sure that the policy that has been defined by the administrator of BES to the bluetooth connectivity.
    3. The blackberry could be linked to another handset/headset or PC. You must remove the connection to one of these devices before plugging the Plantronics headset.
    4. Camera malfunction? Try to disable bluetooth, then do a hard reset on the blackberry (leave the device on, remove the battery and reinsert the battery)

Let me know how you go

  • BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Smartphones display icons

I have a Pearl 8130 and problems with an icon on my screen.  I think it has to do with the calendar event reminder, but I have not received any notification and the icon will not go away.  It looks like a square with a dot in the middle (a bit like a VHS tape).  (Yes I just dated myself

It's just boring - nothing wrong with the phone.  But I had problems with my Pearl because this is my second.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

That would be an indicator of voice message from your operator.

If you have a voice mail waiting icon wandering on your home screen:

    • Call your voicemail and clear the message.
    • You can call your BB from another and leave a message. You BB, call your voicemail and clear and delete your messages.
    • If the above fails, with your BB under tension - pull your battery to reset and restart your BlackBerry.
    • Change your theme and see if it persists and return to your desired theme. (Options > theme > select.)
    • Clean and reload your OS.

    Good luck.
