BlackBerry Smartphones Alternative average backup phone?

Hey everybody,

I recently had a problem with one of the usb port being folded on my curve 8310 pins. This led soon to be unable to charge the phone or connect the phone to my computer via USB.

Today, I got an 8310 new, and I was wondering if it is possible to recover / transfer the any of my previous data on my new phone using another method other than the use of Device Manager.

I know that it is a bit of a long shot, but I thought I'd see if anyone here has any ideas. It is just a bit of a pain to add all contacts, bbm contacts, data etc on the new phone manually.

Any info would be much appreciated!

Thank you.

Update:

Figured it out.

I was able to sync via bluetooth to my computer (using Desktop Manager) and transferred all the old data to my new phone.

Well, if the USB port is the only way to synchronize or backup data, of if it is damaged I'm not aware of another way.

That your device was synchronization with Outlookor customer anotheremail before? If you connect the cable and have it sync

    Hello

I take a phone of my coleague who has left the company. For some reason, I can't able to connect on the phone. Firstly I didn't at first, the password of my coleague ex, I went online and changed the password. However, when I want to connect with my new password to unlock the phone, I have this message:

"You have exceeded the number of attempts to connect.

For security reasons, you have been locked for 15 minutes. "Click on forgotten password if you need create a new password.

But after 15 minutes and try again, the message... helpppp

You try the BlackBerryID, or the security password, on the device?

It looks like the BlackBerryID if you are locked out for 15 minutes.

A wrong entered security password would give you only a message something like «wrong password 2/10»

Then, to change the BBID of this device and make it 'your own' device, you'll need to do a wipe of the device security. This will delete all the data in personal, contacts, calendar, etc. and restore the State of the plant basically.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones looking for backup file BlackBerry IPD Category Descriptions

    Hello world

For the life of me. I can't seem to find the list of category descriptions listed in a *. IPD backup file.

What I basically want to do, is to isolate the sound patterns (alerts) and * NOT * have the backup file wipe out the original default patterns that are loaded with a clean installation of the BlackBerry Device Software.  Also, that the list description would come very handy for future restorations!

Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction.

    Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Hmmm... Category descriptions... I'm not quite positive which is... maybe it's databases? If so, here's a knockout that lists those:

    • KB03974 List of all databases on the BlackBerry smartphone

I'm guessing that your tent a selective restore of certain databases rather than restore complete. What happens, however, is the replacement of the complete database indeed... regardless of the database that is located on the device is is replaced by what is in the IPD file. For some databases, there are tricks to merge the data that can be undertaken - for most messages, calendar, contacts and tasks... 'the organizer' standard databases, but I don't know the method to merge the databases of configuration (as well as alert profiles).

    Good luck!

Yes. You can use the Blackberry Backup Extractor tool to check if you have existing local backups on your computer. It can extract data such as SMS, emails, calendars, contacts, notes, etc. from backup, you can import according to your new BB. I hope this helps.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Please help - my phone keeps restarting/reloading. It won't turn on, and I need to access my calendar to see if I need night tonight or tom meds

Hello, I hope someone can help me. I have medication alerts on my phone, without it I don't know if I need my meds tonight or tomorrow night.

I downloaded a few free apps now in app world for blackberry on my phone as I have done several times before.

He asked a reboot once completed. so I clicked to restart. Since that time (4 + hrs) sound was reloading all the time, it is right at the end and restarts it again without turning on

I removed the battery and tried to turn it on, it does the same thing. I tried a reboot after removing the card and sim, then both and still nothing.

I also tried to boot in SafeMode by hiolding down the ESC key but it dosnt work.

    Help, please

You are able to reboot your device in SafeMode as shown in KB17877?

This could remove some data if you do not have a current backup

I guess, because it is taken in a reboot cycle, when you connect to the desktop software it does not have a stable connection to reinstall your software?

If this is the case, remove the battery and keep it off when you connect to the desktop software. You will get a pop up that the device cannot connect and there should be buttons retry, update and cancel. Select Update and you will then be able to reinstall the latest version of the device software.

When the load progresses, you will see a step that says "waiting for initialization of the devices '. At this point, insert the battery and recharging must complete.

  • BlackBerry smartphones to transfer from phone to computer

How can I transfer messages (for example a text conversation I had) from my phone to my computer (while I can store them on my computer as well as the texts discovered later on my computer)?

    You can:

    a. before the SMS as an email to your own email address

    b. make a backup in BlackBerry Desktop Manager > backup

Then use this backup file to extract SMS messages using some PC as ABC Amber IPD Converter or Magic BlackBerry Menstep software

  • Transfer data of blackBerry Smartphones in your old phone again using Desktop Manager

So I had an older curve, and now I have a brand new Curve 3 g.  The old phone is broken and I can't use the keyboard, but it remains recongizes the software when it is plugged in and I can load - that's why the data could not be transferred from my old phone to the new at the Verizon store.

So I want all contacts, my lists of things to do/pads, etc. transferred into the new phone with the help of Blackberry Manager on my PC (Vista).

"So I chose the ' device transfer Assistant" in the main menu and follow instructions - I get an error message that says, basically, I "should remove some applications on my existing device, because there is not enough space on the new device to their homes:

I don't understand this - the new phone has 256 MB of memory from 32 MB in the old phone, and I don't even have apps out there except facebook (I tried to delete my apps on the phone and he showed me as having been facebook...)

So, I tried unchecking various boxes on the screen asking me what I want to transfer and even with them all unchecked it always says there is not enough room for the transfer...

Am I doing this wrong?  I want to just my contacts and lists of tasks transferred to the new - I don't know what that thing on 'requests' and these words, but I want just that my data is transferred...

I will say that the Blackberry Manager application I have is very slow, not intuitive, and generally a huge pain in the * beep * work with - I think that a slick like Blackberry tech company would have would have a much better than this 'Blackberry Manager... "program  I am impressed with the Blackberry phones, but fear using this Blackberry Manager whenever I need to (for example when new ringtone on my phone)...

Many thanks for any help people can give me here!

You could go to www.blackberry.com and download/install the latest version. That may solve your problem.

However, have you tried simply to make a backup of the old device and restore on the new?

  • BlackBerry Smartphones on device backup APP?

I got my BB replaced the other day. I went to the Sprint store for a minor issue and the next thing you know I was getting a replacement phone. As a former Treo user, I was used to back up my Treo locally on the memory card is at least daily. Very necessary with a phone Palm. There was a problem with the implementation of the switch of the device and the store could not move my stuff. I brought my laptop and eventuall get things settled, but I really miss having a local backup. If I had had the same scenario of replacement with the Treo I would have run a backup right in the store and made a restoration in a minute or two on the new phone. Is there a reason any, that a local backup is not possible?

I do run a switch device regularly and capture the switch file and store it on the SD card with a copy of the office but?

There is a GREAT on the backup device application, called PhoneBakUp, which I use.

I really like and it saves to your media card or an email that you specify for the backup files must be sent.

It's a simple application of rescue in order to back up the address book, calendar, tasks and memos, nothing else is backup (no themes, applications, preferences.

Try it free, there is a link here

    I recommend it.

  • How blackBerry Smartphones wipe a backup and security for Blackberry Curve.

Hi all, first time poster, second spectator of time... If that makes sense!

New jobs and support of BlackBerry devices for the first time (mainly because I have one, ergo;) I'm an expert!). No problem it's always good to learn new things...

Well, that's my problem - I have a user who cannot respond to emails - I have read some posts that were all on the money as to why and how to solve them. My problem is I have to perform a back up and wipe security, but do not know how and was hoping someone could guide my way. What is a professional user I won't spoil and lose\delete his email and addresses, etc.

It is important that we use Notes and Domino (Boo!) instead of Outlook and Exchange? And it is an easy process?

    Thank you very much.

  • BlackBerry Blackberry Smartphones is supported their phones?

I looked around their site (BB) trying to find a phone or text support number.  I still can't sync calendar and get an warning 0x3b21 code when I try.  I have a couple of days before I keep the phone or return it.  Back is fine now.  I can't believe that for their phone support is so elusive.  I appreciate the work of you trying to solve problems on this forum, but blackberry is not a real tech support center? I just thought that I was frustrated when I couldn't get tech support English speaking personel service for my Dell.  It is a real frustration. I spent hours trying to get this to work on two different computers, both with Outlook 2000. I have re-installed with different messaging and options of Director and get nowhere.  If he's not going to work, would be someone just told me that Outlook 2000 don't sync with a 8310 and I will return to my cheep phone that works seamlessly.

Manufacturing for BlackBerry support is exactly the same you get to Windows. You must obtain suppor from which you bought the appliance. For example, if you buy an HP computer you must go back to HP for Windows support. If HP is unable to solve the problem, then HP may open a case with Microsoft on your behalf. Same thing with the BlackBerry. If you have purchased a Verizon BlackBerry, you must pass Verizon for support.
