  • BlackBerry smartphones can not access my address book

This morning while texting on Happy New Years greetings, I got an error message which I don't remember.  Now my address book no longer works.  When the address book icon is selected nothing happens.  I need to use the button hang up red to allow something to work.  Once the red button is presses that everything else seems to work.  My speed dial numbers still work. I can dial a number manually and it tells me the number that is so something is there.  When I get calls from people in my address book from the phone knows who they are.

Are the contacts to your BlackBerry address book and on your SIM card?

Or ONLY on your SIM card?

Open your address book, press the Menu key then click on filters and make sure that no filters are checked.

Now, back in the address book.

  • BlackBerry smartphones can not move contacts from 9000 to 9800

My old BB 9000, or more likely, DM 6.0 organize my contacts on my old phone hostage!

I had my 9800 yesterday and tried to run the Wizard "device." Everything looks good, no errors, everything works... then I have open Contacts and it is empty. Look at my old camera, everything is still there. Try the synchronization again and again, no luck. Trying to back up "All contacts" on 9000 then just that give back to 9800, does not work.

I think the problem is that on the 9000, I see three "lists of contacts" - two named Desktop and the other with my gmail address. It appears in fact as those associated with the gmail address move okay - except that only one contact is associated with this account! The rest seems to be distributed randomly among the other two inputs of funds.

I have tried everything I can think to manually backup/recover contacts from the old phone, but no matter how I try to sync, I don't the addresses associated with the gmail account or when I restore what seems to be a 'complete' backup all contacts disappear.

A side note, I didn't want/need to keep these contacts separate so if there is a way to merge together to solve as magically I will gladly do - unfortunately entered KB talking about this all reference ridiculously old versions of the software, so I don't know how to do with DM6 and the 9800.

It's ridiculously frustrating. Permutation of devices was such a breeze and a grand more for me in the past, who would have thought that RIM would make it more difficult/worse?

Let me know if I can give you more info!

Well, 3 days it took me to solve this problem, quite poor of general RIM experience - I hope that someone is watching. Here is the solution I found, based on the process here: http://www.berryreview.com/2010/06/03/faq-duplicate-desktop-or-unknown-contact-list-databases-found-...

Original problem - several book entries of "Desktop" addresses on my old phone, which apparently caused problems when you use the DM6 ' device' Wizard.

    Resolution:

    (1) of peripheral origin, take a backup and select only contacts 'Address Book - All.

    (2) Download ABC Amber Blackberry Editor (why I need a 3rd party tool to use my new phone!) as mentioned in the article.

    (3) open the .ipd file that contains the address book - all entries, do a save as and put them in a new file - they are now simply part of the primary address book.

    (4) this is where I spread article above - still, restore that backup on my new phone doesn't work but restore on my OLD phone actually. If that's what I did.

    (5) I reactivated my old phone on BES then used wireless sync to synchronize the address book to the server.

    (6) to the new phone, activate on BES and turn on the wireless sync, and voila, I have my address on my new phone... FINALLY.

The obvious answer here is ' well, if you had the wireless sync works properly in the first place that probably would have been avoided "which is quite true. However, as it is a personal device that I use to work for e-mail only, the camera itself has always been the source of my address information and it sync to my business account has been low on my priority list. I thought that saw DM configured to make weekly backups (which still occur whenever I plug in my phone, regardless of whether or not - a week spent yet another problem with shit DM6) would be sufficient coverage of the information available to me.

I hope someone finds this useful info and should not suffer through 3 days of hair pulling as I did.

  • Sync blackBerry smartphone Curve 8310 with outlook address book

Hi guys, I'm very new to blackberry and need your help.  Recently my company gave me a BB Curve 8310, all set up by them.  We have a BES.  My calendar and email works great.  No problems.  It's also good (round trip) sync with my outlook contacts.

My problem is with the company address book.  I was expecting when I compose an email it will go automatically pick the employees of the company when I start typing their name, as it happens on my outlook 2007.  But it's not.  All the time I have to type the full email address as [email protected].  However, it's looking for my personal contact to my contact list outlook 2007 personal.

    Help, please

If you are on a BES you have to do what is called a search. So if you're writing an email you can start typing in the name of a person. This should display a drop down menu where you can choose between 'Email ' or 'Search' If you choose search it will search for the name on the Global address book, and then you can select it. You should also have the option after he found the name to add the name of your contacts if you do not have to search for this person yet

  • SMS text new blackBerry Smartphones go directly into the address book

In my messages folder, when I select 'Compose SMS text' options are limited to the phone or Email and not my address book. I change all the settings, this just appeared out of the blue. Could someone here help?

I'm a bit confused by your statement, you can try and rephrase it please

In the meantime, try a battery Pull:
    1. remove the battery while the phone is turned on
    2. wait a few seconds before inserting it again
    3. wait for the long end of the boot process (takes a few minutes usually)

This clears most of the software problems that occur on the BlackBerry from time to time. You can also use Quickpull, a free application that simulates a battery pull without removing the battery: http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=27660
A battery pull gets lost when using the applications memory and clears minor software errors that creep over time. The blackberry is running an operating system just like your PC is running windows and battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot / restart your computer.

  • BlackBerry smartphone how to navigate the address book with no wheel

I recently lost my wheel and access my address book, just can't figure out how to navigate (scroll to the top and bottom).

    Thanks in advance.

    Greg V

    BlackBerry Curve 8310

Trackball on the 8310, not wheel.

If you open your address book, instead of scrolling upwards or downwards in the addressbook, just type the letters of the name you are looking for... J O h... will pull all the Johns, Johnson, etc. No scrolling required.

The trackball is not difficult to replace, you should be able to do it yourself once you have the replacement part.

Once you have selected 'Write' and the screen opens, you can toggle the sidebar of "Contacts" with F9. Near the top of the sidebar, you can select which address book to display. The sidebar will persist the next time you write as well.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones downloaded OS - missing icons, address book 4.5 different and I do not see improvements

    Hello

My newest version of BB does not appear to have a notebook of tasks or a help icon.  How can I get those back?

In addition, the address book list now with a space between entries (with the option of a line or something else between entries).  I don't like it - I'd rather have listed where I see on 10 entries or if by "page".  I looked, but could not find a setting to change how I like it.  Any ideas there?

Finally, what is the difference between 4.2 and 4.5?  I don't see anything new.  I saw somewhere on the site of BB 4.5 would be a few screens for additional funds, but I did not.  My bed 4.5.0.99 version.

    Thanks for the help.

The empty space is not an "empty" space, this is where the Company Contact name should appear, if you had one in there for a contact. Add a business to a contact, and see.

And no, you cannot remove or change the address book list view.

  • BlackBerry smartphones can not move images of the device towards Media Card memory, or a copy of PC

A mess of configuration sent pictures to a folder in the device memory.  (Device memory/Home/User/images) All my previous photos went to the memory card. (Media Card/Blackberry/pictures)  I'm not able to move the photos in the folder of the memory of the device, or the card memory or my PC.  Procudes downbload 'Move' and normal PC does not work (I can't in the files of the memory of the device through my PC and the Blackberry won't let me spend the memory of the device to the media card).  These photos will be lost if I can't move.  I don't want to send by e-mail. How can I move the photos in device memory/Home/User/photos either the press or to my PC card.  Help!

I just did this on my phone, so I know it works. On your phone, go to the media folder, press key (options) BB - and select Explorer. Select the device memory and find your images open, your photo will be displayed in an orThumbnails of the list, choose the image that you want to move and cut it. go back ot Media Card, then select Paste to the folder you want that it to. You may need to do this with all the pictures, one at a time, as I couldn't copy/cut the whole folder. All photo Apps that you also make sure that you place to save on media card. Good luck
