BlackBerry Smartphones Can I use a Storm 9550?

Hi, Im currently using a 1 Storm 9500 model provided to my local network, Globe Telecom in the Philippines here. When I heard about the Storm 2, I was so excited but unfortunately was informed by Globe they won't promote or Storm 2 of marketing. Not even the other network.

Then, he left me no choice than to search one unlocked Storm 2 (openline) on the open market. Today, I saw a local store selling a Storm 2 9550 with a Verizon marking model. The staff told me that it was unlocked by the factory. However in my internet browsing, I was told that model 9520 are destined for Asia and Europe while 9550 is for North America and the United States.

A website says that if you use a 9520 in the USA, only GPRS would work and not the 3G because USA network is different. So, my concern now is if vice versa, I bought the unlocked 9550 and use it in the Philippines, does that mean that the 9550 will not work on our 3G here being different to the American system?

Enjoy an advisor if please if I should get the 9550 or look for a 9520 unlocked that is intended for Asia and Europe.

Please notify.

Thank you very much

Hello

Without a doubt, you can use a Storm2 on your network. I use my Storm 2 (that I bought on ebay from the us.) in Hungary without any problem, even here there is no carrier that has this device in their portfolio. The only thing you need to check is the frequency of computer networks. This is supported by Storm 2 9550:

  • Quad-band: networks of MHz GSM® / GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900
  • Single band: 2100 MHz UMTS/HSPA networks
  • Dual band: 800/1900/information MHz CDMA/Ev-DO Rev A networks

AFAIK, Storm 1 supports the same thing, so I don't know that you can use safely storm 2 without any problems.

Hmm... I don't know why your BBM contacts are suspended.

    • I would try to backup your BBM contacts on your media card (open BBM > Menu key > Options > backup locally to media card).
    • Then, to delete BBM on your device in Options > advanced > Applications (options > device > Applications)
    • Perform a simple reboot on the BlackBerry this way: with smart BlackBerry poweredphone, remove the battery for a minute and then reinsert the battery to restart.
    • Now, reinstall BBM using your Blackberry browser to www.blackberry.com/bbm

Perform a simple reboot on the BlackBerry this way: with smart BlackBerry poweredphone, remove the battery for a minute and then reinsert the battery to restart. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most defects and errors of operating system, and you will lose any data on the device doing so.

Now, try your calendar again. If it continues to not open, please give us some useful in detail... any error message?

  • BlackBerry smartphones can be used without a SIM card?

    Hello

a storm can be used without a SIM card?
When I fire, I can make a call emergency or release.

but without card SIM, how can I unlock it? is there a bogus code like 0000?

    Do you mean "unlock" as in the carrier unlock to use other carriers;

Or release of the password? You can do the PW unlock with no SIM card in the device, it works perfectly, no calls, data, etc..

  • After upgrade blackBerry smartphones - can not use headphones! Only the speaker!

After the upgrade to the new operating system, I can't use the headset.   I hear nothing and no one can hear me speak.  When I change to speaker that works - but who wants to go through life with everyone heard your calls!

This phone is essential for businesses and I am very frustrated - thought the new upgrade, it would be better, but it made it worse.

Can someone help me please? !!!

It happened to a number of us.  It takes some futzing with it to return to normal.  You have the headphones supplied with the phone?  Headphones or, for that matter?  If so, try connecting and then doing a battery pull.  With the connected headset and the device on, remove the battery, wait a few seconds, then replace the battery and wait for the device to reboot.  Others have lived the media player and selected a song to play.  While the song is played, insert the headset, then click on the BlackBerry Menu button (the button with seven points next to the green button ' phone'), click Activate combined and see what happens.  You will have to perhaps to plug and unplug the helmet a few times to 'train' the phone again.  Finally got mine back to normal and it worked fine since.  Seems you just need a "jump start" with the activation of the handset to the headset.

    I hope this helps!

  • BlackBerry smartphones can not use APP World

    Hello world

I have a problem with my BB tourch 9800 and I already have the blackberry service, but I can not use APP World when I open it I get this message (blackberyy APP World is not currently available in your country. Please check blackberry.com appworld for updates). so is there another way to download and install blackberry applications?

    not: iam in Iraq

    operator: Asiacell

Hello and welcome to the community!

Please check this page to ensure that you meet the minimum requirements (including if it is available in your country):

If it is available in your country and you feel you meet the requirements at the level of the device, and then contact your provider to make sure you meet the requirements of the plan (to them) access (via their network) service to AppWorld.

In addition, the latest version of the AppWorld is currently accessible only through your corporate data network - WiFi is not used for access to AppWorld under any circumstances. Therefore, you must subscribe to a sufficient level data plan so that the AppWorld to function.

    • KB23854"a data plan is required to use this feature" sometimes appears in BlackBerry App World

Further still, you should know that AppWorld is simply a portal, vending apps developed mainly by others. Therefore, it is not your exclusive supply source - there are others that you can try:

    • AppWorld in some countries
    • MobiHand worldwide
    • Handango worldwide
    • BPlay worldwide
    • GetJAR worldwide

I found that there are very few applications that is exclusive to AppWorld. You can see the online catalogue and then look for other sources of supply, including quite often on the developer website.

Finally, understand that RIM has no unilateral control over the availability of AppWorld. They must ensure that they and their partners meet local laws and operating a system of e-commerce legislation - and that can take time. AppWorld is in more than 110 countries now and adding more every month.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry smartphones can not use quick key to search for contact & no history when lock phone

    Hi all

I just got a new Torch 9800 that is connected to & configured server of my company blackberry. I also use Chinese entry (writing function key) and two problems below, pls help:

    (1) cannot use the quick key to search for contact when using phone, for example to enter a 'P', it will show "Peter" and "Peggy" from the contact list contact. I can only choose after selecting "call for contacts.
Initially, I didn't know when this function has stopped. After several rounds of tests, more likely, it happened after I switched the input to the Chinese language and has not switched back to English at the same time.

I found that several KBs can relate to this problem, KB13326, 14372, 04052. And followed the advice but still don't work except if I cold start the phone, i.e. remove the battery. He returned to normal. Once I have change the language again, the problem returns.

    (2) I put my phone to the phone call when it is locked. When the phone is locked, cannot display call log history. A few days before, he was not. Don't know what that value and make this problem.

In addition, how to cold start the phone without out the battery and install additional appl (company does not download other app).

    Thanks in advance.

    Patrick.

If your company blocks applications, there is not much you can do, but pray with IT to let you have access to them.

There is an app called quickpull that can restart the phone, but a battery pull works best to clear the temporary files and the cache.

Sorry I never messed with the languages.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Can I use my BB8900 charger on my new BB9800?

I can't find any documentation that explains my old charger (RIM Pt # HDW - 17955 - 001) is or is not approved for use with my new 9800. It is provided only with a Micro USB cable that plugs into an AC adapter. Since I'm working on 2 sites, I like to keep a single source at each location. The little booklet with my new phone listed "Chargers approved by ' with references starting with EASY and my old charger isn't any number like him. I wish their documentation easier.

Yes, the 8900 charger is perfectly fine to use to load the 9800.

Both devices have the micro USB port... the 8900 was the first device RIM have the micro-USB port.

You can even use the Mini-USB Chargers on new devices with a simple Micro-Mini USB adapter.

I bought about 5 of these cards for the family so that we can keep the Chargers, etc.

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Since you do not know where to go, I'll suggest to start again...

    (1) strictly regarding the RIM software uninstall from your PC:

    • KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software

    (2) download a new copy of the Desktop software:

    • I suggest to use the package v5.0 without Media Manager English - which will have everything you need. Optionally, you can DL the USB drivers only, but then you will not have the full DTM application, which helps you keep your BB up-to-date as allows you to perform a backup on a regular basis.

    (3) download a new copy of your OS Package of device:

    (4) install this OS Package of device on your PC (it changes the RIM Desktop software with the stuff specific to your device on your operator)

    (5) follow these instructions to configure everything to use your BB to your PC:

    • You can jump on the download and installation of the Desktop Software market - you already have those.

    (6) with that, everything should work. If this is not the case, here are some troubleshooting tips:

    • KB02640 Troubleshooting USB connections
    • KB15486 Top 10 smartphone BlackBerry and BlackBerry Desktop Manager troubleshooting tips
    • KB00019 PIN code not displayed in BlackBerry Desktop Redirector

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

  • BlackBerry smartphones can I use my BB9790 on WIFI to other countries

Im going to South Africa, via Dubai, and I want to use my blackberry bold 9790 at Dubai Airport with hotspot wifi free.

I've already activated plan BIS on my number in my country of origin, is it possible that I can use my BB Phone as other android handset and the iphone at the airport from other countries on wifi?

Hello and welcome to the community!

As long as you have a BIS plan assets of any carrier, then you should be able to use data services via WiFi from anywhere on the planet. Probably you have to all the services of voice at the level, but you should be able to use all services of data via WiFi.

    Good luck!
