  You cannot call of IM, there is no way to download Skype by one of my call provider. I mean it is a good smartphone bold 9900 should be Celsius to have Skype, I just hope that Skype comes out.

  I read the user manual, but I still wonder why the bold has Internet / Hotspot / Planet 3 (I'm on 3 Australia) browsers.

  The manual gives situations for each of them, but surely, it would be enough. In addition to being unable to change the Planey 3 browser home page, I see no difference.

  Also, what is the use of the browser identification option (IE, Firefox, etc.). I couldn't find it in the manual.

  Paul, different browsers to connect in different ways to the internet. For example, the Hotspot browser connects via WiFi.

  And, the emulations of Firefox and IE 'say' the site you visit what type of browser you are using, which means that you emulate, to allow the site appear on your screen. For example, I keep mine set to "BlackBerry", which tells the site that I visit from a mobile device and some sites will appear in a mobile format version. Using FF or IE, the site should display everything like you would see on a PC.

  I recommend that you try to start safe mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a smartphone BlackBerry in Mode safe

  It will take several attempts to get the combination of keys ESC (press/release/hold) OK, so be patient. When properly in Safe Mode, see what happens.

  If the behavior continues, then well... think what happened just before this behavior started? A new application? An update? A theme? Something else? Think carefully that the slightest change can be causal... and try to undo all that was.

  But if the behavior continues mode without failure, you may need to consider more drastic measures - WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload and the process of reloading OS 'skeleton '.   Right, I'm DESPERATELY need your help with my BB Bold 9800, because it's just the engine me bananas... so I BEG someone to help me

  SO, here's the problem... every time it turns on it will continuously play an alert ring tone, vibrate and flash (sorry, I don't remember what it's called, but it is the small point on the phone itself which you can Set up for flash in color).  If I leave it alone, it stops eventually after having to put up with it sounds & vibrant 10 times (except for the light from the flash), UNLESS I have just to click on the 'Messages' - even though I have no texts - and he will then just stop all together.

  It also does not matter if it is set to Silent, ring only, vibrate only etc.  I really don't want to re - start because it means having to re - load all over it again, which is just a pain in the back! Can someone tell me PLEASE how to stop doing all these weird things?

  Just do a battery pull. While the unit is turned on, remove the battery for 15-30 seconds, then reinsert the battery and wait for the device to reboot. It will wipe all the data of the device and is basically the same idea as your computer restarts. Once you're phone has rebooted, you'll be back running.

  When you say re - start, I think that you need to refer to the upgrade or reload the operating system as a regular battery reboot to shoot a smartphone BlackBerry does not affect the data stored on the device.

  If this does not help, check if you have a program installed as BeBuzz.  Some programs will allow you to customize your phone notifications, and that could be the culprit if the battery pull does not solve the problem.

  Download the operating system for the carrier and use the Application Loader within the Desktop Manager software (that came with the box) and select Arabic with the language options (if it is an option).

  Alternatively you could install the operating system of an Arab company (is to delete the vendor.xml file), but this is not recommended.

  The operating system of software downloaded from the Blackberry site contains all of the files required to recharge the o/s.
  The Desktop Manager software is NOT necessary!

  Once downloaded and installed, follow these instructions:

  • Download the file from the OS from the website of your carrier to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double click) the downloaded file.
  • Go to c:\program files Research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
  • Plug in BB and double-click on "Loader.exe." It is located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

  The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on the amount of data you need to back up and restore during the process. Once he did load the new OS, it will reboot (it may do it twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with a hourglass up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."   With the BlackBerry device powered time, remove battery for a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to restart.

  I have an old 9650 "BOLD" that was initially linked to the Sprint network.  I ordered a new SIM from Mobal international SIM card and now my 9650 has successfully used two local GSM providers (AT & T and T-Mobile) and managed to make phone calls.

  When the phone starts up, it always says Sprint and shows my old sprint phone number which is not the same as the number assigned to my new SIM card.  Is there a way to remove this information and or wipe clear my BB to his "original non-Sprint State.

  This initial carrier 'splash screen' is hard coded and cannot be changed. When the devices are manufactured, they are made for a specific carrier... and some of these companies have deals where this start screen is included. But it doesn't mean anything... If your device is carrier/MEP unlocked, then the splash screen shows just what the VendorID of the device (which is initially made for carrier). Unlocked is unlocked, regardless of the start screen (but you cannot change the home screen... it is permanent).

  It might be that Sprint and/or from your current provider or do something on their networks... but you would need to enquire with them. Move a CDMA device to a non-CDMA service can be difficult, with many of the latent unexpected results (like this one). You can also find other useful KBs on point... you need to search for more.

  Safe mode is simply a tool of diagnosis... not intended for normal operations.

  My new BlackBerry Bold 9930 heats up on calls and when on the internet? Did someone elses get like this? Its not hot but warm enough.

  This is not uncommon.  Your phone will heat up slightly when the processor is active during a telephone conversation, or when several applications are running simultaneously.  You might also find it heats when you stream videos.  If it becomes so hot you can fry an egg on it, post back and we can look at a few options, but until then, this is nothing to worry.

  When I try to sync the apps that I am now facing 3 downgrades Twitter, Facebook & OS7.  I think that OS7 always prompted for a downgrade.  Surely, the app store knows which phone/operating system (Bold 9790 7.1) I run then why it auto update for non-compliant in the first place?  Or is it a cynical attempt to force me to update my device?

  It's just a way to load new versions of the OS or applications. You don't need to use it on a regular basis. Just make periodic backups and you're good.

  This looks like a momentary glitch kind... I suggest that you clear the cache of the AppWorld application:

  1. open the App World

  2. go to my world

  3. follow one (and only one!) of these steps:

  3. for the BB keyboard-oriented - hold down the ALT key and press on, in the sequence R, then S, then T

  3B. for touch screen only BBs - hold the num-lock (! 123 button) so that it hangs and then press on, in the sequence 3, then 4, then)

  3 c for the most recent (e, g., OS6 and 7) BB s, see this KB:

  4 AppWorld must close

  5. If your BB locks after issuing clear cache, do a battery pull reboot

  6. return to AppWorld/MyWorld (it can be slow, while it re - sync).

  If (4) stage arrives not as described, then the empty the cache failed.
