  Computer wireless card is 2.4 GHz.  Therefore, the Chromecast should work.  Here's a good guidewith a video to help you install it.

  Hey people, trying to make my old laptop back to semi in working order.  Did a fresh install of Vista, but the wireless card for some reason any will not access the internet, says "local use."   As far as I know, the machine does not support the Wlan and has not been equipped with all Wlan cards.
  If you want to connect the computer to the WLan router then I would recommend using a USB WiFi key that would be the simplest solution.

  There are different sticks USB Wlan that supports different Wlan standards; 802.11 B or G, you must choose one that is compatible with your WLan router.
