Bloatware on new dv7

HP is the undisputed king of Bloatware and I knew that before I bought this laptop, but the coupon code I had this makes a much better deal than their competitors.

I uninstalled all the garbage from cyberlink and most of the junk from HP.  My respects to the question:

HP Installer

HP Advisor

under uninstall programs under win7

I already ran HP setup which is basically just a HP registration program.  Well it does not uninstall after this, it remains on the start menu and you can run it over and over again, lol.  It also contains my personal info.  All the consequences of this uninstaller?

HP Advisor wants to launch this stupid dock and I don't want a frickin running dock.  It seems that total failware.

The only thing I intend to leave under HP in the start menu is "HP Support Assistant", seems ok and I heard that you need to get the hp remote support.

Comments?  suggestions? format c:?

THX

HP Setup is just for the initial registration. You can uninstall this program and are not required.

HP Advisor monitors the integrity of the system and allows easy access to troubleshooting solutions. HP Advisor also displays information of the computer, including the details of the guarantee and the connections to devices, such as printers. If you don't like this software, you can even uninstall this program.

HP Support Assistant is the new support for HP utility that will give a lot of help. I recommend you to have on your system.

No, I'm sorry to say that they will not. Although most of the features that people used to use pcmcia cards is attended the computers internal laptop is still a rude awakening for a lot of people when they can use the old card mobile broadband on this new laptop and they must spend more money to get a usb or expresscard version.

  • Brand new dv7-7212nr want missing SW or config for SSD?

Just bought a new non-custom desire dv7-7212nr 2 days ago.  Main specifications are:

    3rd gen i7-3630QM

750 GB 7200 RPM HARD drive

Drive hard acceleration Cache 32 GB SSD

    8 GB OF SDRAM

    Windows 8

Other components are irrelevent to my questions or situation.

The wording 'Hard Drive Acceleraton Cache 32 GB SSD' spec would mainly means the technology Intel Rapid Storage, perhaps combined with the Intel Quick start technology.  Yet, on this computer, I can find only an Intel Rapid Start Technology Manager.

In Panel of-> system and security-> administration-> computer management tools > storage-> disk management, I can see disk 0 to 699 GB with several partitions, which include the OS (C) and (D) RECOVERY.

Disc 1 has proved to have an 8 GB partition.

I find that disk 1 is the SSD and this computer has only the Intel Rapid Start SW technology and configuration.  I read on the internet for this tech in fast ignition to work, an SSD should have a partition that is exactly the same size as the SDRAM.

My first set of questions are: 1) is my correct conclusion? (2) how HP put in an SSD of 32 GB and uses only 8 GB of it?

I chatted online with an HP support who asked me to download from a website for HP Intel Rapid Storage Technology and SW drivers and assured me that the installation would not cause any problems or conflicts with the existing configuration, and so I did.  I have no ill effect (yet), but it doesn't seem to be that a good effect is.  On the one hand, it is supposed to be a new 'Intel Rapid Storage Technology' application, but there is none.  So HP support and I can not go further, and support suggested that I do a system recovery, return the setting to factory.  I told him the computer is 2 days, and I to him did nothing other than downloads, that he asked me to do.

My next set of questions are: a) HP wouldn't put in quick start and quick storage in this product, taking into account the SSD of 32 GB? (b) is there a way to add storage now fast SW and config to envy dv7-7212nr to fully use the 32 GB of SSD? (c) do I keep off to pass my own files on this computer before the problem of cache SSD?

Finally, I did the Windows experience index runs on the computer and got a score of 5.9 on performance of the hard disk.  I read on the internet that the score is in line with the performance of disk HARD 7200 RPM, which suggests no effect of cache SDS.

I realize I'm putting in a long post, but I wanted to provide enough information for the experts to evaluate and give answers.

    Thank you very much!

So, how do I know / check / detect that the other 24G of the 32 GB of SSD is used for the RAID config? Thought that the RAID has not SSD.

I looked at the config of the BIOS at startup; It shows no option for TSRI but only Intel Rapid Start Tech. It seems that the dv7-7212nr want to support any, TSRI unlike advertising on the dv7-7212nr box.

First of all, make sure that you download and install the driver of technology Intel Rapid STORAGE for the Envy HP dv7-7212nr here:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-112591-1&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en&OS=4132&product=5309489&sw_lang=

After installation, find Intel Rapid Storage Technology and run. It must start with a screen that looks like this:

It's my real desire HP dv7-7212nr. The screen may be slightly different from mine because I fiddled with technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology (for example, the default Cache volume is 22 GB, where, as mine said 21 GB). Although the WSSD is 32 GB, the size displayed in the Windows is always less than the specified size (30 GB instead of 32 GB). Similarly, the 750 GB hard drive is displayed as GB 699.

As you may already know, the 8 GB data volume is configured as a partition hibernation for Intel Quick START technology, and the rest, 21 GB in my case, is used as cache acceleration to Intel Rapid STORAGE Technology. The status of SATA (750 GB HDD) drive "fast-track" means that the hard drive is "fast-track" by the cache on the SSD drive and that it is configured and working properly. You can easily change these settings if you take the time to read and learn about it; for example, you can disable the quick START (hibernation partition) and use the whole SSD for fast STORAGE (acceleration).

Your BIOS should certainly have an entry indicating the Intel Rapid STORAGE technology works properly. I forgot the exact name of it, but I will edit this post to let you know what he said exactly once that I reboot to enter the BIOS again.

Edit: In the BIOS, go to System Configuration > UEFI Device Configuration (under Intel Rapid Start technology) > technology Intel Rapid Storage Technology and you should see a screen similar to mine below:

As you can see, I've fiddled with my setup of the WSSD, and so my quick partition start (hibernation) is in fact 8.3 GB (slightly larger than the default value) and my cache volume is 21.5 GB (slightly smaller than the default value).

    Hello

303 code is a short HDD test failed, so it would seem that the reader has a physical problem and needs to be replaced - as you are still within the time limit to have the phone replaced, that's what I highly recommend do you.

Link to download Windows 8 (not Pro) 64-bit OEM .iso:

You don't know how to burn an .iso in a bootable drive, right? I still think 64 GB will be very tight, but if you exercise the discipline as ensuring the program installation and 'My Documents' on the other drive, you might be OK. Remove the drive from 750 GB during the installation of Windows 8... only have the SSD into the computer and make sure it is in the primary Bay. The drivers and preinstalled programs must be in an on the original drive swsetup folder in the c: / root.

It is hosted outside on google reader in the cloud and when you go to download, you will get a "we can't find the virus ' warning. I can say that I downloaded and used about 60 days ago to do exactly what you do... reinstall Win 8 on another hard disk on a new computer. It has worked well and there is no virus. You want to scan once you download it, however.

  • Pavilion DV7 the touchpad buttons not responding

My new dv7 (select edition, windows 7-64 b) knows a few difficulties, right click. When I connect the USB mouse with buttons right and left I can right click but areas to the left and make touchpad a right-click differ at all. When I type in the box to right click, he left snaps; When I type in the box to left click, it left clicks. When I tap anywhere on the pad, he left clicks. I installed the latest synaptic drivers, the device properties window tells me that I am using synaptic clickpad V7.4. The tab buttons has a right click button Setup do secondary clicks and all the listening and the buttons are enabled, but still no right click. Looking at some pages of support on the hp website (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00678194), I noticed that the screenshot they show from the menu 'tapping' seems different from what I have on my computer. Namely, that i miss the section "tap zones".

If anyone can shed some light on this mystery, I would be very grateful.

    -Sam

To start with you are tapping on right click area or pushing down? new touchpad on laptop new HP design is this button clicks are now integrated into the touchpad itself, but you will still need to make a physical click. Typing in the box click it will operate as a left click as it would activities tap the touchpad function...

  • Adding a second drive to a dv7-2180us

I recently bought a new dv7-2180us to replace my older zv5000 of 5 years who has been/is having supply problems. I want to take the drive of the zv5000 and place as a 2nd hard drive in the new laptop (mainly because I don't want to have to fight to keep the old lit long enough to transfer files). Is it possible to do so, and if so do I need something more to mount the drive.

    Thanks for any help.

    Sabrina

Not exactly. The drive is not compatible with the equipment of the new HP. (IDE connector old to a more recent IDE to Sata connector.)

You could get an external enclosure and get this support, or you could get a cable adapter, like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812156015

I recommend the latter, myself. I have one and it works fantastic for information on older hard drives. It does not have technical knowledge to use, but I think you could probably understand.
