Blocking of unreliable Sites based on referral?

Is it possible to block inbound web traffic based on the http_referrer? We find more in addition to the sites that link to the images on our site and I would like to try to block this traffic to eliminate theft of bandwidth. I would this dump on the firewall and blocked it. Some of the recommended writing an ISAPI filter for this block at the level of the Web server. If possible I want blocked higher up the chain.

TIA.

Tim

It is specific to the http protocol theoretically and perhaps even a specific web site - a Web host might have 100s of web sites on the same web server, which each might want different configurations for this misuse of image. The pix is not really an application-level firewall, and even those who are without doubt the (checkpoint, prey, etc.), do not provide such a context.

For IIS, ISAPI filter may be your only option. I never had to deal with that, probably, but heard reminder that it is a pain to deal with IIS, whereas with apache it may be processed out of the packing box (without adding the isapi filters), IIRC

  • Latest Firefox block reported attack sites...

    Hi all, in the latest version of Firefox, the option "firefox block reported attack sites" is enabled by default. My question is, mettle is listed as one of these Web sites. I use mettle to allow people to download photos from events that I cover without having to affect the speed of my site... granted some might use mettle for wrong reasons, but not all.
    So, what can I do? Not all visitors to my website would have the knowledge to turn this setting off...

    Block page has been enabled by default for years, but blocking download has been added more recently, perhaps around early March when there was a wave of messages on it.

    The list of bad sites come from secure Google service. Downloads of Firefox updated lists of blocking at regular intervals. It is questionable to block a whole file, hosting site based on a bad user, so I hope that the next iteration of the data file removes the block; We are all at the mercy of the data on it.

    To check where your date file has been updated, you can watch here (type or paste into the start menu search box and press enter or use the Windows Run dialog box):

    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

    It's the cache and temporary files folder corresponding to your active profile folder. Double-click your most recently updated and secure profile folder. Normally, you will find that the files have been updated within the last day.

    I respectfully disagree with you about Firefox...

    The code of Firefox is so bad that I only use it as a last resort. Constantly, it crashes and has done this on several PCs in 2 or 3 years.

    In any case thanks for the suggestions, but it turned out malware that Panda deleted.

    If Firefox is a 'last resort', why you use it to check your emails? Do you use Google Chrome to access Google mail? I've never had problems with Firefox, then maybe I'm just lucky.

    Added the: Chrome and IE are coded by companies funded by programmers. Firefox is a program open source funded through donations to not-for-profit, which means that's what users are doing. If the 'bad code' is probably just different, not bad.

    My only intention is to create a model/site based URM where we can provide functionality to scan for users. We want a distributed feature where users can scan the images remotely and commit to the WCC:Records / URM.

    Is it possible to be done through Oracle distributed Document capture (ODDC) and if it is possible how to connect ODDC with the client browser. Please suggest

    Ok. So, the answer is certainly: Yes, it is possible.

    The part of analysis, this is exactly what ODDC is good for. Unless you have the license already, however, you may have to go with the product to Capture Oracle WebCenter (large companies), which provides the necessary also.

    Regarding the validation and storage, ODDC/ODC/WebCenter Capture can commit images scanned at several depots, including University Complutense of MADRID (URM can be considered a Complutense University of MADRID with a specific purpose / several modules or components under voltage and configured). So, technically, he has no problem.

    When I have little doubt, however, is the meaning of the scenario - declaring an item as a record is an important event in the life cycle of the document - a record is often (or always) cannot be changed to ensure the integrity and non-repudiation of information. In this perspective, a direct validation of a recording of a scanning system (where errors such as bad scans, lack of pages, etc can be expected, particularly if the scanning is performed by the end user in a distributed fashion - so, not very experienced) seems a little dangerous.

  • I have a question comparing Dreamweaver and Muse.  Can I create a website with Muse, then learn Dreamweaver, and edit the site Web of Muse?  Or would I need to start over with a new Web site based on Dreamweaver?

    I have a question comparing Dreamweaver and Muse.  Can I create a website with Muse, then learn Dreamweaver, and edit the site Web of Muse?  Or would I need to start over with a new Web site based on Dreamweaver?

    I went the same route. I started to want to learn web design and the Muse is an excellent tool. The code it generates, however, not to use it in Dreamweaver. This could be done, I think this isn't worth it, even for a real Geek. Once you get to Muse you will find there are things missing, stuff, you want to do, but are just tough in Muse or you can buy a widget. It is possible in DW and you get which through subscription, so it makes sense. Me what I know now, I'll go directly to DW to learn, except if you want results right now. If you don't want something to cause I stay with Muse and maybe learn to animate CC to add some pizazz to the site. If you only want a simple layout and a couple supporting stick with Muse pages if you want a larger site use DW. Good luck and check out this page to Muse on Google Plus Adobe Muse for beginners - community - Google +...

    Ok.  This is due to the appearance of the browser scrollbars.

    To solve the problem in FF, add this to your CSS:

  • E1000 - block specific Web site during a specific time period

    All,

    I use E1000 2.1.02 firmware that I am trying to block youtube site between 14:00 to 15:00 in all of my network

    I have added a rule matched under settings in the tab retsriction access

    restricting access = allow
    days = every day
    time = 14:00-15:00
    blocking url 1 = youtube.com Web site

    This works as expected within 14:00 to 15:00, but outside this period of time, all Web sites are blocked. How to make all Web sites such as youtube, accessed outside 14:00-15:00?

    Ben

    Finally got this work based on the idea of jdwassman in post

    http://homecommunity.Cisco.com/T5/wireless-routers/E2000-access-restrictions/m-p/382249/highlight/tr...

    If someone else need, use two rules below. Any order of the rule.

    policy = time limit site name (any name)
    Applied Pcs = IP = 192 range. 168 1. 0 to 254 (all IP addresses)
    restricting access = allow
    days = every day
    time = 14:00-15:00
    blocking url 1 = youtube.com Web site

    name of the policy = all allow (any name)
    Applied Pcs = IP = 192 range. 168 1. 0 to 254 (all IP addresses)
    restricting access = allow
    days = every day
    time = 24 hrs

  • What are the consequences of blocking of monitoring sites that I find in the add-on?

    -I'm not a programmer, but I love Firefox. I just added add-on and would like to block certain sites I see, but when I get the warning I walk back. When will I know that I can safely block a site without interfering with the sites I visit in fact? Thank you!

    There are many levels of blocking... If you mean that you're not some servers set cookies, or for Firefox to send cookies back to them, that they have been previously defined, maybe it's not a problem for servers unrelated, such as advertising servers, because the main site depends on whether these servers can recognize whether you.

    It's a little more complicated for social networking sites who have sharing buttons in all directions. Because these servers are not linked to sites where their sharing buttons appear, you may be able to block cookies when you're on these sites so not everything in life ends by in memory without any background of your social network. The gross distinction between 'third party' and 'first party' cookies does not always a good job in these situations. Add - ons may provide a smarter solution.

    I suggest more research! And a little experimentation because it is usually easy to remove a block specific sie cookie.
