Bluescreens and hal.dll

I get frequent bluescreens for months.  Sometimes two or three a day.  Recently, I reformatted my computer and reinstalled Windows, which did not help in the slightest.  They occur at any time, is not serious if I am playing games or if the computer is sitting idle.

System Specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
NVIDIA NForce 680i SLI
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.66 GHz
4 GB OF RAM

Below information gathered from the program BlueScreenView.  It's just the past three breaks down, because they are always the same.

Thank you!

All except a depressed that you downloaded came from bugs 0 x 124. Unfortunately, the pshed.dll file (error on hardware detection specific platform) on your system doesn't have a published public symbols, is not possible to get the data structures necessary to extract more details landfills.  If you can download c:\windows\system32\pshed.dll from your system to SkyDrive, which can help get the symbols which can lead to additional details.  That said, you don't seem to be a hardware problem, probably processor or motherboard.  Try some of what follows, but you may wind up checking in some hardware replacement.  Make sure that the cooling and ventilation system. Test the RAM, reinsert the processor and RAM if you can.  If the BIOS is the most recent, consider to return to a previous version and see if that helps.  Otherwise, update the BIOS.  Also check the BIOS settings; Perhaps, note the current settings, reset the default settings of the BIOS and then to adjust these parameters are needed to settle, you know.  Check the voltage, etc. and ensure/verify the motherboard CPU compatibility.  If you are overclocking, stop.

I suggest to change your return to its 2660 MHz CPU frequency expected, his current 3500 MHz. (ratio OC 1.31 for your valued at 2.66 GHz Q6700 .)

    I downloaded a virus on my computer that wouldn't let my computer startup message wasn't system32\hal.dll Windows didn't start because the following file is missing or damaged.  I went into the recovery console and tried to repair the files what happened was now I can start only on my storage drive and it will stay running only for a few minutes and then the computer shuts down. At startup in the bios it is that one illustrious disc which is my small storage disk not the large drive box and not CD drive. A few days ago everything worked well today can't get to run long enough to fix it.

    What a mess!

    Are you saying that the PC does not see the CD drive? Or that Windows could not see it?
    What is the brand and model of your PC? Are you able to get into the BIOS to see if the CD drive is listed? If so, you can then change order of device for the start-up of the PC then it stops on the CD instead of the hard drive.
    Links for bootable CD:
    Software to burn a bootable CD from a .iso file:
    The drive being SATA Seagate, I wonder if you need to make a setting in the BIOS.
    I also wonder what will happen if you remove the Seagate and equip the Maxtor, then start with the disks to run RC. I still think that the Maxtor drive has an MBR on it!
    I think that your first course of action is to see if this CD player works or not (independent of WIndows).

    I was trying to stop some HP programs to start when I start my desktop computer. I did the following: start > run > msconfig.  Click on startup and unchecked HP four applications. Restarted my desktop computer and immediately had a black screen with the following message:

    A1. Wise move IMHO. The computer seems "snappier" now?

    A2. I can't imagine that another owner of a Dimension 8400 (or 4800?) has not encountered this problem before. Discover (i.e., search) the Dell office equipment forum: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514.aspx. If necessary, start your own new thread (registration required).

    A4. Welcome & thank you for your comments.

    In fact, there is something else you may need to do: it turns out that KB2607712 is replaced by the KB2616676 in Vista & Win7; Windows XP needs to have both installed [despite the mention you referred in your post on September 14, above] !!!

    => So if Update for Windows XP (KB2607712) is NOT listed in Add/Remove Programs, you will need to manually download/install a revised version [long story, involved - you don't want to know]:

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ACTIONS:
    1. open Internet Explorer to http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=27244 & click on the button CONTINUE.
    2. after VALIDATION, download the installer for KB2607712 & save it to your desktop - NOT run again!
    3. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).
    4. double-click on the file that you saved in #2 above to install the update. Follow all the instructions (reboot required).
    5. check that the Update for Windows XP (KB2607712) is now listed in Add/Remove programs.
  • I tried to reinstall windows xp on my computer and I got a message < root windows > \systems32\hal.dll. I tried to use a disc of windows xp cd and nothing works for me. my pc came with windows pre-installed on it btw. can someone help me fix it
    I tried the suggestion on the error message and nothing works
    Hi Honee,
    Please, try the following.
    You must boot your PC with the XP cd-rom Setup disk, if you have
    one.
    Then, when you get to the screen with the following option appears:
    To repair a Windows XP installation using
    Recovery Console, press R.
    Then press [R] to launch the "Recovery Console".
    When confronted by a prompt asking for the administrator password - just
    Press [ENTER]
    After his start in RC - type the following command:
    Expand x:\i386\hal.dl_ c:\windows\system32\hal.dll
    (where [x] is the letter of your cd drive)
    * NB If SP3 is installed - then the command that you type must be:
    Copy c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386\hal.dll c:\windows\system32
    ... instead, because the files are of two different levels of review
    (versions).
    Then restart.
    I hope this helps!
  • Blue Screen Error Code Caused by hal.dll and ntkrnlpa.exe 9F.
    original title: BSOD error Code Caused by hal.dll and ntkrnlpa.exe 9F.
    Currently, I'm having a problem on a Fujitsu T1010 with Windows Vista x 84 installed tablet. At a random time that I use my computer, I get a generic blue screen with information DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. The error code is 0x0000009F (0 x 00000003, 0x86f692e0, 0x86f692e0, 0x865a6598). BlueScreenView.exe, I see that the root causes are hal.dll + 997f and ntkrnlpa.exe + f5b28. So far, I've had 14 accidents. I run the driver verifier and the causes are hal.dll + 726c and ntkrnlpa.exe + 2ea5a7 windrvr6.sys + 0. Any help is appreciated! Thank you.
    Hello
    References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.
    Updated drivers, BIOS and software control (if any) is a good idea.
    This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:
    For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
    Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
    your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
    Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
    Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.
    Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
    with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.
    Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
    Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
    BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)
    Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - reset after each
    installation.
    Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
    presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
    in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.
    Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW on device at the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER - manually check by model.
    Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
    How to install a device driver in Vista Device Manager
    If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver in the Windows updates,
    This leaves ONE of Windows updates, but it will not install the drivers who are generally older and cause
    questions. If updates offers a new driver and then hide it (right click on it) and then go look for new ones
    manually if you wish.
  • Satellite Pro A300 - System32\hal.dll file is corrupted or missing
    I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300, which says that the System32\hal.dll file is missing or corrupt.
    Is it possible to repair the file by a recovery by the laptop itself, or do I have to get a copy of Windows Vista to start over and do it this way?
    Hoping to get some possible answers to what to do.
    Hello
    I read that some discussions in different forums and in most cases the new OS installation may solve this problem. The HAL.dll in place in C:\Windows\system32 then maybe you could solve this problem in copy this file from the Vista CD in this folder
    You could start the unit by using a Live CD (linux or windows lice CD called PartBe or WinPE)
    But the easiest solution would be to the recovery procedure
  • Root Windows satellite 5200 701 system32/hal.dll missing
    My Toshiba s5200 701 crashed today.
    Windows displays this error:
    + windows didn't start because the following file is missing or corrupt: windows root system32 / hal.dll +.
    + Please re install. +
    First of all, this Toshiba is a European model and I live in the USA.
    Second, the model is old.
    Third, I don't have the XP CD reinstal the OS.
    I don't know if it's worth buying a new professional XP for this computer.
    All ideas, suggestions. Please notify.
    Hello
    I read on issues such as
    You need to reinstall the OS, but it would also be possible that this error is related to the defective HARD and/or RAM disk.
    Many uses had this error again after the new installation of the OS and in individual cases the RAM or the HARD drive has been affected as well.
    What to say; It s your decision what you want to do... I recommend reinstall Win XP once more to verify if this question relates only to lack hal.dll in the system32 folder.
    However the Win XP license is cheap, because Win 7 is on the market and no one wants to use 'old' OS which will be more in the coming years...
  • Error Hal.dll not found or currupted
    Hello
    Just, I restarted my laptop and was greeted with this message. Then I tried to re - install windows xp family and the same error.
    I don't have my cd of XP Home so I used my version of the Home Office. Does this matter at all or what could be the problem.
    Help, please
    Joe
    If you get an error about a missing or corrupt hal.dll file, it could simply be the BOOT. INI file in the root of the C: drive that is misconfigured
    Insert and boot from your Windows XP CD.
    At the first R = repair option, press the R key
    Press the number that corresponds to the correct location of the Windows installation you want to repair. In general, this will be #1
    Type bootcfg/list to display these entries in the TRUNK. INI file
    Type bootcfg /rebuild to fix
    Exit at the exit of the CD ROM and type
  • error Hal.dll corrupt on startup
    Hello.
    I recently had a bad crisis of spywere problems. After Norton anti-spywere tryign, I have the following problem;
    On startup, I get the toshibas start screen, then the error message:
    Windows cannot find the file: hal.dll
    It may be damaged. Please re - install file
    I have the solution to this (on the support site microsoft technical) but (a R 10-101) laptop has no floppy drive, and I have no installation disc, so I can't get a recovery console to fix things.
    Is it possible to get an installation disk without having to buy another copy of windows, or is it possible to get a CDrom as oppose to a boot disk?
    Thank you
    Hello
    HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) is a layer of operating system programming that allows the operating system to work with a hardware device.
    The missing or not found error message hal.dll, \windows\system32\hal.dll or \winnt\system32\hal.dll may be experienced on a Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP system when the boot.ini file is damaged, or when a user attempts to dual boot a computer.
    The best way to solve the problem is to recover the OS because the boot.ini file will be new created.
    But you can also see these sites how to solve the problem.
  • Windows XP does not start because < root Windows > \system32\hal.dll file is corrupted
    I get the following error message when starting my windows XP Home PC. : Windows didn't start because the following file is missing or damaged
    \System32\hal.dll. Please reinstall a copy of the file. How do I do that?
    This could be the result of a corrupt / missing hal.dll file or boot.ini file. You have your windows disc? If so, follow the instructions below. If you do not have your windows disk click HERE to create a disc of windows recovery console.
    1. Use the Windows XP CD to start your computer.
    2. When you receive the message to press R to repair Windows by using the Recovery Console, press the R key.
    3. Select the Windows installation that you want, and then type the administrator password when you are prompted.
    4. Type bootcfg/Rebuild, and then press ENTER.
    5. When the Windows installation is located, the following instructions are displayed:
      Add installation to boot list? (Yes/no/all)
      [Type Y in response to this message.]
      Enter load identifier:
      [This is the name of the operating system. Type Windows XP Professional or Windows XP Home Edition].
      Enter operating system load options:
      Leave this field blank, and then press ENTER.
      After completing the previous steps, restart the computer, and then select the first item in the start menu. This should allow Windows XP to start normally.
      After Windows XP is successfully loaded, the Boot.ini file can be modified to remove the incorrect entry.
    Fortunately, not all is lost here for you. You have several options. You will need to create a CD of the utility. (1), you can boot from a usb flash drive and run utility Cd or 2) you can buy a removable usb device cd rom and there. It's the best option, but instructions differ radically, so I need to know which is your choice of boot options to help you. You won't have a windows disk to perform the procedure.
