Book recommendation 2009

I'm looking for a good beginner/intermediate text for LV 2009 book (to be used as a classroom text) and I found two that seem very similar, but with different costs:

Personal recommendations from someone?

LabVIEW student 2009 Edition

I'm learning with LabVIEW 2009

The two books are signed by the same author (OR Inc.) with the same date of publication (Dec. 2009), and both have 752 pages (according to Amazon), but contrary to what you might expect costs LVSE $35 more than the version of L/w LV.

I'd rather not both, just to buy.

Any ideas?

(ps: all the other texts to be LV8.x serm)

Phil.

Third edition of "LabVIEW for all the world the graphical programming made easy and fun" by Jeffrey Travis and Jim Kring.

Casual, I think that the only difference in 2009 LV not under no this book no are advanced questions. My bosses use this text to teach LabVIEW to Carnegie Mellon.

  • Learning ESXi - tutorials & book recommendations

    Hello

I'm a developer .NET/Architect, but I will be responsible for setting up and maintaining a server ESXi on a small account.  I was always interested to know more about vmWARE, so it's really an opportunity for me to expand my knowledge.

Is there a good tutorials step by step on installing and setting up a server for beginners?

You can always start with the documentation on the VMware website, there is a lot of information on how to install, configure already there.

In another hand, you can take a look at this book... It was recommended, and seem to be fairly complete.

  • vSphere 4 book recommendation

Can anyone recommend a book for vSphere 4 similar to VMware ESX Server: Advanced Guide by Ron Oglesby.

If you want a book to learn the product - either of the 2 mentioned in the answers above it.

If you want a book to prepare the VCP - I wouldn't buy one. The issues of secure Channel are specific that in many cases that the books will not go into the level of detail - required and inaccuracies in the books will lead you to the selection of wrong answers to the exam. I would recommend studying for the VCP from the documents. Check out my blog (link below) for more information VCP4, or search for blog of Simon Long for his study notes and practice exams.

  • Book recommendation color management?

    Hi people,

I'm using Photoshop since version 2, but only as a violinist could relax with a bit of playing the keyboard.  My main concert over the years has been the multimedia programming and 3D animation, both for delivery to the screen in the world wonderfully sane of RGB color.

Now, I turn to print in a big way and print hard at that.  I need to create a book cover for a print job on request a Lightning Source.  The image has a lot of contrast and LS imposes a limit of ink coverage either - as - 240% in CMYK mode, which means that I'll have to massage the dark areas of the image without destroying the tones of the beautiful color of the paint on the front cover.

Color management is therefore suddenly critical mission, and I would stick my head in the theory in a serious way.  If someone of you print jockeys could recommend a source on the subject, I would be grateful.  I know that Adobe Community Help videos and references in the article, and I will browse them willingly.  But what I'm looking for is a final text theoretical bases - something like an O'Reilly book on the color management for print media that I can sit and read with a blanket.

    Thank you very much

On your 'pact with the devil '.

It's my way of thinking that because you are going to use a printer, you will eventually use the devil to ensure real print function.

The old expression, «Better the devil you know...» "really applies in this company.

"Lightning Flash" or whatever these printers called themselves exposed you the the dark side of color management, I suspect that their goal was to escape the guilt should work to the South.

It should be the responsibility of the printers to ensure control of the color instead of dropping their clients into the deep end of the dark side.

So, that's my opinion, expressed earlier, that his research could be better spent finding a press (printing house) which has a good reputation and, above all, does not try to dazzle with tech-speak. You should not have to send on such a ride like you've been on a horse in order to produce reliable and consistent colors. What is the function of the printer and... get:

A lot of printers automatically substitute your settings, despite your best efforts to prepare before your files.

As you have probably noticed, I enjoy a good debate on color management, but I'm afraid that this dialog driven, while fun for me, can be counterproductive to your objectives and your needs. I apologize all noting that you are a 'player' as well... BUT...

Color management IS a debate. That one sentence says a lot.

If you find a printer who said: "We have the game", and gets close enough for you to approve a proof print, your experience will be much more rewarding.

Get the reputation of your company in print and find one with whom you have a relationship, and then see if they can deliver. Then keep this partner.

At the end of the day, you will never be able to calibrate your printer system, and this is the KEY!

Each press has different d - max. Each document (RCM of clay), each monitor each platesetter or imagesetter, each engine conversion, each ink or powder is a variable in the equation. All these variables can be converted to constants with properly calibrated equipment. That cannot be done "in-house".

(You have not access to their tools so why they ask you to cut the wood for them?)

So, it seems that you are on the right path for me. Deal with the devil, indeed!

The traditional name for apprentices since the days of Gutenberg is "printer of the devil."

Greetings from planet K - pxl

Locally, if you want to support on-check... Kinko's in Auburn? Auburn printers?

I mentioned the dome in the bag because I was there when they calibrated their system and I know how wnt knowledge and time in the process.

It is in accordance with ISO. May be expensive.

  • Recommendation of book for beginners

I know the basics of Flash CS4 and would like to expand my knowledge to learn the ActionScript 3. My background is in graphic design (not math, not programming). Can anyone help with a book recommendation that could help me get started with the basics of ActionScript 3?

It is a good book for designers.

If you were a developer, no book would be necessary.  the flash help files do a very good job teaching as3.
