boot disk error

When I put on the computer all I get is a black screen with the message

error: no boot disk was detected or the drive failed.

I have various recovery programs check the structure of hard disk and help them recover wanted programs but none are off any use because I can't run them. Any ideas or is this the end of my hard drive?

I have an Acer XC-100.

Hi e661e

Yes, it sounds like your hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced.

It's a long shot, but you can open your PC and check that the SATA or power cable has not become loose, but it is likely that the drive is dead!

    Hello

    ·        Remember to make changes to the system?

It may be that your hard drive is damaged, I suggest to run chkdisk\r and check if you are able to boot to the desktop. To do this, you must boot into the recovery console, and then run the command.

    a. Boot into the recovery console. Check the steps that are mentioned in the link given below.

Description of the Windows XP Recovery Console for advanced users

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314058

    (b) to fix the errors, look for bad sectors and recover readable information, at the command prompt, typechkdsk volume: /r, and then press ENTER.

I suggest you return the item mentioned below.

When you restart your computer or upgrade to Windows XP, you receive the error message "STOP 0x000000ED UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME".

  • MacBook Air wouldn't startup after starting get disk error

I was getting full boot disk error on my Macbook Air 2012 model a few times, and then it stopped starting (folder flashing with question mark began to appear). I followed the instructions on this site If flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac - Apple Support

but failed to copy data from the drive on an external hard disk. I could see my boot (MacintoshHD) on the disc utilities drive, but could the volume seems to be not mounted.  The size of the disk is 128 GB and only 12 MB seems to be free.

1 has started the macbook in recovery mode. In disk utility, run check disk and repair utilities disk for the startup disk (MacintoshHD). No problems in the generated logs. The volume is not mounted and is dimmed.

2 selected MacintoshHD and tried to unlock it. The system tried for a while, and the password window disappeared after some time with the MacintoshHD via disk utility.  When I restart the machine again in recovery, disk MacintoshHD reappears in the same situation.

    3. I was able to start the macbook after installing a new version of OS X in an external hard drive. During the installation of OS X, I couldn't copy the data from the volume MacintoshHD (possibly the drive is locked).

    4. I could not start my macbook in safe mode.

    My query is-

    1. I had not backed up my data by any means. What are my current options to copy my data MacintoshHD?

    2. because the MacintoshHD is locked and attempts to unlock it had no disk utility, it will help if I start my macbook target disk mode, connect to another mac via a thunderbolt cable and try to copy data?

    3. What are my options now to restore my macbook? Clear my boot drive (MacintoshHD) and reinstall OS X?

    Thank you

  • Problem full boot disk

I was struck with the dreaded full disk boot error message. I have a hard disk of 500 GB solid state. Disk utility, I opened, and he said I had about 44 GB of free space. If this should not be sufficient?

In any case, I deleted my Aperture libraries and disk utility now says I have about 56 GB of free space. So, I went about my business when I suddenly got the message startup disk is full again. I checked the disk utility and discovered that she had changed to 56 GB less than 1 GB.

So I restarted my laptop, and it's the same thing. What is going on?

I have a possible answer: I checked Activity Monitor and discovered that there are some very big 'process' which had to be closed by force.  It is a problem, I thought I had solved a long time ago.

If have several websites that I have developed on my laptop. If I open a web page in a browser, and this web page is linked/included in a missing file, then the page starts blocking memory. The only warning is that my computer started acting sluggish. I then open the activity monitor and usually have to force to close a series of rogue process maybe half a dozen. But which never resulted in a startup disk full message.

I know that a web page of thugs would use additional memory, while a boot disk error seems to indicate a physical lack of SPACE.

Anyway, does anyone have advice? Thank you.

Stop the web server and see if the problem stops.

Looks like your sites consume too much memory. In "physical memory" is exhausted the operating system written unused memory to disk - this is called "paging" or "Exchange on the disk. Obvoiusly which means disk space gets reserved for this "expanded memory". Finally, something must give.

56 GB of free space is OK, unless you have a process that runs somehow out of control like this - something not at all with these sites or scripts. Personally, I prefer a bit more margin to maneuver, but 56 GB should be enough on a healthy system.

You don't need to use disk utility to see the use of disk space. Open a Finder window and simply get the information on your disk (Go Menu > computer lists all storage connected).

Expanded memory must be included in the activity to the 'used Swap' monitor if I remember correctly.

You should not kill the process either - it's a sign that something is wrong and can lead to instability and data loss if they are used by large parts of the operating system.

I think you should work on your test pages why begin to 'blocking of memory', perhaps runaway javascript or something in the real of the server, you could read the logs from the server if they are active to see if something is do a lot of queries etc.

What is the real server and code that you are running?

    Hi Louis,.

I see that the options for the F1 / F10 and F5 do not appear. I do not recommend that you try the AFUDos BIOS disk once. I have researchedthe plug on your motherboard and you are right. The BIOS for motherboards series M2N68 ASUS sitewill not help because they have a different chipset, The ASUS motherboards using chipset from Nvidia 630A instead of the Nvidia 430 chipset on the motherboard Hp used to your motherboard.

Here is a link to the solution to the problem on the motherboard you have. I downloaded HP SoftPaq Download manager to see if I can locate the SoftPaq you need with the original BIOS 513 file. bin. I'll let you know how it goes. If I succeeded, I'll explain how I got the file you can do the same thing. You will need WinRAR to extract the BIOS file, once we find the sucker. The BIOS 514 bin file is the one who caused your problem. You must also Awdflash.exe worm 8.59E. The link located in the forumthat I hyperlinked to above.

    Update:

I found the SoftPaq file appropriate in the HP website. You will need to follow precisely the instructions provided in the first hyperlink above. It's possible!

    Kind regards

I built an emergency recovery boot disk using MAKE PE3 - 48 and P Start to enable the use of portable programs after booting into the recovery environment. I have used with success of Firefox Portable till and including version 28.

All portable versions since then up to the last 35 Version will not start. All display the error could not load XPCOM.

These same portable versions of Firefox, however, will begin in the normal environment of Windows 7 Ultimate on all my computers, however, in the environment of DOING PE 3, on the same device, they will not.

You can ask about it in the support forum for Firefox Portable here:

Firefox Portable is a 3rd party application, not published by Mozilla. I installed it myself for dealing with changes in it and how it differs from the official version of Mozilla, but don't know enough about it or something DO PE 48 to be able to help you.

  • 23 - k027c: ERROR: no boot disk was detected or drive failed

    Hello!

    My computer

HP Envy tilt 23-k027c TouchSmart all-in-One desktop PC (energy star)

These latest OS Windows 10 (update of Windows 8, which was preinstalled on the computer at the time of the purchase in December 2013)

    Intel (r) Core (TM) 15-457OT CPU @ 2.90 GHz

    Processor speed 2900 MHz

A few days ago it started showing blue screens of death with a PAGE_FAULT_in_NONPAGED_AREA note all other hours, or sometimes 3 times per hour.

I went through all the troubleshooting process, finished with a bluescreen debugging possible analysis demonstrating that the ntoscrnl.exe driver might cause the blue screen issue.  And on the morning of the next day my computer greated me with a black screen with an ERROR: no boot disk was detected or drive failed.

I can still get into the BIOS by pressing ESC at the present time of HP sign appear early attempts to restart.

BIOS indicates that the hard disk is detected (yay!), so it is not the source of the problem.

Memory and disk test went well passed, PASSED tests successfully.

Pushing ' restore the original and exit "in the bios does not help.

Nothing else works. Only these two ESC and F10 keys.

How can I fix the system?

I don't have a HP with PC Restore disc when I bought it. Site Web of HP didn't kits of restoration for the moment.

    What to do?

    SOS help, please!

It is the computer that I use for work and personal use. There are gigabytes of photos of my family, as well, who desperately, I don't want to lose...

I'll be super thankful for all reasonable advice and direct instructions!

The ' ERROR: no boot disk was detected or drive failed. "  May be a simple solution to redo the botmanager file.  This normally requires a bootable DVD with the repair function or a USD bootable with windows and repair function.  Windows 10 is installed, this would be my choice getting either the drive or the USB key.  HERE IS THE MEDIA tool of M$.  Make the work of another PC, DVD or USB and then - on PC - start problem that media and choose repair when loading of the POPup screen.  DO NOT install.  If you install it, it will eliminate your data.

BTW: 10 Windows is installed, the HP recovery disk will return the PC to Windows 8.

Is my hard drive on its way? Is there a possible difficulty for this seizure completely breaks down?  Information to help save my machine would be great and much appreciated.  Thank you!

P.S. I ran a diagnostic and all past test except the bootable disc.  But for some reason when I restart a little more time it get passed my system and begins running.

Note: I created recovery discs and I backed up all my files.

    Hello:

In my view, there is nothing you can do to repair the drive except to replace it.

You can run the checkdisk utility and check both boxes.

Please see the link below for more information.

  • Recovery Aspire V5 - no boot device error disk error

I tried to recover my Acer Aspire V5 by using the recovery disk I paid only $44.95 for.  When I got to the point where he is said to remove the recovery disc, then press ok to continue, I thought I was in the HomeStretch.  But instead, I got a "no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key error."  Can not know what to do.  I have no other disk for this computer.  Thought that this disc receovery was supposed to be a one-stop solution to restore my computer to its state when I bought it.  Any help much appreciated.

How can I fiw it without any sort of disk recovery or boot disk etc... I know I could probably go buy some sort of recovery software, but can't afford it right now. Can someone help me, please?

You have all the Norton/Symantec products installed and if so, do you know which ones and versions?

You start with a chkdsk/r from the XP Recovery Console.

    Here's how:

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that may have come to a store to purchase the system.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

I took my PC to the Geek Squad at my local Best Buy store and it turns out that Windows was just corrupted. All you have to do is to do a full restore using recovery discs. For more information about your model, I would just search on the internet.
