Boot failure: System

When I tried to start my Dell desktop w/XP Pro SP3 after you sleep last night, he got this message: failed to start: System stopped.

I installed a Windows update about 2 days ago, but it started fine yesterday. What should I do to fix this? Bring it to the Geek Squad? Put in the system restore disc?

The options that are available to you depends on what drives you and if the discs offer other solutions in a destructive way to reinstall the operating system.

Most new computers today do not come with the operating system disks, but you can get when you buy a computer custom made at a small supplier. With laptops and desktops you need to create the disks recommended and store safely before you start playing mass produced.

Before attempting to repair the startup, you need to recover important data to protect against their loss files. This can be done by using a second computer and either by placing the drive in a cradle of external drive or by inserting the disc into a location of spare in the second computer. Anyway you can frequently read and copy files to a new location on the scecond computer or removable storage.

If you need help by all means to take the computer to a small computer repairman, but please stay away from the Geek Squad.

    You can view these methods:

    Method 1: As a first step, check to see if the hard disk becomes detected or listed in the Basic Input/Output system (BIOS). Also, be sure to change the boot order in the CMOS settings so that thehard drive is the first on the list.

    Method 2: If the manufacturer has installed the Recovery Console on your computer, perform the check disk to fix this.

    At the recovery console command line, type:

    If your computer has just been formatted, your computer might need to insert the boot CD in order to run it. So you can get the error message Disk Boot Failure-press and insert disk entry displayed on the screen whenever you try to run it. This could be related to:
    • Startup options is incorrectly set in BIOS Basic Input Output System ().
    • A non bootable CD is in your CD player
    • You don't have any boot device
    • You have installed a new hard drive
    • The hard drive is not properly connected
    • Your system files have been infected

    My computer froze and crashed, then went to a black screen saying Disk Boot failure Insert System Disk. When I go to start my computer it goes either directly on the screen or it starts and runs fine for about 10 minutes and goes back to a black screen, repeat the disk boot failure.

    It is usually a very strong indication that your hard drive is dying. I hope you did the recovery disk set that will be required to reinstall your Windows and your software to a new hard drive.

    One thing you might try is first to enter the BIOS to turn on by pressing the F10 key. Once in the BIOS, press F5 to reset the default settings then F10 to save and exit.

    So I have this Acer Aspire AX3200-U3600A with Windows Vista (64-bit). Every night I turn it off and turn it back on in the morning.

    About three weeks ago, I did a factory fresh reimage. Good as new.

    Then about two days ago, when I turned it on, I noticed it was running extremely slow. As in, he would often freeze while I had several applications open when it froze usually never upward. So I decided to restart my computer. Big mistake.

    My computer froze right after that I clicked on stop. I waited some time. Nothing. Waited a few minutes. Nope. I decided to stop it by pressing the power button. Here is where the problems begin.

    Vista boot failure:
    When you start there 3 beeps (long, short), and nothing, the screen remains black, empty.  With Windows Vista Ultimate install the disk in the DVD player, nothing else.

    Pre-existed freezups usb input, but only after connection, so used safe mode system restore and went back to an earlier version, which worked for a short while before the same problem reappeared.  Tried to reboot with the installation of the system disk, it almost worked, in vain.  Now I'm in the first situation described.  All hope?

  • Boot failure?

    I have a boot failure problem. Everything I tried didn't do anything. When I try to start up, I get a message saying a problem has been detected and I should run the Startup Repair for this problem. I did and found a problem with startup repair but it not able to determine what it was and, of course, could not fix. Well, it has been suggested that I have run CHKDSK in Cmd prompt. He said that my system has been implemented as an NTFS partition and so write Protected(don't know how to get around that). I think that may be what prevents "Startup Repair" to identify the real problem, I don't know. I also tried the system restore, but it keeps doing and saying the same thing.

    I bought this laptop used a few years ago and had no problems. It just happened suddenly 2 days ago. No new hardware or software. The seller did not have the disk of windows so that can't help. But I've read a few people who have the same problem, no answers or solutions for the fix.

    Any help would be great.

    Method 1

    When you use the recovery (Windows RE) environment to resolve startup problems, first try the Startup Repair option in the System Recovery Options dialog box. If this does not resolve the problem, or if you have additional problems manually, use the Bootrec.exe tool.

    Because you cannot start the computer, you may need to create a bootable Windows installation media, and then do an auto repair, and if this does not help then you try to restore your computer to the previous date.
