boot from dvd with wireless keyboard

I have an imac under snowleopard. I connected an external hard drive via USB with the intention to back up my data.  I had already used the same external drive to back on my PC.  I laoded ext drive drivers on mac and tried to use time machine to create a backup but time machine could not see the ext drive although Finder could.  I assumed it was because he was previously used on PC and so wrong format so I uninstalled the drivers and has restarted as requested.  When it restarts it says that it cannot find the boot device and asks me to insert the startup disk.  I dig my original CD and put it in the slot and then restart holding down the c key.  But he doesn't know that and come back with the same message.  Only a wireless keyboard so I guess that early start, it started communication upward with keyboard and therefore does not see 'C' being pressed.

I don't know why he can't see the HDD IMAC to start from but any ideas what to try next.  I have a PC keyboard in the loft soemwhere but that does not work?

Try to hold down the option key.  At some point the screen should show you the different boot options.  I can't say for sure, but I would say you should at least see your drive hard and DVD.

Unplug all your devices.  I still see that advice, too.

Good luck

  • Boot from SAN with 4 HBAs

    Hello

What are the guildlines for boot from SAN with 4 fibre HBA.
Our HP Blades originally had 2 available Qlogic host bus adapters.  I have always chosen a boot on both device and the servers never had a problem starting.  Recently we add a second back-end connectivity map and associates of mezzanine on the HP to allow everything.  On the SAN and blade we show 4 HBAs.  Now when booting of servers, we have stuck in the bootloader GRUB.  This has happened on a server that has already been built and when we reinstalled.  What are the guidelines for booting from the San with multiple HBAs.  We use ESX 4.1.

    Hello

The general rule is that boot from SAN works on HBA cards in the lowest PCI slot.

I don't know what rules HP uses to translate slots PCI mezzanine cards.

  • Portege Z830 - can't boot from DVD

I have a Portege Z830-11F. I upgraded my machine to Windows 8 and but I didn't like it. So I decided to do a clean install of Windows 7.

I downloaded the file .iso on the internet and it was engraved on a DVD.
I plugged in my external DVD drive, rebooted, entered in the BIOS and changed the boot order and restarted again.

Everything went well and I was able to install Windows 7.
But I didn't have the drivers, (thought the BONE would recognise the driver LAN at least, I was wrong)
So I've upgraded to Windows 8 again (without restarting) just to download the drivers for Windows 7.

I did, but now I can't boot from the DVD.
When I enter the boot order section, sometimes the DVD is listed, sometimes not.

In both cases, the machine starts with Windows 8 straightly, does not allow me to boot from the DVD.
The strange thing is that I was able to start on the same DVD in the first place.

What can I do to start from the DVD?

At first, I must say that I n t understand why you didn't create recovery media before you changed something. Using preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator you can create USB recovery and the whole situation would be not so complicated. This recovery image is activated but now if you install own OS version you will not be able to use the product key you got with your laptop.

Anyway, now proceed to a complete stop Win8 and after having this beginning for laptop and use F12 to get into the boot menu. Of course your external DVD must be connected before starting your laptop. It may be that external drive is allowed on the like on my U940 USB boot option.

  • Qosmio F30-140 - can't boot from DVD player

    Dear,

I faced the problem of DVD player, I can't boot from it... in fact, he didn't see and CD or DVD when I insert it...
So how can start from reinstalling windows? Or how can I use external USB DVD to boot from it?

    I F30 - 140, with BIOS updated...

    Please help neeeeeeed...

    Hello

It seems that the CD/DVD drive has developed a hardware problem.
Normally you should be able to boor to ODD in pressing the C key immediately after the laptop has been powered.
Alternatively, you can press F12 at the beginning. This would allow the start on-screen menu.
Here you can choose ODD as a source of start-up

If this will not work, then the STRANGE might be vice.

PS: I doubt that the BIOS supports CD/DVD USB drive startup...

I'm trying to start Fedora 20.1 leave a DVD that contains an ISO image of Fedora 2.01. • Can't boot from DVD or CD

    Hi all...  I have a W700, Type: 2758.

I have my formatted disks and I want to reinstall the o/s.  When I turn on the machine with a disc, the message I get is "Device not found" or "No valid operating system".

    1. my boot order has "ATAPI CD0: model HL - DT - STDVDRAM GT33n-(TS)" as the FIRST device.  This unit has "No valid operating system" written next to it.

    2. I have two drives, that I am trying to boot from.  The first is a Windows 7 boot disk and then the BIOS CD that I got on the Lenovo site.  My results are the same regardless of which disc is in the DVD player.

    3. I swapped DVD drive with a co-worker to ensure that it works correctly.  The DVD player works in fact.

    4. I checked the two disks on my other PC and I have no problem to read.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

Never mind... I got a hold of a DVD USB, taaa daaaa, it sees the drive instantly.

While I am still completely confused on why I can't boot from the built-in DVD, I at least can I install the o/s now.  (Again, I've even changed embedded... DVD)

    Well...

    Have a great day everyone...

  • Can't boot from DVD or USB! Windows 8

It then it really starts to bug me! I tried to solve this problem for a few hours now, and this is absolutely not the case! So I want to do a clean install of Windows 8. I did all the steps to get it on a dvd and a bootable USB.  That was the easy part.  At first I tried to boot into DVD, I went to the Bios and the value of the first boot priority CD/DVD. After that and several reboots I get nothing! I went into F12 and it said to start from the hard drive. Good if it does not work. I go to copy the Windows 8 ISO on a USB key. Good in fact, it was easy, I can go into the Bios again and don't see an option for USB FLASH directly, but see other options start USB, such as USB, FLOPPY USB, DVD, AND USB HARD DRIVE. I first select USB DVD, after several reboot nothing! Went to F12 (boot options) and still nothing! Then, I chose USB HARD DRIVE, exactly the same thing! So now I am on my knees and gave up! I ask for help in my community and I hope that you guys can understand this.

I just bought the computer 3 weeks ago its a new Aurora R4. I don't know whether it is a hardware problem, it seems. I tried to boot from the CD/DVD with the re - install OS AlienWare gave me and it read perfectly. So if it fills up it should work right? Then I tried several blank DVDs and even went out and bought some new! Still nothing! Ahhh, sorry it's really bugging me. Something so simple, but I'm so lost.

Thanks for any help from friends!

    Dave, :)

Press f2 to enter setup, disable the option "password at startup" and to record changes... now boot... you're done. Thank you

  • Cannot switch the language layout with wireless keyboard

I do a sort of a media center for my mac mini. So far, everything is great, except for one very annoying thing. I bought this wireless keyboard and it's working great, although there is a problem with the layout language switch. When I change the input language - it is off, according to the change of language icon, if a text input is always in English. I'm quite confused and don't know if it's related to the keyboard itself or it's a question of OS (same behavior was on yosemite, before I've upgraded to el capitan)

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Are you talking about the little flag in the menu bar? This has nothing to do with the language itself, it has to do with keyboard layouts. Any reason you need to switch the layouts?

If you want to change the language of the menus and other system, then you must go to

System-> region and language preferences, then change the order of the languages.

  • Want to 700-230: how to access the BIOS on machine with wireless keyboard and no keyboard on the PC port

    Hi all

I have a HP Envy 700-230 which has a wireless keyboard

How am I supposed to access the BIOS that the keyboard drivers are not loaded until after the machine and there is no normal keyboard connects on this PC for a wired keyboard

With this kind of computor how am supposed to access the BIOS

Obviously to start the reports a keyboard error and suggest I press ESC to access the BIOS that I can't because at startup, there is no current keyboard.

Thanks for any help on this.

    Jeanette

While not a definitive answer, but try a wired USB keyboard instead wireless.  There may be a setting in the BIOS to change the way the keyboard interacts at the start but, of course, you need to enter the BIOS.  Looking at the other comments on this issue, if you happen to have a keyboard PS/2 and a PS/2 to USB adapter, then this seems to be a better choice.  Plug the PS/2 on the PS/2 keyboard to USB adapter and then try that at startup to access the BIOS.  Then, find the setting to allow the keyboard to be recognized at startup.  Another solution is to move the USB port, the wireless keyboard use.  If the rear ports, move forward, if forward move backward.

Let me know if one of these help.
