boots after system restore
Hi all
In the last three days, I start up the pc and the screen just freezes and stays black.
Restart the pc and it starts the Startup Repair process... works very well and creates a system restore and then runs.
Any ideas as to why he done this in the first place?
See you soon
Matt
Hello
At times, Startup Repair will work successfully for a vista disk if it is not in recovery.
I suggest to try from the disk and follow the link and check.

Impossible to uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection after system restore
Hello
a program has been uninstalled (Symantec Endpoint Protection)
After have rebooted and still have problems to install a newer version, I decided to do a system
Restore prematurely, I uninstalled the original version.
(Since I couldn't find the installation files or my license info)The old version worked again. Now I am able to start the
new version, the old version will not uninstall. It just sits there in a small box with a bar saying Windows of progression
in the configuration of Symantec Endpoint Protection and it remains as it
for as long as I left, at least 25 minutes.I thought that the system restore would put things back exactly as they
have been, but it's apparently not the case.OT: Impossible to uninstall after system restore
Any ideas on that?
The OS is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit 64-bit.
I found this, but have not yet tried.
http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall/en-usI was able to cirumvent the problem by a selective startup in Msconfig.
I disabled all startup items, all services not MS, restarted and then uninstalled
successfully. However, I met another strange problem.
After uninstalling old version, I rebooted (the system was still selective
startp) I put a new restore point and installed the new version successfully.
Later, realizing msconfig has been arrived at "selective", I went and
has tried to return to Normal startup. However, when you select normal
and hit 'apply', it immediately jumps to selective. I have never seen it before.
I didn't know how to solve.
Instead, I uninstalled the new version of the AV program, jumped to the restore point
I did before I installed, rebooted, open Msconfig and have been correctly set up
In normal mode. Then reinstalled the AV.
Everything is OK now.
You ever heard of this problem of msconfig before?

Cannot run some programs after system restore to remove the virus
Hello
Toshiba my duaghter had a nasty virus that pretends to be an antivirus software product, which sneaked in, between the time his default service Norton has expired and I had the time to install Trend.
Can not remove it using trend, so on the advice of a friend, decided to make a windows system restore to a point before the infection. It worked successfully and the virus has disappeared, but now she can't run some programs, I tried to reinstall Trend, but fails because he says you must first uninstall Norton. But I can't run Norton, or uninstall, and certain folders on C: are no longer accessible.
I have to do a full restore of the Toshiba System (IE back tofactory settings? This seems a drastic measure, but the issue is beyond my meager knowledge of PC.
Thank you
Graeme
Hey Buddy,
Hmm... This announcement is a bit confusing... Maybe the programs you want to say were installed after the system restore point, who knows?
In my opinion you must reset the laptop configuration that you have already written. This will restore the pre-installed Windows version where everything is working correctly and that all the drivers and tools are installed.
Therefore, you only need the Toshiba Recovery disk and boot from it. This will restore the factory settings.
Check this box!

Windows Vista - what should I do after system restored?
My home edition vista recently will not start. After I turned it on, it loads for a while and stops automatically. I tried pressing some buttons for example F2, F8, F10 function for repair and recovery, and it is able to load the previously saved startup page. After that I turned it off, it cannot start again. I tried twice on the recovery of reparation and restored successfully, but now the repair and recovery seems no longer works.
(1) what should I do if I managed to open the start page?
(2) what could be the cause of it? In any case to restore so that it will work like new?

Manufacturers recovery disks normally do not have Service Options; they are normally a relocation to the factory only settings option.
Here is the guide to repair Options using a Vista DVD from Microsoft.
If a friend or a work acquantance of yours has one, you can borrow and use it for repairs.

Reinstall options.
You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.
They should do this for a small fee.
To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:
You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.
Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.
And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

If the system still boot and CD/DVD Burns just put in a DVD-R (write once) or DVD - RW (burn
several times)-it will encourage - when its ready use Windows Explorer to drag and drop files (and
their content) on the DVD. When you're ready, click BURN. I would like to make a couple of each DVD for
Security with redundancy. These will not be encrypted and you can access the files out of them or
subsequently copy on a hard drive.Basically, make sure you know what you want to copy the files and put them in a blank DVD to write.

critical error after system restore and windows updates
I cleaned up my old computer and did a system restore. Subsequently, I have install windows to perform automatic updates. The computer detected 37 windows updates and install them. After a successful windows install update, the computer said I had to reboot so I did. Now the computer tries to start but then comes a blue screen with a bunch of text and then said: critical error. I tried to do a system restore, and when I get to the part, he begins to restore and gets to 13% and then says critical error and I have tried to try again, but nothing happens. Stuck... Please advise.
If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a repair system restore / boot:
Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html
Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.

It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.

Hello
Before that I brought my computer - not that I tap on now - in a shop three weeks back, I did a system restore to this subject with two Windows 8 recovery disks. While the computer was that I heard bad things about the shop of my neighbours, which course is the repairman recovered data on his computer and put a virus on his desk. In any case, I'll be back the computer tonight and even if I did the factory restore before you import it in, I did another one with the same two tonight recovery disks. After the installation is complete, I decided to turn the computer off and continue the download of applications, etc., tomorrow, but it would not turn off:
Instead, I got the following message and wonder what it means, especially if the same computer repairer could put a virus on my desk as he did my neighbor.
He said that he could not close because it detected EXCEPTION UNKNOWN SOFTWARE and he gave the number according to 0xe0434352 saying that it occurred in the location 0x170389cc
Anyone know what these numbers mean? I now do another reset of my computer, but this time of the computer itself, not the recovery disks.
How can I find out, once again, if a virus has been on the registry office, etc., while the computer is out of my care?
Thank you
Thanks for the information. I did another restore of factory and the machine booted correctly without these messages; However, I can make the safe mode boot / clean anyway. Never understood why go in safe mode allows, but will try.
Thank you

File missing after system restore
Dear Sir.
Today, on a tecra M2, I did a system restore, but suddenly, the message came that I had to re - install the following file: \system32\ntoskrnl.exe: How can I do this: put in the recovery cd or just make a formatting the drive with the restore cd?
Thanks in advance
drweekxHello
System Restore is a very useful tool, but it is not the miracle solution! :-)
Your "ntoskrnl.exe" file seems to be corrupted and this file is very important as you BONE!
You can try to start Notepad, and then press the key "F8". This will take you to a menu and you can choose the 'last known good configuration"and the VGA Mode.If you are lucky your laptop work after that, otherwise you can only recover the portable whole! But if you have important data on the NB you safe to an external drive!

Satellite A500-1CO - loss of data after system restore
Hi all, because the system was slow I decided to restore the system using the DVD of restoration system (1,2). The problem is that I have not saved anything from drive D, and after the restore, all files have been deleted. My logic was unaware that the restoration apply to drive C (system disk) and let the D drive as it is, but I was so wrong.
Is there a way to recover all or part of the lost data?
Please help me. Thank you.
Hi mate
Unfortunately, I think that there is not much to do now.
Recovery DVD redefines the laptop to factory settings and, therefore, this disc format the whole HARD disk and also all the partitions and, therefore, you will lose all data if you n t backup this before starting this procedure. You should read the user manual or information before starting the recovery. :(

DV6 - 6153cl drivers for biometric devices missing after system restore
Hello
I have a HP Pavilion dv6 - 6153cl Entertainment PC with Windows 7. I used the fingerprint reader, since I have my laptop. The scanner has stopped working.
Background: two weeks ago, I downloaded the latest version of Norton 360 (Version 21.1.1.7), which caused my laptop to keep crashing every few hours. After much time consulting technical support, I did a system restore to a few days before the new version download then downloaded the version of Norton 360 and active. This solves the problem of crash.
Problem: After restoring the system, my fingerprint reader no longer works. By control panel > all Control Panel items > biometric devices, "Windows do not have the biometric devices on this computer. You will need to attach your device or install device drivers. "Can someone tell me what are the correct drivers that I need and where to find them?
Thanks for your help!
Hello
First of all, download and reinstall the driver Validity Sensor on the following link.
http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp55001-55500/sp55109.exe
Once completed, restart the laptop.
If it still not works, you may also need to reinstall HP SimplePass on the link below.

Yet, when it has installed, restart the laptop.

Update and Service Pack installation after system restore
Hello
I am a Customer Service representative your question for Windows XP. Here's the issue: System Restore will be restoring all the Service Packs and updates installed Windows XP on a Windows XP computer or at - it need to reinstall everything after the system restore?
Please enlighten us on this issue.
Thank you.
a factory restore is not identical to a windows system restore.
While a restore of windows re - interrupts the previous versions of the system and program files
a factory restore is the original state of the computer at the same time that he has left the factory.
so a factory restore will wipe the hard drive and then re-install all software provided with the computer original.
to this end, if a faulty the system restore windows to make the system functional again, then the restoration of the factory is the ultimate option to make the system work again.
the only way to solve a software problem is sometimes with the method above. However, the method above can not solve the problem below.
in return is that a windows system restore or a factory restore can overcome problems related to defective hardware.
in any case, keep in mind that, before executing a factory restore, the user must copy their personal files and email boxes and internet Favorites before performing this procedure.

Recently I did a system restore, after that my computer has crashed and everything seems to be OK except for the lack of noise coming from my speakers. This isn't an uncommon problem because I found a bunch of stuff on Google, but nothing I tried worked for me and I'm frustrated. I tried to uninstall the device from Device Manager, but even if I have it and restart the computer, he manages to resettle in any case, and yet I still have no sound. Everything seems OK despite these problems. I tried to download the latest drivers and their installation without success. Update the drivers does not work either. So, I wonder if someone can help, and if you manage to get through this, I'll save a song as a tribute for you 30 seconds. Yes I know. I'm quite desperate.

Hi ThomasCline,
Try to boot your pc in safe mode to see if it works properly. http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222
If everything works properly in safe mode, you need to configure your pc in clean boot mode. http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353
If all above fails, try running the SFC, you are able to open the Task Manager, click application-> new task & Type-> sfc / scannow-> ok
You will also need your cd of windows xp for this repair.
I hope this helps...
