BootScreen shows two installations of windows

Trial and error, try to install windows via Bootcamp 10 in my MacPro 2008 (3,1) caused two windows appear when I press Alt/Option to the start-up of the facilities. None of them works. I El Capistan SSD drive is mounted on a map of Apricorn speed X 2 with another plugged on SSD card, and I have four data disks in my 4 bays.

How can I remove the two Installations of Windows to appear? So far, I have attach each disc EFI of my order from command line "utildisk list" in accordance with this article and removed my reEFInd folders.

  • Two partitions of Windows after the installation of Boot camp?

I have a new Macbook Pro from 2015, with OS X 10.11.3 El Capitan.

I put the iso file of Windows 10 in the download folder and installed using Boot Camp assistant. After formatting the Bootcamp partition in the Windows installation guide and complete the installation, everything seems fine.

    But.

When starting with the alt key to choose between Mac and Windows, I have now two icons Windows as well as Mac icon. A my Windows installed 10 boots, and the other icon starts the installation guide for Windows. Why is this last icon of Windows and the option to start the installation of Windows always there?

    Hi there Jer2015,

Looks like you see an additional drive when you hold down option and start your computer, which will begin installing Windows again when selected. That sounds to me like you have the USB plugged with ISO on installation files. All you need to do is unplug it from the computer and it should no longer be an option.

I wanted to reinstall windows xp. but there was something wrong so I couldn't start windows from cd! Although I made any sense, anyway I did it another way by installing windows on D: drive, so I can format C; drive and then installing windows on the C: drive and D: drive format.
everything is ok but when I start my Windows I have a black screen asking me to choose between two operating systems (I have only one operating system), and I formated D: drive once again, but still have this screen.
    WHAT SHOULD DO?

How many hard drives you have 1 or 2? If 1 and its partitioned. Go to run type msconfig. Go to the boot.ini tab, click on check all boot paths. See what's happening. You may need to modify the boot.ini file to remove the XP you want

Press windows + break keyboard / advanced startup and recovery / top the edit button. Copy and paste whats here here

Or if you want to start. If the two XP is on the same hard drive / on different partitions. Delete both partitions, (in the XP installation program), and then create another partition, if you wish. Then reinstall XP on one of them only

  • Installation of Windows 7 spans two completely separte not partitioned hard disk. How moving to a disk?

I have two separate completely from the hard drive. It is 288 GB and the other news is 1 TB.  When I installed Windows 7 Ultimate, for some reason any, it has partially installed on both drives at the same time.  I tried to reformat the hard drive of 288 GB, but can only a part of the Windows installation on this disk! How can question, I put it completely on a hard drive in Windows 7?  I know what is happening, because when I unplug a hdd, leaving a connected, it does not start upward because he needs a startup disc.  Other, similarly, said that the part of the windows installation is not available because there was a change of hard disk.  So, how I move everything that is on one of the disks to consolidate in the first hard drive?

I unplug the 1 TB hard drive, then try to install the disk of 288 GB. Then you can attach the 1 TB of disk after installation.

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

    Hello

During the installation of Windows 7 or 8.1 using a USB stick - get the message "cannot be installed, it is a GPT partition.

I have 64 bit install discs for Win 7 and Win 8.1. These two install on my desktop in duel boot. I made a Flash DRIVE of each disk so I can install it more quickly.

Problem: I get the cannot install because it is a GPT partition.

Y at - there no way to make these 2 USB sticks work?

    Thank you, Brad

Make sure you create your media recovery HP or USB Flash Recovery discs before you edit or change anything.

Your computer does not have Microsoft's Downgrade rights and you must buy a copy of Windows 7 with a valid Microsoft COA and product key.

The screenshots below is from a laptop HP 15 t-j100... options and the configuration on your computer screens may differ.

You will need to DISABLE "Secure Boot" and ENABLE "Legacy Support" in the "Configuration of the BIOS start-up secure" on the settings page similar to what is shown below, until you try to install Windows 7.

After you save the changes, the computer will ask you to confirm the changes... Accept the changes by typing the four digit code and press the ENTER"" key.

If you install Windows 7 from a USB and see a message of "load a driver - a required CD/DVD drive device is missing", it's because as 'System Configuration' > 'Config USB3.0 in pre-start' is set to 'Enabled '. This should be set to 'Auto '.

In addition, as the factory hard drive is partitioned as TPG, you must start using the internal CD/DVD UEFI or UEFI-Key/key USB to install Windows on a GPT-partitioned disk. Turn on or restart the computer and press "F9" or "ESC", then "F9" when prompted. Select the source of boot UEFI you use and you press "ENTER".

I suggest using Windows 7 SP1 for the best installation experience. If the DVD does not start as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (can ask "Quick start" DISABLING in BIOS) as the installation media. Please note that some computers may not recognize a valid active UEFI USB Flash drive if it is formatted in NTFS and may require only a FAT32 formatted USB Flash drive. You should be able to make a FAT32 formatted Windows 7 installation USB Flash drive using Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installeror WiNToBootic. I like Rufus, because it contains options for 'Plan of GPT partition for UEFI computer' and 'FAT32'.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • Installation of Windows 7 on SSD HP drive

We have three HP 8300 Elite SFF machines in our headquarters. All came with Windows 7 pre-installed on the hard drives of 500 GB.

I bought two genuine HP SSD drives (with 120 GB Intel), but cannot install Windows 7 on them because the provided installation HP discs report that the new disks are too small!

I contacted HP about this and told me that the recovery disks only supports hard drives, initially installed on the machine, (i.e. 500 GB) or a larger size. I'd like a 960 GB SSD, but I'm not too keen on the cost!

The obvious solution would be to buy packs of sale at retail of Windows 7, but I hesitate to buy expensive software when I already have a license.

I had thought to resize the partition of HARD drive, less than 120 GB and copy of data across using a disk image but the facility could be optimized for a hard drive instead of the SSD, and it would probably go to default defragmentation!

There is no work around that I could use to install Windows 7 from the restore disks original, I want to get these new discs work?

    Any advice welcome.

    Nigel.

    Please see "how to install Windows 7 without the disc" for instructions how to install a new copy of Windows 7 on your computer by using the key of HP OEM Windows 7 SLP/SLIC of factory (not the 25-digit number on the COA), the activation OEM HP certificate factory and BIOS of the computer. Please see below for step by step instructions;

    (1) download and unzip ABR Beta with Windows 7 Support. This is the homepage of ABR for Windows Vista. Please follow the section "How to use" for information and instructions on how to use it. These steps also apply to Windows 7. Perform the 'activation' backup and save the certificates and keys retrieved in several external locations. The key and the certificate for each computer should be the same. (He gets the certificate of your factory installed OS and HP preinstalled OEM factory original key)

    (2) install Windows 7, after all the guests as needed. Don't let not Windows try to scoped. Run ABR 'restoration of activation' to 'install' the previously saved until the product key and the certificate. Make sure that Windows is activated, repeat "restoration of activation" until Windows 7 is activated. (It "installs" pre-installed HP OEM factory original key and certificate from your factory installed OS to your new installation of Windows. This HP OEM key and certificate are what allows your computer to HP be factory preactivated.)

    (3) install all drivers from the computer. These can be found on the support page HP for your computer, or you can find newer drivers on the various websites of the manufacturers of component... Intel, NVidia, AMD/ATI, Ralink, Realtek, etc..

  • Logical disk partition not recognized in the New Installation of Windows

Hello.  I would appreciate someone to give me any advice.  I don't know if the problem I encounter is an oversight on my part, but it was not something that I anticipated.

To give a bit of background, until last week, I was running a Windows 7 system on my computer which included three hard drives (4 TB, 2 TB, and a smaller disk).  The 4 TB drive included my boot drive with Windows on a partition of 2 TB and then the unallocated space has been transformed into a new partition in disk management, received the drive letter G and was used for long term backup of data.

Since then, I built a new computer and installed a new version of Windows 7 on a small SSD.  During this process, I have not all disks connected to the machine (except the DVD player) so that there is no possibility of installation of Windows, do something for these readers I didn't (I got burned by this time long ago when you reinstall Windows 95, which makes me just feel old).  After the whole installation process was performed and the new version of Windows has been working well, I opened the machine and plugged the drive 4 TB and 2 TB, assuming that Windows did not recognize them when I started.

When I started in Windows, Windows does indeed recognize the two drives and assign drive letters.  But in the case of the car of 4 TB, he acknowledges that the partition containing my old boot drive.  No drive letter is assigned to the secondary partition.  When I go to disk management, it shows all of the remaining spaces as unallocated space, but seems not yet quite recognize space completely in the way he would if I'd created directly.  For example, if I right click in that box, I don't get the normal options to create a new Simple Volume.  Everything on this menu is grayed out except properties and help.

So I guess I have two questions.  (Leaving aside the possibility of a hardware problem), was I wrong to assume that a hard drive divided into two partitions could be transferred from a Windows machine to another?  I honestly thought that no matter where no matter what Windows 7 machine would recognize the two drives, but maybe I'm missing something fundamental.

Two and more important still, there advice for access to the data on this drive?

    Hello

A problem that could happen is that the disk partition has security setting so that the profile of the user that created it would be able to access it, and seeing that you are trying to access from a new profile may not not allow you to access

To access these files, you can try to boot from the old hard drive manually to change the setting of the partition or simply manually move the files and delete the partition.

To start from the old disk hard restart have the hard drive is plugged in, restart the computer and while it is booting F12 key to select the boot device, after that, select the old hard disk and access them normally.

    hope this has helped.

  • New Installation of Windows 10 using Memory Stick

Installed Windows 10 of a download of Microsoft with the iso installed on a memory stick with training camp. After you have created a Bootcamp partition I couldn't install Windows on Bootcamp partition due to an error message 'GPT Partition Style'. Reformatting of the Windows installation screen did not help. The solution came as a surprise. I was start from the windows 'disc' when I should have used the IEF 'drive '. After starting the EFI, reformatting of the Bootcamp partition disk worked and the installation went well, with the exception of the Setup screen was too small to read easily. Fortunately, I was familiar with the installation of the failure of the previous installation screens.

Windows 10 works fine now. The link below is what led me to a solution.

    http://code-zest.blogspot.com/2015/02/Windows-8-install-GPT-partition-style.html

Your MAC supports two installation methods, inherited from the BIOS/MBR (used for XP, Vista, W7) and EFI/GPT (W8 +, W10). The first method requires a hybrid MBR to 'map' the GPT to a MBR-look-alike. EFI/GPT boots are 'native' and faster than the legacy method.

The SATA drivers are part of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
There are a lot of discussions on this subject.

I found these two Toshiba HowTo that describes step by step how to do:
