Branch old updates can be removed from my XP?

Can I remove the old Windows XP & Windows Internet Explorer security updates?

If they do not take too much disk space, I would leave them alone. New updates work sometimes, as well as the old updates to give you a secure system. You know what they say, don't fix what broke.

Some are dated back to 2004 & 2005 that I want to do it safely.

There is no such thing as 'old' updates.

They are there to protect against a vulnerability or to provide updates to the o/s.

The purpose of take away their defeats being there.

If you need more space, you must put in a bigger hard drive.

Or get an external hard drive and put your data on it.

    Gerry C J Cornell - a regular contributor here and I quote:

You can create more free space in C in carrying one of the measures suggested below.

The default allocation for the restoration of the system is 12% on your C partition is more generous.

I have them would be reduced by 700 MB.

Make my computer right click on your icon, and select System Restore.

Place the cursor on your C drive select settings but this time find the slider and drag it to the left until it shows 700 MB and output.

When you get to the settings screen, click on apply and OK and leave.

A flaw that might be useless which is for temporary internet files, especially if you keep no copies on the disk offline.

Setting the default value is 3% of the walk.

Depending on your attitude to copies offline, you could bring it to 1% or 2%.

In Internet Explorer, select Tools, Internet Options, general, temporary Internet files, settings to make the change.

At the same time, look at the number of days, the story stands.

The default allocation for the basket is 10% of the disk. Change to 5%, which should be enough.

In Windows Explorer hover over your Recycle Bin, right click and select Properties, Global and move the slider from 10% to 5%.

However, try to let you become so complete that if it is complete and you delete a file by mistake it will bypass the Recycle Bin and have gone forever.

If your drive is formatted as NTFS another potential gain arises with your operating system on your C drive.

In the Windows directory of your C partition you will some uninstall files in your Windows folder in general: $NtServicePackUninstall$ and $NtUninstallKB282010$ etc.

These files can be compressed or not compressed.

If compressed text the name of the folder appears in blue.

If not compressed you can compress.

Right-click on each folder and select Properties, general, advanced, and check the box before you compress contents to save disk space.

On the general tab, you can see the winning amount by deducting the size on disk size.

File compression is only an option on an NTFS formatted disk partition / partition.

Select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, system information, Tools, Dr. Watson, and make sure the box in front of "Add to the existing rating" is NOT checked.

This means that the next time that the log is written it will crush rather than adding to the existing file.

The setting of maximum size by default for Event Viewer logs is too big.

Reset the maximum value for each log from 512 KB to 128 KB and set it to crush.

Select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, disk cleanup to empty your trash and delete temporary Internet files.

Also select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, disk cleanup, more Options, System Restore and delete all but the last system restore point.

    Run Disk Defragmenter.

  • Where is the peripheral origin obsolete event ID 370 print spooler? Obsolete device can be removed from the operating system?

I get a recording of event ID 370, about once every four days, what about the EPSON Stylus COLOR 460 printer ESC/P 2. I recognize the device as an old device, which is no longer necessary, that I thought was completely uninstalled years ago and I am slightly surprised to see that the tracks still on the computer, or not, as it appears.

It is that I don't know if this record event was caused by a device driver package or the registry keys and values? Is the event ID 370 caused by or for both (device driver package / registry values) being obsolete?

I have the old appliance any longer, so it seems sensible to remove traces of the system and in turn eliminate the causes of event ID 370. However, to find all traces causing the registration of the event? What traces can be removed without problem?

1 today, this device does not show as a device available in display devices and printers to devices and printers.

2, I was unable to see a name similar unused volume in trying to remove the old device (when looking faded icons in the branches of the Device Manager with emphasis on -pilot no Plug and Play, other devices, portable devices, Port (COM & LPT), Printers).

3 reveals regedit there are registry keys and values in the registry that reference naked always at "EPSON" searches for the word. Yes, I have reason to assume that these registry keys and values have caused event ID 370? Is it safe to delete the registry entries, or should the registry key entries to receive new values? (I don't want the deletion of these registry values to cause instability in the print spooler.)

    Event ID 370 Description:
The print spooler could not regenerate printer driver information for driver Epson Stylus COLOR 460 ESC/P 2 for Windows x 64 environment. Win32 system 2114 error code (0 x 842). This can happen after an upgrade of the operating system or due to loss of data on the hard drive.

It seems that traces of information about devices are still present in the registry (invalid entries), which causes the event. Run a registry cleaner will solve this problem, but please visit the following link before continuing:

  • How RSS can be removed from bookmarks? I didn't do it, and it is causing my favorites to not be functional

It seems that this started when I updated to FF 16.0.1 version. I'm afraid to upgrade to version 16.o.2 until I can get this resolved. I'm going crazy trying to figure out how can I add anything. My 'story' is also completely empty as no history is saved. Any help will be appreciated very much.

I'm editing the above 'subject' to take account of the following:

My question as it appears that should reflect that I just noticed that if I want to subscribe to this "feed", I must use the RSS, which I do not know what that is. So if that is not the problem, I do not know what else could be causing it. Apologies for the RSS reference. I do not know what that means.

Another edit: is the subscription 'live bookmark' an RSS feed? I don't know what this icon means to live 'bookmarks '.

    Hello

Most of the software and applications that are preinstalled on your laptop controls a Notepad function.
So if I would be so I let all the tools/software Toshiba on the laptop, but I would like to delete a few 3rd party software, for example:
    -Sony Ericson Media Manager
    -Picassa2
    -My photo book

Of course you can remove other parts, but you shouldn't wonder if some of the features of the laptop would not work.

I'm putting my hard drive to a pen so that I can use the data. When I entracted the laptop hard drive, the hard drive has a blade (NOT 44 pin) adapter at the end one. I think I need to remove the adapter, while the hard drive may be exposed pins and then I can adapt it to the speaker.

I very hard unscrew the stems at the four ends.  I couldn't remove the pins to other places in the notebook easily enough, but these four pins are really difficult to unscrew.

Please can someone tell me how to unscrew these 4 quarts and it's the right thing to do so that I can get into the hard drive enclosure to the data on the hard drive to be used.
