Broadwell vs Skylake on iMac 21 "

Dear

I have a few questions about the processor on iMac 21 "4K:

1. it will be soon possible to buy an iMAC 21 "using the Intel Skylake ?

2. don't Broadwell processors (i5/i7) remain the only option that can be selected on the Apple store online for the iMac 21 "?

3. If Skylake processors will be available on 21 "iMac, when would it possible?

4. is there a substantial difference between Broadwell and Skylake?

5. I want to buy an iMac 21 "which will last 8 to 10 years. He would with a processor i7 Broadwell or should I wait for Skylake option available on this kind of office?

Note: I have shared the Office in order to use Apple AND Windows. I would like to use the computer for internet movies, office, composing music (for example, recording and editing music through the connection of my digital piano to her).

Thank you very much in advance for your answer.

Kind regards

  • Is an upgrade to XPS 8500 to 8700 worth?

    Salvation;

I am a happy owner of a XPS 8500, in which I have recently updated the GT 640 stock to a 760 GTX graphics card.  Today make a Support Dell driver update inspection and I remembered that my PC is a 'first version 2012 '.  As a guy who is used to look at the new cars every 2 years, I do with my Dells.

Apart from a system with a new guarantee, what improvements are there between the 8500 and 8700?  Looking at the specs, I have trouble seeing what is really better.  Of course after looking at the new Chevy I would always wander on to the Buick.  The new Area-51 is something to see!

Is it fair to ask this question: is there a XPS 8800 just around the corner?

It depends on who you 8500. If it's a core i7 3770, then in my opinion, not worth the upgrade. the 4770 is faster and the 4790 slightly faster than the 4770 again, but is probably not noticeable to most of the work.

If you do not have an SSD, look by adding a. It will make a huge difference.

The 760 GTX is good, but really it's just OK. (I'm a so I'm not bagging on yours) a upgrade to a GTX 970 would be noticeable if you game.

Next gen on the horizon Intel chips are Broadwell and Skylake. Read about them. Mon.02 is later in 2015 or 2016 at first there may be a few desktop computers that are really a step above what came out today.

All that being said, if you have need for speed CPU now, build a K 4790 and overclock.

  • Broadwell CPU/GPU in the new iMac 21 inches will meet the system requirements? Or is a dedicated GPU still necessary/preferred?

Seek an editing machine dedicated to work. My employer and I are leaning toward the new iMac 21 inches. Would have preferred the GET a older with GeForce GT 750 M, but that the ship has sailed. This new configuration will work? Is there another solution that I'm dominant?

You are right on the use of 21-inch Broadwell. I missed that part of myself. The GPU acceleration is where the handle of the GPU of some framework aspects during the processing of image data in real-time or rendering. In the case of Adobe the GPU handle scale IE a resolution, interpolation and some FX. Those who normally take a significant amount of CPU resources by image that makes discharging them to the much more efficient GPU for the amount of data processed at the same time. This allows the CPU to focus on the decoding and encoding of data, which can take significant resources according to the multimedia codecs. Adobe added some acceleration for some Intel GPU a while back, but I don't know if this includes I7 Gen 5 or 6 Gen Intel GPU underway and those who. If it's not that I think it not then using Intel or AMD won't matter that acceleration is turned off. AMD open CL would allow much better performance edition in the future when Adobe finally cleans the Open CL.

  • 2015 iMac 5K - investigation of cooling fan

    Hey guys,.

I just got the iMac end of 2015 5K with i7 Quad-core (skylake), 4.0 GB AMD R9 M395X, 32 GB of RAM, 2 TB Fusion Drive. The cooling fan is very quiet and it's quieter in the way, but when I've rendered from Adobe After Effects or Adobe Premiere fan starts booting (and then turns off once done rendering).

So, I wondered, - is this normal? It overheats? Contact Apple Support? This hurt the longevity of the iMac?

    Thanks for all your contributions!

Yes this is normal. The management control of the system is the detection of additional heat to the rendering process load and lifting the fan to avoid overheating.

  • Pls advise RE: purchase of / resale MacBook Pro w / retina after Skylake-chipped MacBooks are released.

    Hello

I'm looking for advice from the community RE: purchase of

MacBook Pro 13 inch with Retina display

    Core i7 processor

    16 GB OF RAM

    512 GB Flash storage

I need a laptop NOW. So, unfortunately, I look forward to the implementation of models of MacBook Pro with chips of Skylake, would have been to be released maybe in June 2016?

    1. I guess that's a bit like buying a car, for example, the machine value will depreciate as soon as we get to my office and then drop when the new models take place. Is this correct?

Despite my suspicion, that the answer is a YES in the above, I tell myself to buy the machine, I need now and when the Skylakes fall, I can sell the MacBook Pro, I'm about to buy.

Skylakes or not, the above specifications are how I would set up - I wish the 1 TB of Flash storage, but I would not spend $ 500.

    2. the Flash storage problem would significantly influence the resale value?

    3. should I buy this or I am about to make a terrible mistake?  My (endless) research indicates this is a good machine - & I visited it in the store and fell in love with a video duck / the Retina display. I love more screen real estate in general, but I decided to trade for portability since I've also got an iMac. I would really appreciate the wisdom of the community and put an end to the fatigue of my decision.

Thanks as always for your help!

Since you told us about what you plan to do with it, we can say anything on the Mac you have chosen.

It was my standard answer that if you need now then buy.

  • Choosing iMac and MacPro

Looking for entry and helps in this decision-making process.  Considering an iMac on a MacPro I for the convenience of space and portability currently and want to ask people here in the Mac publishing community for their 'opinion' and ' experience' with similar applications, work or use.  I have retired and you want to reduce the amount of work that I do more to clean up my workspace of excessive and other cables.

Or the other system I edit with Photoshop CS5, FCPX, Lightroom and use (use) external thunderbolt matrix RAID 0 with two internal disks, mini disks external hard thunderbolt and a CD/DVD/BluRay external burner.  I will edit not 3D.  I will edit 1 4K video camera eventually, but not much.  Most of my work will be no emergency BUT that said when I'm working I don't LIKE COLOR WHEEL LOOKS or mini jams.  Finally, I get the SSD single bolt of lightning and hope that sometimes in 2016 thunderbolt RAID 0 with dual SSD.

Here are my specs current and proposed with the MacPro CURRENT being a "just above entry level" Late 2013 and proposed iMac which is an end of 2015 and at the top of the iMac.

Thanks to all those who respond and if the expected choice to make the iMac purchase, I will sell the MacPro and aged a year Thunderbolt display.

just an opinion, no experience in this League of the boxes, no users 'pro', just an amateur enthusiast here...:

I'm 4-6 rivers multicam editing on my MacMini (well Yes, tupperware box) on a weekly basis, no beach balls - how is it? FCPX using ' smart function to distribute the media on several media (and mine are just usb3, no CT). Bulit (transformation, CC, Center) effects are 'live', no need renderining effects no wheels, no waiting.

My latest toy is a cam 4 (Lumix fz1k) k - without no flaws, no lock either using proxies.

speaking of proxies, ok, when it comes to conversions on im - and export, I must admit hours might go look at a bar, more and more warp of snail...

    Two links:

    • my "stunt", 4x4k on a mini, set up at the same time improved by a post, usb3 SSD

    • the speed test only elusive, BruceX, because FCPX is so highly integrated with Mac OS and hardware, any other criterion of reference is, imho!, simple waste of time. In terms of specs, my Mini is a Pocket Calculator-, but he runs circles around a consumer grade Windows machine, performing simple tasks, AP...

as said, me no technician, I am a user, what's going on "under the hood" is of no interest to me. Miss me the discussion of any 'speed'; faster conversions would be nice... nice2have, but it doesn't make sense for me to spend a sum of 5digit, just to wait 20 min instead of 25...

For the AP, the not-so-newMP seems to also not so well suited, what I have heard (but do not understand... CUDA? OpenGL? drivers?) its GPU doesn't support Adobe speed tips. Not first hand here, my budget does not rent the software.

My lil' son's latest project, a holiday film, with hundreds of photos and a gross of phone-vid mixture and actioncam-stuff, almost no matter what color corrected framework, the effects of home-brewn & titles, 35 min, fullHD > No when editing > 1 h beach balls for export, and even ancient iDVD (for Grandma & Grandpa) was done at least 30 min...

  • It seems that Alienware forgotten Skylake for Area 51

    Maybe next year some time?  ;-}

Regardless of the difference in performance, area 51 R2 (and very probably the R3) use a different chipset chipset regular Skylake as Tesla was noted. That means that Skylake be taken in charge and would be regular processors.

Currently, area 51 R2 uses the Haswell-E (5000 series) processors. Most likely, the successor will use Broadwell-E or Skylake-E, if Alienware jump Broadwell.-e. Those who don't start coming until next year. Alienware refreshes generally when new CPUs or chipsets get rid.

(And I replied to the wrong person. Ugh...)

  • Freezes and restarts on 2015 5K running El Capitan iMac and am ready to freak me out

    Hi guys,.

If I posted my check and reports being panic, could someone tell me what caused random freezes and restarts on my iMac 5 K - ish, El Capitan running? I am a designer/Retoucher and I am in the middle of a big job, of course.

He went on and off for a few months. I have cleared my startup disk and played fresh OS installs (didn't even use Migration Assistant just to be safe), three times. I installed apps one at a time try to refine what is the cause but could not.

At first I thought it was my mouse Logitech G502 because when I went to an old mouse for a few weeks the problem has disappeared. But yesterday, listening to iTunes via Airplay and working in InDesign, the system froze again.

I wonder if she might be SoftRAID(4) and/or my two RAIDs of 4 external ThunderBay?

    Thanks in advance!

  • iMac restarts after sleep

Problems lately with my iMac 27 "5 K. After putting to sleep, it is restarts after about 2 hours.  If I wake up it before that date, it is usually very good. But after 2 hours, it restarts. Sometimes, I find it just be stopped. Most of the time when it restarts itself, it crashes with this gray bar filled about 80% progress.  I have reset the PRAM and EMS, checked all the settings in power management (not set to restart after power failure for example).

Another problem I 'bypassed' which may or may not be related (I'm including in case it is related) is that on El Capitan, my magic trackpad would randomly wake the iMac.  I had to disable the option to allow devices BT wake up the Mac. When I upgraded to Sierra, the iMac still wake up randomly due to an event of BT. After a lot of trial and error, activate the option "allow bluetooth to computer devices" back prevented the wake-ups at random and let me wake up the computer again deliberately with the trackpad.  Very strange.

In any case, I'm usually pretty ingenious to resolve this sort of thing myself, but the Console to Sierra news is terrible. Or maybe it's the system logs that are terrible, because I can't find anything about the causes of previous judgment that might provide a clue as to what is happening here.

So, any advice on how to solve the problem or at least to determine the causes of the previous stop would be greatly appreciated!

I recently installed Sierra on my iMac and you encounter problems with Siri. The main problem is that while Siri is enabled I can't him to hear me. I rechecked the microphone (internal) working and activated, I rechecked Siri is activated, I turned on and outside dictation and I did the same thing with the computer without joy.

I know that the microphone works as it works well with Skype etc, I simply can't Siri to hear me. Help please.

Hey, Siri, if that's how you try to use it, is not supported on Mac. You must enable Siri via the Dock or menu bar icons.
