Broken screen - Satellite C660

Tonight, I ran my computer screen that I rested it down (not too hard, but he slipped a bit from my grip).

The laptop seems to work fine except for a problem with the screen. About 3 quarters of the screen does not work, it's just white background with colorful stripes and a large black diagonal.

Is this likely to be simply a screen broken, which could be solved by replacing the screen itself? I'm waiting to order a new screen, but I don't want to spend the money if the problem is likely to be something else...

I also said that it is relatively easy to replace the screen yourself. I did minor repairs on laptops / pc in the past (new keyboard/keypad). I don't have insurance/assurance and can not afford a pro. Is this something, I should be able to do it myself?

> Is this something, I should be able to do myself?
In general Yes, you can do it yourself but without paper manuals maintenance and experience, it could be a little difficult and risky. Many screws are hidden and much small parts have plastic holders which could be broken.

Of course, it would be better to pay someone to do this on a professional manner without some risks. You must decide what needs to be done. If you want to do it yourself and there is a problem let us know.

Hi I broke the screen support on my C660 - 1 7. Does anyone know where can buy a spare part? Will try and stare at me.

As is - anyone have an idea of the cost for repair?

    Hey,.

Best option is to contact you service provider allowed in your country, because guys can order all spare parts of Toshiba.

You can find a list here:

  • Satellite C660 - 2 EV starts plus-Boot not found Bishop

I don't know how but my grandson has seriously broken the Satellite C660 - 2 EV

Boot from the disk - Boot Mgr not found

Boot from the recovery partition - Boot Mgr not found.

Boot from an installation (generic) Windows 7 disk - boots, begins to install, finds, he does not have a required driver (but don't tell me what it is). Allows me to access the drives C:, D:, E:, and X:

Boot from recovery Toshiba DVD. White bar gets about 25% on the whole of the screen then stops with "You have removed a USB support during installation" (or something like that, laptop currently in pieces).

Removed and replaced the memory and DVD player. Removal of the HARD drive connected to my PC via the USB adapter and scanned the two visible partitions (300 GB each) at the level of bad sector. No problems.

    Help! I'm out of options.

Laptop must be functional (basically) as it starts from DVD (non-Toshiba).

HARD drive seems OK when verified externally and start (Non-Toshiba)

    What remains?

Everything that you have done is good, and I would do the same tests.

The value of the default BIOS and test it with another HARD disk, if you can get one for testing purposes.
I can't say for sure, but somehow, I feel THAT HDD is the troublemaker.
Try installing the DVD of initial recovery on the new HARD drive.

  • Satellite C660-268 does not start, no start screen

My laptop Toshiba Satellite C660-268 was installing updates, then it froze for half an hour, I decided to force quit by pressing the power button.

I tried power, portable could not wake up, I can hear the fan but screen is not black, no post/splash screen (Bios screen), turn on the led goes for a few seconds and then turn off. I tried to press the important function, but nothing could make my laptop boot or stay on. Please,

I need your help in order to remake my boot laptop

I think that some of the material died during update installation.
From my point of few, it was simply bad luck that this error occurred during the update of the system.

There is only one real solution: the troublemaker should be found and replaced.

Theoretically, this issue can result from memory problems, but also the failure of the motherboard. The RAM modules are not very expensive and where the RAM is faulty, the fix is not a big problem.

But in case of malfunction of the motherboard, the laptop repair could be a very costly affair.

What could be the next step?
I think if you have no experience of mainframe, you should seek some professional help and assistance.

  • Satellite C660 - right of the screen will flash green

Hey, I wonder if someone can help me - the screen on my satellite C660, only about two months old, started flashing green stripes a couple of days after I set the screen forward slightly. Nothing has got rid of him, and whenever the screen is moved it flickers more strongly or turns into a solid green Strip.

I thought that this could be a problem where the screen connects to the computer, but I looked around the hinges and it seem not to be the son of cowards. I have not yet contacted Toshiba because I'll have to call their support number UK since France, which will cost a bomb, wonder if anyone here had any ideas first? If it happened to someone else?

    Thank you!

In my opinion, it is not so important if someone else the bonnet or not and that you should not waste your time waiting for responses.

I put t know where you bought this laptop but every laptop purchased in Europe has guaranteed EMEA then please call authorized Toshiba service provider in the country where you live now and ask for help. You have the new laptop and if there are some hardware related question lets fix that.

Addresses and telephone numbers of aspic all you can find on Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > find an ASP.

    Good luck.

  • Replacing the screen on the Satellite C660-2EH

Hi, I'm looking for a replacement screen for my Satellite C660-2EH and I can't find a specific model. I could buy the generic screen come to label C660? In some I found, for example:

    http://www.laptop-power.co.UK/laptop-screens/Toshiba-compatible/satellite/series-C660/model-C660.html

    http://www.laptopscreenonline.com/Toshiba-Satellite-C660-replacement-screen-laptop-LCD-15982-p.asp

Would appreciate any help that someone could give me on this matter, thank you!
    Zoe.

In my view the two links are OK, and you can't do anything wrong. AFAIK all C660 models use the same LCD display with following specifications:

Display Type - color display TFT LCD
    Size (diagonal) - 15.6 "(HD)
    Resolution - 1366 x 768
    -16:9 aspect ratio
Type of LED lighting - light side.

Only the difference can be a salesman or the brightness to level 8.

When you order this use being it's HD LED screen.

By the way: you want to exchange it only? I mean it's not so easy and if you don t have any experience with this kind of things that you should ask for help.

    Be careful about this.

  • Blue screen to Satellite C660-1EL

    Hi all

I have a serious problem in my satellite C660-1EL, I bought it for two weeks, I received free back and I installed WIN 7 Ultimate.

The problem is when I put on day of win 7 using auto. Update and installing these updates the notebook suddenly stopped. When I turn it on again it gave me a blue screen with the message "{color: #ff0000} {color} irql_not_less_or_equal" during boot.

I tried more time with safe mode, but still give me a blue screen before the victory. the startup.

I tried to install the new system using the CD original WINDOWS 7, but before the installation of the files are extracted, the bluescreen reappear.

I checked the RAM, HD, CD/DVD, in another laptop and it worked fine.

Also I tried to install WIN 7 using USB flash boot and Win XP PRO on CD, but still the same blue screen appears before the configuration copy victory. files.

Please help me, this notebook is brand new.

    {color: #ff0000} Note {color}:

Firstly the Toshiba start screen disappear, but when I removed the RAM and installed again it appear and I went into the setup by pressing F2 and restore the default bios, but still problem exists.

    {color: #ff0000} Sorry for my language {color}.

    Hey,.

The problem could be related to RAM modules as Timox wrote. You can test the modules of RAM with Memtest86. Which is a freeware software to test the memory modules live. If you do a Google search, you can find it. You must create a boot disk and if you start from that you can test the modules.

In General, there should be no problem to install Windows 7 on Satellite C660. If you have problems (blue screen), it could be a malfunction of the equipment. An authorized service provider can help you to repair the computer.

  • Satellite C660 - screen problem

When my wife got off the plane a luggage handler helped pushing his mother in wheelchair and dragging one of the bags behind him allowing my wife to take care of the rest of the luggage. Unfortunately, the laptop that sat on that bag decided that he didn't like the ride, he jumped the bag and tried to get into the terminal under its own power from the battery.

There is no visible damage to the laptop as it was inside the bag and no crack or anything on the screen. When turn on the laptop, the screen may remain empty, flicker or it shows the log on and office but instead of white to white, it displays a purple rose, only showing not ecru is affected. Other colors appear correctly although they look as if the display is set to 256 colors or the use of the wrong driver.

I plugged an external monitor to it and that works very well with the color. If the computer laptop screen flickers a light tap at the back of it he still will get, but the color is not corrected. I think it may be just a loose connection or wire cut between the screen and the motherboard but don't know if the color change would be caused by the present.

Satellite C660 (PSC1LA-00J001) looks brand new, but I don't think it would be useful to take to get fixed.

Any ideas on what could be the problem?

It took me 2 1/2 hours to post this same exact message because somewhere in there is profanity or inappropriate language. :(

    Hello

On this virtual path, it is not possible to say with certainty what the problem is here. Your laptop must be disassembled and all should be checked. Graphics card seems to be OK, so it must be a problem with connectors, cable or with the screen itself.
    > Satellite C660 (PSC1LA-00J001) looks brand new, but I don't think it would be useful to take to get fixed.
Why not? Same display exchange is not so problematic. Googling around you will find many online stores where you can order the new display, if necessary. Even on eBay you can get it at reasonable price.

If you do not have experience with this kind of things I recommend you contact the closest to the Toshiba service provider or some independent IT service and ask for help. Check what options are available and how much you have to pay for the repair.

  • Strange lines on Satellite C660 screen

    Hello

I dropped my laptop Toshiba Satellite C660 and now half of the screen shows lines everywhere in different colors. My question is, if I replace the screen with a new one it will solve the problem. I found a screen that I think will fit.

I'm really empty now, but I will need to replace the screen or buy a new laptop.

    Help, please.

    Thank you very much.

I m sure that the display is faulty, but if possible, you can connect the external display or TV to your machine and check if the desktop computer will display correctly on an external device. If so, it is certainly defective screen.

Where this is a problem on an external device too the reason may be the graphics card feature.

Anyway, after reading your ad I m also thinking that view must be exchanged and I also think that this will solve your problem.

  • Satellite C660/C6600 stays on a blank black screen

My Satellite C660/C6600 fails to load and once it is turned on it goes straight to a blank black screen after screen toshiba.

I can't access any menu, when using F2, F8 or F12, Im not sure that it is, but any help would be appreciated gratefully.

    Hello

    > My Satellite C660/C6600 fails to load and once it is turned on it goes straight to a blank black screen after screen Toshiba.

Because this means that you can see the Toshiba splash screen at the start then the screen turns white?
You see something on the external monitor? If you didn t test this situation, please do

I don t think that the display is affected, since you can see the Toshiba homepage
Not sure about the GPU but I think is GPU would be affected, then the Toshiba start screen would not be visible too. In your case, it is

    Well, try this work around:
-Remove the battery and AC adapter
-Press the power button / stop along 30 sec
-Bring the two parties together and try to turn on the unit.

You can also check if one of the memory modules may cause this
In this case, you must remove a module and must test the laptop using a module in each slot

  • Satellite C660 - 2 EV screen divided into three sections

Hi, please someone can help me?

My Satellite C660 - 2 EV has developed a display problem where the screen is divided into three equal sections or parts, with the section of the Middle standing in the middle of the screen, but the left side is now on the right side of the screen and the right side is now on the left.

Ive searched the forums and found nothing on the Toshiba site, which just closed, but found that many sites say that it could be a hardware failure, with either the graphics card or the Ribbon that feeds on the screen that runs through the hinges.

Can anyone plaese shed some light on this?

    > found many sites say that it could be a hardware failure, with either the graphics card or the Ribbon that feeds on the screen that runs through the hinges.

The same question is displayed on the external screen/monitor?
If so, this means that your graphics card chip (maybe the motherboard) is the troublemaker.

Help... dosnt do it every time, but most of the time. Not happy!

It is a fault, I don't expect this brand

    Thanks for any help

    Hello

    > I am disappointed to see the SHIFT key (left) and the CTRL pressed, causing the screen to go black intermittently when you type my blog...

What does this mean exactly? Press SHIFT and CTRL button turn off the display, and you are not able to see anything on the monitor?
    Is this good?

Have you checked if this happens with the help of an external USB keyboard too?
If this isn't the case, I guess that your keyboard is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.

One of my friends had a problem with my keyboard. The cursor jumped around and some characters are displayed two times this could be resolved by the BIOS update I m do not know if your laptop uses the latest version of the BIOS, but you can check this too.
