BSOD - STOP: 0X0000007E

Dell Laptop Inspiron 1545-6 months old (new). 64 bit. Belongs to a friend. Have not added any hardware.
Loads and works very well for about 4 minutes then BSOD with this message.
STOP: 0X0000007E (0XFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0XFFFFF8000202AB81, 0XFFFFFA60019EE798, 0XFFFFFA60019EE1701)
Having read a lot of material in the last 24 hours, and it seems that it is a driver. Which one?
Runs in mode safe with happiness. Restore to previous state has not helped.
A SPI with all updates and have tried to install SP2 but cannot because crashes too quickly.
Is it possible to install SP2 in Mode safe? I do not.

    I just got a refurbished Compaq 7700. It has Windows XP for drives of the refurbished computers.

    I try to boot from the hard drive (HD) and infinite loops, it is never past the initial home screen (black with blue status bar).

    I can't open the safe or the HD mode, it freezes at kmxstart.sys and then restarts again.

    My guess is that the screen is the problem, because it was full again when I received and therefore not tested with the system before shipping. Not sure about the mouse and the keyboard.

    I tried a few options in the BIOS screen as well, but no dice.

    Help! Before shipping the brand new...

    I'm at my wits end, I hope that someone can help you. I received MANY BSOD during the last 3 months. No changes have been made at the time, they just started. I used to receive a multitude of errors (ranging from atikmdag.sys irq_not_less_or_equal, no name - just a bsod and much more I don't remember).

    Since then, I've replaced the video card (had an ATI, now have a NVidia) and so ceased to see the atikmdag.sys BSOD.

    Now randomly I get this error: STOP 0x0000007E (...), the computer, and then tries to restart and invariably fails for about 5-10 minutes. I literally have to unplug the power cable for 5 minutes, then reconnect it to restart correctly.

    Edit: I just got a 0x0000001E BSOD...

    It is true that, since the replacement of the card video, the system is more stable (maybe 1 BSOD per day, rather than once every 5-20 minutes), but still, I would never see a BSOD!

    SB Audigy value (a bit old now)

    Here are all the steps I took:

    different memory

    different (standard and SSD) HARD drive

    I don't see anything else to try... I'm out of ideas

    Symptoms: Booted computer, loaded the raid drivers and showed at the start screen XP for half a second then to BSOD with a Stop error Code 0x0000007E - see also a lot of users (0xC0000001D, 0 x-, etc.) as well.

    Solution:

    1 boot from your Windows XP CD and start the recovery console. You may need to press F6 while RC loads in order to load the SATA drivers. you will have a prompt c:\WINDOWS to the console.

    2. type: CD $NtUninstallKB977165$ \spuninst (it's the update, I had to uninstall to get out of the boot loop, other updates can be uninstalled by changing the name of the directory to $NtUninstallKBCODE$, where KBCODE is the code KB)

    3. type: BATCH spuninst.txt

    4. type: exit

    Don't forget to configure your system to boot from the HD before resuming. I hope this helps. Saved me a lot of hassle today.

    I was confronted with the virus, this morning, and after removing all the source .exe and perform antivirus analysis, I was had BSOD.
    Now whenever I boot, I get a BSOD. I managed to prevent Windows to restart after an error, and I see this STOP error message:

    in Safe Mode, you must start the computer by using the Recovery Console to access the file.

    If the problem is associated with Win32k.sys, the source of the error may be a third remote
    control program. If this software is installed, you can remove the boot of the computer service
    by using the Recovery Console, and then by removing the offending system service file.

    Check the system log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help identify the
    device or the driver that generated the bug check 0x7E.

  • Window update created an error STOP 0x0000007E... cannot start.

    My Windows Update auto ran last night and said he had to restart... When it restarted I now have a BSOD with a STOP error message.

    Error code reads Stop 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x7D7FBB28, 0xF789E3E4, 0xF789E0E0)

    I can't go to the last good Setup...

    I can't switch to secure Mode...

    I "want" to restore to a previous restore point.

    I don't have a bootable installation disk...

    I can download and burn the CD from another PC if necessary...

    Any help would be appreciated... (Running Windows XP Media Center)

    UPDATE - I have logged on to the Recovery Console and search for updates to Windows that were installed yesterday.  (Go DIR $* the C:\Windows directory)  Here are the updates that might be the problem:

    Any of you who have the same problem verificarlo as well so that we can compare updates?  I would go to the bottom of this quickly because I am sure that this is not the only machine I encounter today with this problem.

    FIXED!

    OK - I uninstalled a few updates and now the PC boots fine.  The update that caused the problem is one of the following 3: KB977165, KB977914, or 978037.  I started with my list above uninstallation of groups of 3 in time to limit.  You will need a Windows XP installation disc to do this.  Start out of him and enter the Recovery Console.  To uninstall the updates to the recovery console, follow these steps:

    1. change of the directories in the directory to uninstall update in question: at the C:\windows prompt, type ' CD $NtUninstallKB977165$ \spuninst "and press ENTER.

    2 carry in the uninstall for this update script: at the prompt, type "BATCH spuninst.txt" and press ENTER.  She runs the txt as a command script file.

    I did for each the three edits I listed above (changing the KB... part to match the update I wanted to delete) and the PC boots into Windows without problem.  Now, off the coast of research three updates to find out which Windows has broken one and why.  Post and let me know if this helped some of you.

    For the life of me I can't figure out how to get my machine to boot successfully. Nothing changes when I choose Safe Mode, last known good Configuration, enable VGA Mode, booting, Directory Services Restore Mode or Debug Mode logging.

    It's very stressful, because I'm right smack dab in the Middle a semester at the College. I have most of what I currently need access to supported illuminates... but not quite all :( It is also very reassuring to be able to take care of the school of work away from the library of the University. Yesterday, my computer was working fine... I think that Windows has completed an update, if I can't remember now. As I woke up this morning, I was not able to boot all the way to Windows only once.

    My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6000 running XP Media Center, and I have not installed new hardware since I bought the machine about 3 years ago.

    Here are more details, where they can help in the diagnosis of my problem:

    • ID of the system board: 30BB
    • Type of processor: Genuine Intel(r) CPU T2250
    • Processor speed: 1730 MHz
    • Total memory: 1024 MB
    • Video memory up to: 128 MB
    • BIOS version: F.06

    I also learned to a blue screen that says something about "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA". I think that this happens when I try to start safe mode.

    Also, I never did much with computer problems beyond what could be repaired with the restoration of the system... so not being is not able to boot at all me has to stop. Please, I beg you! Help me?!

    Quick suggestion

    Some HP partition the hard drive. have you tried to type F11 or F12 during startup (before that he go to the option mode start screen)? It might take you for a HP recovery program in that partition (because windows don't be loading not to use that recovery)
