  Simply boils down to permissions on the file. I did a shared directory on my local machine and it worked fine with a colleague.

  Well - I thought I had all this worked and fixed, but I met the download error 'Why do we have several files with the same name' once again.  (I downloaded all the files several times today in order to 1) works the way it worked the last time and 2) get an OAM file that is not loading for some reason any load again and the download takes about an hour to transfer all the files manually.

  Okay, I found the outline of the bug. I was initially on the assumption that the question was how the XMP was written by Daminion. This is not the case. Their XMP seems fine. The bug is with the way we are going to analyze these JVC AVCHD files. It will take some research more sort everything, but at least now I'm on the right track. I tested the creation of metadata for a variety of other files AVCHD from Canon and Sony. All these files caused first create the XMP files with the name xxx.xmp. But, when I added the metadata in the JVC, the xmp always emerged as xxx.mts.xmp file. Then... I did some more tests with the file. If the extension of the file to rename. MPG, suddenly all the XMP you added the file in Daminion appeared. All the new metadata that I created has also been added to this file.

  Or SQL * Loader, or external tables are designed to read data from a CLOB stored in the database. They both work on files stored on the file system. If you don't want the data to be written to a file, you have to roll your own parsing code. It is certainly possible. But it will be much less effective than SQL * Loader or external tables. And it is likely to lead to a little more code.

  The simplest possible thing that might work would be to use something like Tom Kyte string tokenization package to read a line in the CLOB, divide the component parts and save the different chips in a significant collection (i.e. an object type or a record type that matches the table definition). Of course, you need manage things like the conversion of strings to numbers or dates, rejecting the lines, writing to log files, etc.
