BT Vision (UK IPTV / Internet)-+ Multicast Unicast on same port wired?

Hello

I recently bought a Nighthawk R8000 to replace my BT Home Hub 4. Everything goes fine until I checked the BT Vision service I have. This box uses the internet standard and multicast for television services.

The problem I have is that I can only have one or the other work at any time. So if I set up IPTV to cable port 4 bridge mode I get TV multicast channels but lose the standard Internet features.

If I then disable bridge IPTV mode I get internet services normal but lose the multicast channels.

Is there a mode / setting etc. that supports two IPTV multicast and unicast traffic to the same cable port?

It feels like this should be possible, I'm not sure what method to achieve this.

See you soon,.

Wayne.

Hi all

This is a firmware of the trial that you can try to make it work.

  • Several Applications using UDP Multicast Open (read only) on the same port

    Hi all

    Currently, I am trying to build a system that has the following architecture:

    RF Server = "1-9 A/D '-> «UDP Multicast (write-only) 1-9"»

    Workstation operator = "QTY (N) Data Display Apps all need independently to access one of the 9 UDP multicasts at a time.

    Essentially, I have 9 items of antenna that all digitized and distributed via UDP separate multicast address and port. On the receive side I need to be able to have the N number of data display applications where everyone can select the antenna element he wants to get data from. My current goal for N is 7 and the worst case for the data rate is 3.75 MSps IQ rates on each display.

    My question is whether or not it is possible to have several "UDP Multicast Open (read only)" on the same port but one by application Data Display? Also, are there limitations with this.

    On my local machine I tried a bit with the example 'UDP Multicast Sender.vi' and "UDP Multicast Reciever.vi". I created a "UDP Multicast Reciever2.vi" as another application that listens on the same port/Multicast address as the original receiver. No errors are thrown when you run the receivers and both receivers get the data string sent by the sender at the same time. Can I send data/a. 'PC'-> 'Router Ethernet'-> 'PC with receiver UDP N' reliable evidence? If so, that's fine, because it would be relatively easy to implement. BTW, I do not fear with occasional loss of data what is happening with UDP.

    If this does not work, I am also curious to know which deals with data deduplication. For example, two applications by subscribing to the same Multicast address and port does the router send two copies (which increases network traffic)? Or, the Windows operating system get a single UDP packet to the port and replicate in two independent applications?

    Below (or attached) are the two methods I thought. If multiple readers of UDP does not work so I thought I'd do a DataSocket "Data Distribution layer" between the incoming UDP sockets and display data on the workstation applications. This would add a bit of memory/processor to the PC workstation, but I know the DataSocket server of NOR can handle a sender unique multiple receiver architecture.

    Thank you

    Tim S.

    Hi Tim,.

    The number of concurrent applications, get data on the same port UDP will probably be a limitation of the OS as well. If I had to guess, I would say that 7 of the applications should work correctly. In fact, the memory/CPU bottlenecks are probably the limit on how many simultaneous readers we have, especially since the capablities of PC hardware differ from one computer to the other. I doubt that the OS has a strict limit.

  • I recently changed internet service providers and now my Wired desktop can't connect to the internet.

    I recently changed internet service providers and now my Wired desktop can't connect to the internet.  I noticed that the connection is showing 'Automatic private address' can I connect all my fine wireless devices.  I did extensive troubleshooting with my service provider, but they suggest that my master's degree network adapter must be replaced.  I updated the driver, and the device manager says it's working properly. If I connect the same wire for my laptop, it works fine.  This is just my office.  Any ideas how can I fix?

  • Two internet connection on the same PC (WiFi and ethernet)

    I have windows 8.  I have two internet connections. A cable (wired) and another in the microwave (wifi).  Normally isn't a problem because desktop computers are on the cable connections and the TV, laptops and other toys are on wifi.

    But sometimes I want to use two connections on a PC, like download a large file and stream and watch the Broncos game at the same time. I want to use Ethernet as a main and did use WiFi when Ethernet is too busy. I can't understand how to do this.  Anyone know?

    Hi Gerard,.

    You can activate the Wifi and cable connected at the same time, but you can use the Internet from one of them. The computer will prefer the cable if the cable is connected.

    If both are capable of providing Internet access, computer will prefer the wired (Ethernet) network to access the Internet (and not use the Wifi network to access the Internet).

    The advantage of using two connections is to get Internet access without interruption when a connection does not work.

    I hope this helps! Let us know if you have other problems with Windows in the future.

  • How to restrict multicast traffic to specific ports on GS716Tv3?

    I can not find specific instructions to limit traffic of multicast on the smart switch GS715Tv3.

    I need to force all multicast traffic to travel on a specific set of interfaces, or at least stay within a given virtual LAN on the switch to which it is native. All the changes you want multicast servers and listeners will be on these interfaces in their separate vLAN.

    We have several GS715Tv3 switches configured identically, but multicast traffic does not pass between the switches.

    Topology:

    Eight GS716Tv3 smart switches, each configured with three VLANS identical.

    No traffic should pass between these VLANS on the switch or pass between the switches

    In other words, even if all the 8 switches each have a vLAN named "IOSubsystem", I do not considered the same vLAN.

    .

    vLAN 4 is corresponding to the hosts of Linux to address major

    vLAN 5 is for the audio subsystem

    vLAN 6 is for the IO subsystem

    VLAN each switch 4 has two active ports, a session to the external interface of the main Linux host and the other to a central switch of 9th GS716Tv3 where a system of software development is also linked.

    VLAN each 5 switch connects to the components of the audio subsystems (not shown).

    VLAN each switch 6 has two active ports, a going inward a lead Linux host interface and one for the IO subsystem.

               -> [vLAN4 | g10]---> [Switch #9]-+.
    -> [vLAN4 | g9]-> [Linux host #1: eth0] |
    [Switch #1]-> [vLAN6: g1]-> [Linux host #1 | eth1] |
    -> [vLAN6: g2]-> [e/s 1 subsystem] |
    |
    -> [vLAN4 | g10]---> [Switch #9]- +---> [software Dev host]
    -> [vLAN4 | g9]-> [Linux host #2: eth0] |
    [Switch #2]-> [vLAN6: g1]-> [Linux host #2 | eth1] |
    -> [vLAN6: g2]-> [subsystem/o 2] |
    ... ~
    |
    -> [vLAN4 | g10]---> [Switch #9]-+.
    -> [vLAN4 | g9]-> [Linux host #8: eth0]
    [Switch #8]-> [vLAN6: g1]-> [Linux host #8 | eth1]
    -> [vLAN6: g2]-> [i/o subsystem #8]

    We get multicast traffic unwanted between each of these systems, causing corruption of our stream. We limit the multicast traffic on vLAN6 of each switch to stay on the vLAN6 of this specific switch.

    Thanks for any help.

    To switch the management VLAN to 4.

    Make sure you have 2-way switch, one in VLAN4 in a VLAN1.

    4 and apply the value of the system you use to a static IP address to the switch and confirm the access to the web configuration and then change "management VLAN ID. then pass the system that you use on the port or any VLAN 4, then you should have access, otherwise, wait about 60-90sec and try again, because you might have PLEASE and it will block anything on the port for just under its set to "Enabled" 'Fast Link '.

    Then under "IP Configuration" value switches other IP address in IP range of VLAN4.

    For the love of Simplisicty, unmarked ports should never be in 1 VLAN simultaneously.

    And instead of using the point and click, goto "Port PVID Configuration" and just create the VLAN it.

    Member of the PVID and VLAN the same thing for a port, on what VLAN, it must be in the database

    And to confirm, you have a cable from switch to each VLAN? You can cut down on cables and ports if you tag/trunk ports to the next switch. then all VLAN 3 just 1 cable between each pair of switches, saving you at least 4 ports on each switch.

    Just an example of my GS724T (ignore ports g8 and g-19-20, their current PVID is because of something else you do not, LACP and Span/Monitoring):

    All ports are configured to a single VLAN, my 'LAN hand' is VLAN12, that the management VLAN is set for, g23-24 ports VLAN trunks, they are set on tagg VLAN12 and 14 when the traffic is out of these ports, then switch to the other side reads the consequence tagg and acts, that way I don't need 2 cables/port for each of them.

  • Can I use multiple internet connections on the same PC?

    Original title: network: help me please. (title 2nd edit: I have 1 dsl, 1 wimax connection I want to use 2 internet connection on my pc, use one of them to download and one for navigation)

    Hello microsoft
    I need your help as soon as possible. I have 1 connection dsl and 1 wimax I want to use 2 internet connection on my pc? Can you help me? for example, use one of them for download and the other for navigation. Please help me?

    Why not!!!  You can use "Sun xVM VirtualBox" (software that allows you to use another Windows throw Windows)

    You just need to have a usb ADSL modem modem. While you can link the usb modem to the virtual Windows. (And a download in the virtual Windows Manager). This (USB MODEM) is necessary because the main window does not define the usb modem ( again MUST NOT IDENTIFY) TO IDENTIFY THE MODEM IN THE VIRTUAL WINDOWS ACTIVATE activate the setting of the Sun xVM VirtualBox USB controller and then install the software of your modem for the virtual Windows and then start the download. After The Connect WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access () To the Main Windows. Then, start the download with it. So easy! only, you should spend some time to get rid of.
    I've tried it! This works.
    ATTENTION:
    1. you should allocate your hard drive for your virtual windows.
    2. If you want to transfer files between two windows, you must enable the USB controller in the setting Sun xVM VirtualBox .  And a Flash memory is required to transfer files between two windows.

When I try connent to my router it trying to connect but then jump on it and then try to connect to linksys.  where it says so "limited or no connectivity.
    I tried the pluging the ethernet cable that I use on my desktop to my laptop and my laptop still won't connect even if its connected to the wire. so I don't think that its you just wireless. Ugh.

    Hello

    If there is a capacity of wire and it doesn't, forget for now wireless since there is little chance it will work.

    Dealing first with the wired connection, http://www.ezlan.net/debug.html

    When the connection of the wire works, use it to connect to the menu of the router (read the manual of the router) and check the wireless setting.

    Disable security wireless to the router and see if you can connect without security.

    Once you can connect without security, enable security.

  • WRTP54G router: I have wireless internet access, but is not a wired desktop computer.

    We have a great wireless network in the home, but my office (which is not wireless) is unable to access the internet.  It is said that a network cable is unplugged - it isn't.  When a cable is plugged into one of the 4 ports on the back of the router ethernet, ethernet LEDs located on the front doesn't light up or blink or anything.  I think that the part does not work.  Is there something I can do?  Should I update the firmware?  Or just get a new router?  I tried different cables, but nothing changes.  The only way for the office get online is to take the router configuration, but then the wireless network and the Vonage phone came out.

    I went to ipconfig at the prompt of commands and under the Ethernet connection to the Local network card: my media is media disconnected.  So, I'm guessing that the router's ethernet ports do not work.

  • multicast on general trunk port

    I want to work on my switch 2-port multicast.  How can I do this?   It worked until I changed my ports in general to add a vlan tagged.  Then my multicast has stopped working.

    My config is attached.  G1 and g3 are the ports I want multicast job.  What else I need to add to make it work?

    Mark

    What traffic from servers is labeled for VLAN 98? If servers sending any traffic tagged VLAN 98, there is no need to have the port general mode.

    By default the PVID for mode general is VLAN 1, we don't need to specify to add 1 VLAN as not tagged. That means that we can remove #switchport general allowed vlan add 1 unidentified, the config.

    If you place the port mode access for VLAN 1 it starts working again?

    Have you tried with ssmping?

  • Internet access on the same network

    Hello

    Thank you in advanced for your time and your help.

    We have a CISCO PIX 515E firewall. The idea is to allow some users to navigate the Internet, while keeping others totally blocked him. They are all on the same network inside.

    What would be the best practice? Is this possible?

    Thank you!

    You can also configure a proxy and allow only the address of the proxy on the firewall. So, forcing everyone to have a user name and password.

    You can use the Cisco ACS with the PIX Server make AAA - authentication (which can come out) permission (what they can do - ports, services) and accounting (what they did).

    Yes, public internet on a stick

  • When I connect to Wi - Fi internet, and at the same time as happens?

    I have a laptop and I connect to Wired internet and wireless at the same time. What does my laptop? Connection speed to the internet both wired and wireless to the top of my internet? Or should it make any difference? I'm always looking for ways to speed up my internet.

    I agree with Alfa S - test both and see which works best for you. Theoretically there should be no difference because there is not any speed of Internet home/nonommercial to the United States that go beyond the capabilities of each network wireless "N" or wired Ethernet networking, but the details vary depending on many variables outside of the theory. For example, your router may have a good wireless signal, but a shit Ethernet switch so it can work better with wireless.  On the other hand, you can be so far from the router wireless is difficult but Wired works well. Test for yourself and see.
