  I did a post on the Windows Forum on this issue and not help.

  I'm using the option click on my mouse, but in recent days the single click does not always work.  Whenever I have simple click on a desktop icon, a file or something in a file/document, or anything else, nothing happens. It usually takes 2-5 left clicks to do anything. Makes no difference if I'm working offline or online. This also true if I change back to double-click.

  I only did 2 restorations - no help. I also run scans on the hard disk and the registry. No help.

  I beginning to think that I might have to do a restore to factory settings but don't want to do that. Too heavy and a lot of time to get everything back to "normal".

  Any ideas what could be causing this?

  I use wireless on 4 different PC Logitec mouse and they were generally excellent, with a few exceptions (BIOS problems) and interference of frequency from other devices.

  If you have any doubts, try a wired mouse.

  This could be due to your double-click speed, look on your control panel and go to the mouse. There will be a tab for with double click on set your speed to what you want and test on it fake file.

  I was running low disk space and my IT dept says: they removed some "temporary files". Everything they did watered IE so that she came back to v7 V8. They Redid the upgrade of IE and installed a bunch of updates to MS and updated Java, but I'm still having a problem in FF. Most of the sites are fine, but when I go to Yahoo or Hotmail email, left click does not work. I tried to uninstall/reinstall FF. I tried to launch FF in safe mode and reinstall some of the plugins I thought that might have effects. I still can't run. I used some of the tools web dev in FF, all I know is some of the errors that are reported on the loading of the page. On Hotmail, one is that a var called 'JQuery' is undefined, among others.

  Clear the cache and cookies from sites that cause problems.

  • Tools > Options > advanced > network > storage (Cache) offline: 'clear now '.

  'Delete Cookies' sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > privacy > Cookies: "show the Cookies".

  Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance/themes).

  If you use Firefox, I discovered that, for almost all of the links on the site above, perform a CTRL + click or a SHIFT + click the link does not open the link in a new tab or window, but on the contrary is no nothing that either.

  I introduce myself first, I'm 70 years old, a qualified electronic former Tech at the time we could not dianose componnet level for repairs.   The right click button does not work on the mouse pad, as well as a usb mouse. I used Acer to factory restore disks to restore it to out of box state. Same question. If you use the control panel to switch the buttons then the only thing that happens is the cursor move no click at all.  Also after a period of rental time computer warm up suddenly the cursor works, but even the left click will not work it will highlight the icon but not allow you to click on it. I wonder is the only solution to replace the motherboard as it seems to be a worse problem of heat.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  And before I forget, Yes, I replaced the drivers a couple of both clean install so

  Looks like you did everything I thought and much more. He makes it sound like a problem with the hardware at this stage and would require the replacement of the motherboard. Looks like that the southbridge is not working properly.
