  Needless to say that a CPU upgrade in a laptop is totally sensless because you won´t gain true high performance. On the other side, you have to be a technician who should be familiar with these systems, because a mobile system is NOT THE SAME as a desktop system.

  Regarding your question:
  This system is not able to take a dual-core cpu, because you only have an Intel 910 chipset / 915GM which can only take Intel pentium M.

• Qosmio F20-137: very noisy left speaker

  Just had the Qosmio F20 - 137 3 days. The left speaker or something in the chassis is teeming with some frequenzies in the sound. It is very annoying, especially since I bought this for multimedia application. Does anyone know if there is a reason known to the buzz?

  All speakers usually begin to vibrate (for the buzz) if the bass is high.
  I think it s not a malfunction. You should check that the sound properties and you shouldn't t turn on maximum bass controller.

  I scanned the site, but I could not find any information. It doesn't seem to be any way of contacting someone @ Toshiba to ask a simple question!
  I'm considering buying a Qosmio F20-137. As this point is purchased as a desktop replacement, I do not want to make the purchase, unless there is a Dockstation available for this model. So my question - is there a Dockstation available?

• Re: Qosmio F20-137 - after I installed Windows 7 I have no sound

  I installed Windows 7 on my Qosmio F20 and all the drivers have been installed by windows update after I connected to the Internet.
  I can play music and videon to files in Windows Media player, but there is no sound in speakers or if I connect the headphones.
  If I look on the driver for the sound in devicemanager he says that everything is OK. Does anyone know what is the problem?

  I also reinstalled Windows 7 but still the same problem.

  Hi sta1n,

  Maybe the sound is muted... Check using the FN + ESC key combination that can toggle the sound.

  Also, check the page of Toshiba. Qosmio F20 taken Windows 7 isn't supported so that you can try the Vista driver.

• Billboard Qosmio F20 - 137 gone BLACK-nothing visible to all

  Hi guys
  Im having trouble with my Qosmio F20, I recently formatted my hard drive with a disc of recovery of the product I received from a friend. The disc is for another Toshiba laptop running Windows Vista.
  Everything worked fine when I formatted my HD using the usual disk except for similar-slow video playback that you get when you upgrade a F20 XP to Vista.

  I closed my laptop-tried to put it on 3 days later and that's where the problem-all lights normal except my screen, I noticed, it's completely black. I had the utility of windows password, I tried to enter the password on the black screen but nothing happens.

  HD only turns on for a second when I press the power button to turn on the laptop, it blinks not or anything after that.

  The Fn + F1 to F9 keys do not work due to the utility of password so I can't use safe mode.

  Please help me solve this problem, im really in love with my laptop.

  It was really a bad boyfriend... Do not use the recovery CD that was not designed for your notebook from the series!

  Is the restore CD contains an image file and this image file contains the operating system, drivers, tools and other programs.
  If you want to use incompatible drivers then it could affect the material of the laptops and the system performance... in the worst case the hardware may be damaged.

  But look, man, you should try to remove the HDD (HDD format) of the installed image and try to install an OS designed for you Toshiba Recovery CD from the series or you can use a clean Windows CD.
  Then you can check if this problem is only with the wrong software.

  But from your description, it could be a hardware problem. This does not sound good, and in this case, the ASP must check unit.

  Hi, I recently bought the laptop f20 - 137, but were not able to fully the product recovery needs (ex display, so loading of the store settings), I have not, however, make the Qosmio Player recovery disk, it has not been included in the box when I bought, nor has the product recovery, but I have now received a copy of this at Toshiba is there any where I can download the Qosmio Player to leave recovery?

  He s strange because the Qosmio player recovery CD should be provided with the device.
  As far as I know, you should get this media:
  -Recovery media (CD or DVD)
  -QOSMIO recovery media player
  -Additional software CD
  -MS Works 8.0

  However, it should be possible to order all the CD at the Toshiba service partner in your country.

• Qosmio F20-137 - black screen - dead graphics card?

  I have a F20-137. The screen is blank and also the laptop can't seem to fly other views or through the output S-video. It is used to go back to work if you out the battery and you press the 'works' for a while. No idea why this worked!

  It's probably the graphics card no longer works? If Yes, where can I get replacement second-hand (I'm sure they cost more than the value of the laptop to buy new).

• Qosmio F20-137: WLan connection falls very quickly from 54mbs to 1mbs

  I connect to internet using my F20-137 via a linksys g wireless router.

  The router is in another room (25 feet and on two walls) for the laptop computer and the connection very quickly falls to 54mbs to 1mbs.
  Is it possible to maintain the speed of connection or is it because of the distance. An external wireless card help?

• CD writing problems on Qosmio F20-137

  I bought the laptop in March, but still have not solved this problem.

  The CD that I record on the laptop will play in all CD players in my home and car stereos, but that they will not play in my car stereo. However, the CD recorded by other people using the same CD will play in my car. After useful suggestions of Pedro and João I tried several brands of CD and various software - Windows Media Player, Sonic and Music Match Jukebox, but without success. A few times, I got a CD for play by jumping forward securities so I think it might be something to do with indexing of the CD, but that's just a guess.

  Any suggestions?

  Some people have suggested Nero, but I heard conflicting reports on this topic. Can someone suggest the best version to go. I'm not optimistic it will work so I don't want to spend too much on it.

  There could be many different factors, why the CD cannot be read in you car drive.
  Sometimes burning quality depends on the speed of burning, different applications that run in the background, CD/DVD burner, burning software, CD/DVD media.

  However, I recommend also using Nero (Don t know the latest version but I use Nero 6). Also try burning with the lowest speed and don t forget to close the sessions!

  Documentation of the laptop and some posts, talk about the usefulness of improving the image to set the 'terminal form' option, but I don't see this option in my set-up.

  I created the DVD Qosmio G20 and this unit is probably more simple as on your F20. In any case if you carefully read the user for F20 manuals described therein:

  Video - in Port
  The port is used differently depending on the OS used in the computer.

  Windows XP Home Edition model: with the VIDEO-IN cable bundle, peripheral external such as TV, VCR, etc., can be connected to the computer and with WinDVR and WinDVD Creator Platinum 2 can be used to modify or view the entries.

  Media Center Edition model: with the cable to VIDEO IN cable or satellite set-top boxes can be connected to the computer to watch channels. Video not CAN NOT be retrieved for editing as in the model of Windows XP Home Edition.

  Now the question: which OS comes with your F20?

  I posted a message to wonder about the digital TV freezing on my Qosmio problem, a problem shared with many other users it seems a few weeks ago.

  While studying this problem, I used the available program of diagnostics of Microsoft Media Center, from the Microsoft Download Center. When it runs everything passes the test apart from the following:

  First MPEG2 Audio decoder & initial MPEG2 Video decoder. According to the program, they are both inconsistent with the media library.

  Anyone know if this could cause a problem with the TV?
