Busy in Windows Fax Scan line &

I can't do Windows Fax & Scan send or receive a fax.  I get the error message "busy phone line."  I also do not see an icon in the device for my internal fax modem Manager.  I have a HP 6930p Energy Star.  I am running Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit.   I have IE 9.  Thank you for any assistance.

Hello

This problem can occur because of incorrect settings or because of permission problem. To solve the problem we will try a few methods.

Method 1:
Make sure that you have configured Windows Fax and Scan to work with the modem. You can connect the modem to a fax only. You must also make sure that the computer is connected to an analog phone line, and that the phone line has a dial tone so that you can place and receive phone or fax calls.

Check out the link for more information.

Configure your computer to send and receive faxes
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/set-up-your-computer-to-send-and-receive-faxes

Method 2:
If you have already set up Windows Fax and Scan to work with the modem, but you still can't send or receive faxes, check them the modem settings to see if send and receive options are turned on.

To turn on send and receive options for a modem:

a. click the Start button, click all programsand then click Windows Fax and Scan.
(b) to use the fax at the bottom of the left pane, click Fax.
c. click on the Tools menu and then click fax settings. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
d. click the general tab and then, under device name, make sure that the modem is selected.
e. under send/receive options, make sure the checkbox allow the device to send faxes is selected.
f. make sure the checkbox allow the device to receive fax calls is selected and choose how to receive faxes:

-Answer phone calls as incoming fax calls using Windows Fax and Scan, click manually answermanually, then click OK.

-For Windows automatically answer phone calls as incoming fax calls, click automatically answer after Xrings, select the number of rings after which Windows may attempt to answer phone calls as incoming fax calls and then click OK.

Method 3:
If someone else set up the computer to send and receive faxes, you might not have permission to use the built-in or external fax modem.

To give all users permission to send and receive faxes:

a. click the Start button, click all programsand then click Windows Fax and Scan.
(b) to use the fax at the bottom of the left pane, click Fax.
c. click on the Tools menu and then click fax settings. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
d. click on the Security tab, and then, in the group or user names box, click everyone.
e. in the permissions for everyone box, select the checkbox allow next to permission to Fax and then click OK.

Hope this information helps. Answer the post with an up-to-date issue report to help you further.

  • The confirmation of receipt on Windows Fax Scan &

I use Windows Vista Ultima Winfows Fax & Scan.

I need to get a confirmation of fax receipt when I send faxes. Windows Fax Scan & has a "receipt of e-mail" option, but when I select it, I can't send faxes. I get an error message indicating that I have to deselect this option. I have reviewed all the menus and options, but impossible to find other options for confirmation by fax. I can't even include a "status" column in the "sent" box which would take account of the 'success' if the fax went through. I was able to add a "Status" column in the regular Inbox.

Can someone tell me how to change the setting so that I get a confirmation when my fax is received?

    Thank you.

  • Windows Fax & Scan does not open

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit version.  I've moved my documents of the C:\ drive for my E:\ Some time ago data drive.  When I open the Start Menu I see now "data (E :)". "on the button to read the 'Documents '.  I then the folder by right click on the default value of 'Documents' label, enter the properties/location and indicating that I tried the new location to be E:\ E:\.  The system has done this, place the folder Documents under E:\.  This has not been a problem until I tried to open Windows Fax Scan & today and I got a dialog window read: "Windows Fax and Scan cannot function as it can not access your documents folder.  Make sure that Windows Fax and Scan can access this folder. "It's all very logical, but it doesn't tell me how to do this.  How do I point to fax and scan to the new location of the My Documents folder?

    From: Russ Valentine

Reposting and quoting directly from the developers: we noticed a few problems as WFS is turned when the documents folder is redirected to the root of a drive (for example D :\) and study the same.) A quick solution is to move the documents folder in a folder under the root of the drive (for example at d:\DocumentFolder) with the ability to move all existing documents to the new location. This should allow for WFS to work.

This can be a matter of Office 2007. I use Windows Fax Scan & and Outlook 2007. I can't choose a recipient in Outlook 2007 Contacts correctly use in Windows Fax & Scan. When I click the To: button in Windows Fax & Scan I have only three columns displayed. From: Hal Hostetler

This is probably due to sync Palm/BB and/or the / import export, email addresses don't always 'solve' prevents them underscores when used in address lists.  One thing to note for the future is to NEVER use Outlook. PST, import and export functions, they are broken and have been, they lose data and the. PST Import feature usually corrupts the Outlook profile in use at the time.  Instead, just make a copy of the current value, by default. PST file when Outlook is closed, take this copy to your new computer, place it in a folder where it will NOT overwrite any existing... PST files, make sure it is not set to read only (which will happen if you use a CD for transfer, then open of in Outlook using ' file |) Open | Outlook data file. Also have you enabled in Windows features?

Turn on or off Windows features

While in Windows features, click him + next to printing and scanning. Make sure there is a check box in Windows Fax and Scan.  If it is checked will come uncheck and recheck, then restart your PC.

If it does not try to run the System File Checker

    3. type the following command and press ENTER:

If it does not move forward and create a new user account in Windows and see if he shows up there.

  • Not sure how to set up Windows Fax Scan &

Original title: "Windows fax and scan"

I'm not sure how set the computer to my phone... it is already connected to the internet... If I understand correctly... I think so..

If you use a dial-up connection, then the line is indeed already used with the internet.  You can do this through the internet, and you may not use this same line while it is used for the internet.  You need an analog (non-digital) line separated with a fax modem or (one in your system) be bound separately or you need to switch back if it is a good analog line and you have everything you need to fax. Here's how to set up fax and scan:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Set-up-your-computer-to-send-and-receive-faxes.  Here's a FAQ on Windows Fax and scan, which can also help to answer your questions:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Faxing-frequently-asked-questions.

  • Windows Fax Scan & editing scan profiles

I'd like to edit and/or delete some of my saved profiles scan (that store settings for scanning such as paper size, type of file scanner, contrast settings, etc.) in Windows 7 Fax & Scan.  I use it with an HP 8200 Series scanner.  I don't seem to be able to locate where the scanning profiles are stored, and I see no way to change a scan profile or delete it.  Does anyone know how to do this?

I found the answer, if you are still interested. http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_vista-pictures/Windows-Photo-Gallery-changingremoving-scan/c21c472b-9f83-4FDC-81ae-5b1140faf5e7

You must go to control panel, and then search for 'view scanners and printers' (I can't see how to get there otherwise). A 'Scanners and Printers window should appear that shows your printer and everything you have. At the bottom of the window, there are buttons "Refresh" 'Add a device' "Scan Profiles" and "Properties". Click on "search profiles". This brings a place where you can see all the profiles and can add a new, edit them, set one as the default or delete them.

  • Scan multiple pages to a pdf file using Windows Fax & Scan and a Brother MFC-7420 8

When I try a new scan with the charger (one side of scan) selected, the scanner makes each page in a separate file which is read by the photo rather than Adobe software.  In addition, the Brother scanner has been reset so that it will no longer scan multiple pages into a single file using my brother responsible program in my old computer with Windows 7.  How can I back to simple B & W scan multiple pages into a single Adobe pdf?  Thank you

    Hello Norman,

I would suggest trying the following steps and check if it helps:

    Scanning from the charger:

Step 1: Click on the 'Start' button on your desktop and type 'brother' in the search field. Point to the name of your MFC and select "ControlCenterx" (where "x" is a number one digit) to load the ControlCenter application in the system tray to the left of the clock on your taskbar. Double-click the "ControlCenter" icon in the system tray.

Step 2: Click on "Configuration" and select "Scan". Select 'File' as the type of scan to open the scan to the Configuration window.

Step 3: Go to the 'Touch' tab and choose "PDF (*.)" (PDF),"" # no multi-page Tiff compressed (*.) " (TIF)"or" # Tablet multi-page Tiff (*.) " (TIF)"under File Types, as these types of files allow analyses of several pages.

Step 4: Place the entire document in the ADF on the scanner and press the button "Scan" of the machine. Press the 'Arrow' key to select 'File' and press 'OK '. Press the button 'Start' to scan to a single document.

    Scan of the glass:

Step 1: Lift the cover of the document on the Brother MFC, place the first page face down on the glass and close the lid.

Step 2: Click the 'Start' button on the computer and in the search box, type "scansoft. "ScanSoft PaperPort" and select "PaperPort."

Step 3: Select the Brother MFC as the scanner, and then select a profile, such as "B & W Document". Click on "search".

Step 4: Remove the glass on the first page after that latter was analyzed and place the second page on the glass. Close the lid and click the button "Scan more Pages.

Step 5: Browse all pages in the document one at a time. When you are finished, click the Finish"" button.

Hope this helps, simply reply to get help on Windows.
