The USB key must be formatted in FAT32 and use the GPT partitioning scheme. To do this, you must use Rufus, a small tool that you can download for free.

    Hello

Your question has not been answered by Erico on one of your other posts?

If a piece of equipment is certified MS then it should be presented to MS for certification.  Some USB flash drives are marked on the package compatible with Windows 8, but this does not mean that the particular flash drive is "certified."

There is to many, many USB flash drives that work with Windows 8. Some have argued that, if the USB flash drive as a 'removable' device, so it should work with the HP Recovery Media Creator.  However, I recently discovered that one of flash USB 2 (team F108 64 G) drives that I is not set up as a 'removable device' when you open my ThisPc (myPC) and it works perfectly for me.

  • How to install Windows XP using USB Flash Drive in Windows 7?

I m windows 7 and want to install windows xp, how to install windows xp using a usb flash drive. I have the iso file from xp.

    Hello

The Microsoft Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool is designed for the installation of Windows 7, is not for the installation of XP.

I suggest that you use Google that Microsoft does not support what you want to do.

  • Trying to recover a Windows 8 compatible USB flash drive

Can someone help me please? I think that I have a hard drive failure or a fault. It specifies the drive name: TOSHIBA MQ01ABF050 and C:\;D:\ volume. I have a HP Pavilion Sleekbook with windows 8.1 14 TS (I upgraded from the Windows 8 which came with the laptop) and I unconsciously created a recovery image on a USB compatible of Windows 8 successfully when I lived already problems with my portable hard drive. Later, I discovered that it is not recommended to create a recovery image on a USB compatible of windows 8. I hope to just get back to factory settings and wipe out all my files if it can help me my laptop in working condition I have already backed up my important documents to USB. My next question is 1.) The recovery image that I created with the usb it's 8 compatible windows won't work if I try to do a factory reset? 2.) the recovery image I created everything with the mistakes already, will be technically 'clean', which means he has everything needed for a laptop running once I replace my hard drive or perform recovery with hard flow drive up? (3.) I will be able to restore from the recovery partition? or affect the hard drive failure that animate as well? Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance to those who can help me.

Note: my USB flash drive is also compatible with windows 8 AND 7. Is it possible to transfer only in just a usb compatible windows 7 if I encounter problems because of the compatibility of windows 8 flash player, I used for the creation of recovery image. Thank you.

The question of compatibility you're talking about is one where many flash drives are seen as a local instead of removable storage disk - and HP Recovery Manager wouldn't use it to create a recovery media. Since you were able to create your USB support has been recognized as compatible for use. You should be fine with recovery use.

  • Cannot access a Windows 7 upgrade USB flash drive

Upgrade from Vista basic to Windows 7 Home Premium computer accepts flash drive but I can't access it. It is correctly stated in devices & Printers but not in my computer as a lettered drive. Read jasmith31 problem, but do not have a Security tab in properties. No error other than "installed device driver. Help please

    Hi lakeside71,

This problem mainly occurs when windows 7 does not assign a drive letter for your USB drive. It occurs especially with the new flash drives connected to the computer for the first time. Assigning a new drive as such letter should solve the problem.

Please follow the steps in the article posted by Shekhar on how to achieve this.

    This should be it.

    Kind regards

  • NB100 - How can I reinstall OS from USB flash drive

My laptop TOSHIBA NB 100 has no CD-DVD player.
Operating system is Windows XP Home SP2.

    Operating system won't start.

Laptop start not at all so I can't run any kind of test when I turn it on.

The thank you screen come on it says launch safe mode, the networking of safe mode, safe mode comand prompt or start windows normally. But no matter who I chose, that it does not start it only goes to Windows and looks like its starts but then shows the blue Windows screen & stays there.

So I want to reload Windows from my USB flash drive.
The BIOS boot sequence is the USB HDD - FDD - FD - CD memory.

What are the steps for loading Windows USB flash drive?

If that does not work then I want to connect another laptop with Windows CD in the CD - DVD drive laptop.
Will this work? The laptop will use the Windows CD in the drive of the laptop to load the operating system?
    How to make this connection?

    Hello

You usually have an external USB CD/DVD drive to boot from the Windows XP disc or the Toshiba recovery disc.

But there is a method that allows you to install Win XP using the 2 GB USB key.
This is possible because the NB100 BIOS supports booting from USB key.

    Pease check this Web page:

  • Password reset disk only describes the use of floppy drive A (and they are obsolete). Password reset disk cannot be a CD-DVD, I can use a USB flash instead of the floppy drive?

I wanted to create a RESET DISK of PASSWORD, but NOOOOO - my machine has a FLOPPY DRIVE. No product only the CD/DVD PLAYERS and one cannot change the a drive to a different letter designation.

If you really NEED to do this, you are up the proverbial Creek, apparently.  Hard to believe!   How long has he given now that ANYONE used FLOPPEIES (small square disks)?  Certainly, we are asked not to believe that nobody is realized for this oversight!  I TRIED a CD/DVD - no dice.  My machine has 2 CD/DVD players, a Terrabyte Mobile with a slot drive.  My spouse has built this machine, and it is ensured that there are enough USB connectors that I could plant some tulips!  (It's photography & video editing - retirees have a busy life, that pays well.)  There are sites for readers of any persuasion EXCEPT the 1998 'PLACE floppy DISKS'.  Also, as with most machines, I do not want to return and crush things that my husband has a loading on the drives and call other than the names they bear within the network as things go well, otherwise.  We can't decide to call H Drive (CD/DVD drive), drive A, to say, just for the sake of my need to create a password reset disk.  My machine does not allow me to do things on the "fly".  I have to create a NEW one (and download something from those that already exist).  A ray of light shines through the same mess!  I think that maybe I can use a "USB key"?  Does not have a CD rom, but just explore, I ran across the words using a player instead of 'A' USB flash drive.  Hoping that USB key or "memory stick" is acceptable!

    Hi Janice,.

If you are using Vista, please see the following: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/window-on-windows/create-a-vista-password-reset-disk-using-a-usb-flash-drive/547.

If using Windows 7, please see the following: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/window-on-windows/use-a-usb-flash-drive-to-create-windows-password-reset-disk-in-windows-7/4142?tag=rbxccnbtr1.

From what I read, it seems quite simple and easy in both cases.  And not worry about drive letters - it will take whatever drive letter you choose (or who has been assigned to the flash player).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

Installation of Windows Xp from a usb key involves a lot more than simply copy the files from one windows on a USB disk. It is much more difficult than don't imagine most (but not impossible). I did it a few times. Read the instructions on the two links below. The first link below is your best bet. You are not likely to do things immediately. It's ok, we are here...
