Buying new laptop: what MBP?

Intend to transfer years of programming, about 50-60 patches with associated channel strips and audio samples, of a 2010 MBP running OS 10.8.5 MS 2.1.3 to a whole new MBP and OS. Think a model 13 "with 8 GB of RAM, but looking for recommendations on what will work best. SSD? Flash drive? More RAM? Thanks for your comments.

I do NOT recommend to get a model 13 ".  In addition to reading a lot of posts on various forums to audio/CPU questions when Mainstage is run on a machine of 13 ", I was also witness to these issues at first hand on several machines of 13".  In all cases, there was massive CPU questions and audio problems, especially when the MainStage is in Mode run.  The use of the processor in Mode run was literally 50-70% MORE than mode "Edit"... I couldn't believe it, and it took place on different computers that are running both the same and different concerts with various audio interfaces and MS.  Some have tried MS running in low resolution Mode (which is very ugly) and others have tried to use the MS in "Edit" mode.   I have a couple of friends who have bought machinery 13 "specifically to run MainStage concerts (because 13" models are cheaper) and after weeks of frustration, they sold these machines to be or they eventually used for non-musical purposes.  Personally, I believe that these issues are due to 13 "models do not have a discrete graphics card and because MS is so strong intense graphics, the CPU simply cannot manage it.

I highly recommend, highly get a 15 "model, preferably with 16 GB of RAM and an SSD.

No one can tell you that, until you tell us what you want to use the machine for. A laptop to read PDF files, is different from one for the use of Photoshop or After Effects. Indeed, some might tell you that a laptop is not suitable for After Effects. Let us cast the additional question: do you plan to upgrade to Windows 8? Which could also affect the recommendations.

There is really no way of knowing what your needs are.

Obviously you want to get the more RAM and CPU, you can afford.

Computer manufacturers main most have similar specs for the price range.

One thing I would say is to install the minimum software for install and remove software often lead to slowdowns, freezing, etc.

  • Get the new laptop, what to do with my old

I have a Compaq Presario CQ 60 2008. It is short-term memory. Technical Support function, I need to upgrade my laptop at least 8 GB of memory. If I do this, will it put something else to manage the memory upgrade?

According to the post, I have read here, being my OS was oringinally XP, upgrade to Windows 7 with Microsoft and is a 32-bit... I understand that it will only move to 4 GB. But support says that I need 8GB.

It's old and nearlly complete. I do not know how to clean 3 years of studies to it. I have a backup disk. (15 CD)

I probably just need a new, but what I do with this old? It always works well.

I'm a nursing student full time I'm going to need a lot of ram to our interactive graphic software.

Can anyone provide a bit of advice well informed as to what I should do?

If I update, what do I need to upgrade in addition to memory.

If I buy a new one, what should I do with this one because it still works well. ?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Hello

Interactive graphical software, I think that you need a better graphics card in your system more than anything else. 8 GB memory minimum is recommended however. I don't know if your processor is large enough for these tasks too.

Windows 7 32 bit can use up to ~3.75gb so upgrade up to 4 GB of RAM, is profitable.
If you need to use 8 GB, you must install 64-bit Windows 7 (you can install Windows 7 64 bit with the same authentic product key, you used to install the 32 bit OS, you just need ISO file Windows 7 64 bit to make the Windows installation disc)

You didn't on your laptop - exact model number, the name of the template?

If the cost of doing all these upgrade is superior to the performance's will offer its do better with laptop cheap with many more performance box. That you have to search and find.

Rather than burn your data & other files on CD, I suggest you just buy an external hard drive. You can get 500 GB, 1 TB of external hard drives ($70).

  • Updated Vista good together when buying new laptop

As far as I am informed buyers of a Toshiba laptop with preinstalled OEM Windows XP have a voucher to receive a license of Vista update for little money that it is proposed and discussed between Microsoft and OEM partners.

This is made possible, for those who buy a new laptop or desktop starting up this March 2007.with 26.10.2006 an OEM-version Windows XP pre-installed in order to offer these customers the option to boot with Vista Home Edition, Professional Edition, or Media Center Edition.
Is - this true message? If so, do the customers who bought this year earlier a Toshiba laptop, because they had to, also have a possibility to get this good?

    Hey John

I heard the same information on Vista credit notes.
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=2006-09-Vista-capable-en

More I read somewhere on the net that all those who buy a new Windows XP Pro up to March 2007 can get a Windows Vista more or less for free.
But I put t know exactly if it of right.

  • In a new laptop, what configuration is the best use of Adobe products?

It's time to replace my aging laptop, and frequently - use Adobe Illustrator, PhotoShop and InDesign products more often. I am open to any suggestion on setting up a new laptop. I been a PC user for always - supporters of Mac who believe a Mac to be 'better' when working with graphics have yet to convince me. I was always able to comfortably achieve my goals with my PC. I am open to be convinced, if there is really a valid reason.

A computer is not as fast as its slow component... how to maximize my new system?

You must take good care of your equipment.

If you are short of space, you should consider an iMac. You get a little more power (and an absolutely wonderful screen), in a pretty small format of all things considered.

If you want a Windows laptop, Asus, Lenovo and Dell XPS are all very good choices. This particular ASUS machine (the UX501VW Pro ZenBook) seems perfect. Big screen. A lot of power. And a MacBook Pro or Dell XPS with similar specs is $ 500 more.

My laptop was stolen. The CreativeSuite has been installed. I also have programs on my Mac work in the office. When I buy a new laptop, I have to install the programs on the third computer. Is this possible? What can I do?

    Hello

You can install and activate the perpetual software (purchased) two computers of the same type (mac or pc), as long as you use it on one at a time.

    For deactivation refer:- https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activate-deactivate-products.html

If you do not have access to your old computer because you have replaced a hard drive, upgraded your operating system to format your computer before you deactivate your software or your computer is dead, you can ask Adobe Support to help you disable from a machine, you cannot access. Have your serial number or Adobe ID ready, then contact us.

To load the software on another computer, download and install it as you did on the first computer. Then enter your serial number to activate it.

  • How to upgrade a G570 instead of buying a new laptop!

Hello guys, I'll try to help you turn your old laptop to a monster based on my experiences of real... I decided to upgrade my G570 instead of buying a new laptop a few months ago. The reason was I was satisfied with my laptop and new computer did not have the card I had in my mind. And of course the phones for my requests were around $2,000 cycle. I realized that the most important part of a PC is its disk hard when it comes to performance. I have been using PC for almost 17 years and I tried to upgrade my ram and hard drive all the time like 90% of normal pc users on Earth. A friend of mine who is an it engineer advised me to use SSD instead of HARD drive. So I looked on the net on how to put my HARD drive to SSD. You can do it on your own after this wonderful http://www.insidemylaptop.com/upgrading-memory-hard-drive-lenovo-g570-laptop/ guide I bought 2 cylinders 4 GB 1333 sodimm and changed the old Rams with them. Then I changed my HARD drive with a 120 GB SSD which is high enough for today's technology. The result is my windows 7 greets me in 7 seconds! I couldn't believe my eyes... Then I bought a DVD burner drive hard transformer support that you can easily find in the market. I put the dvd drive and put my old 500 gb HDD in there. Now, I have 2 hard drives on my G570... Now, I'm looking for ways to improve my i7 processor, although I don't need... Just to finish my work... In this way, I have a great portable quick spend about $250 instead of buying a new laptop for $ 1500-2500

Thanks Dave, I only tried to think different and it worked very well. After the purchase of 8 laptops I had something too important: buying a new pc is not always the best solution. Yes, we have a new system but each system comes with its own problems and sometimes I miss my old PC. I hope this will help some ppl to decide on what it takes to succeed on a budget. Furthermore, I spoke with technicans of lenovo support and I was told that this motherboard and cpu is optimized for the best performance for the upgrade of this processor will be able to ask possible break down of the motherboard so I won't upgrade my cpu. To be honest, I really don't need that at the moment. Love to all...

  • buy a new laptop HP

    Hello

If I buy a new computer HP laptop I get windows 8 preinstalled on your laptop or I have to buy the CDs of the window?

There are a lot of different new laptops HP.  They come with a variety of Windows versions - mostly from 8.1 and 10.

You should check the details of the laptop you want to see what OS versions are available.

And whatever one you choose, it will come already installed on the laptop.

  • Buy a new laptop

Hey guys, I don't know exactly where to post this question so I'm sorry if I chose the wrong advice. I'll buy a new laptop after finding that it would be quite expensive to upgrade my only current because it has a close-knit motherboard. I'm willing to pay a pretty penny for a new, but I want to assure you that I do so wisely. I definitely want to stay with a HP laptop, but I wondered what one to get. I read that the 6th generation intel core i7 is not only significantly different from the 7th generation, so if I could get a 6th that would diminish how much I spend. I also read upward on hard disks compared to SSD and the effectiveness of the two discs, as well as HD Graphics cards from intel with NVIDIA graphics cards. What I ask is essentially what should I pay attention to and be prepared to spend a little extra for because it will significantly improve the performance of the laptop. I use my laptop for school work, but I also like playing Sims on it has been ridiculously slow and current lag on my laptop with i3 processor. Thanks for any information you can give me.

I guess you are still waiting for a response to your last post. Maybe, I can add to the info already above.

Right, I've actually read these articles before and have found them very useful is, but I'm still uncertain on what I should take in a laptop. For example, with the games I'm going to do is it better for me to get a 1 TB hard drive, a 256 GB SSD or a hybrid of the two.

An SSD will give you performance much faster when you start the operating system from a program (especially games), video rendering, etc. etc. An SSD will give you the difference in most remarkable overall speed of any hardware upgrade.

Some laptops have the ability to have an SSD and HDD. It is the most ideal that you can load the operating system and programs on the SSD, then use the HARD drive for storage. I'd look for 250 GB or more in an SSD.

What graphics card should I use, an Intel HD Graphics 620 is going to be significantly different from a NVIDIA GeForce 940MX?

The integrated graphics integrated in the CPU will be never as powerful as a dedicated graphics card.

Embedded video works very well for an average as use watching a video, browsing the web, basic photoshop work.

The ability to make quick graphic intense games depends on what game you play, and play on which dedicated map settings you have.

Shopping for a car. Power/speed costs money. The more you spend, the faster the car.

A 740M nvidia does not have a very powerful graphics card.

For the high-end gaming, get the faster you can help.

The most recent nvidia 1060 m with dedicated memory would be a good start if play stuff like cod or battlefield. The Sims on the other hand, is not as demanding and you could come out with intel integrated. The Sims 4 also has a parameter to optimize it for the graphics of the laptop.

Integrated video is based entirely on the use of the computers for the memory Ram and is slower. Dedicated video has its own memory built in and does not need to ram system unless he runs.

    A Core i7 6th generation is significantly slower than a Core i7 7th generation?

The amount of system memory should I get?

There will always be many opinions on this type of subject. The biggest difference that I've read about this is that the 7th gen will have much better video handling 4 k, if you use the built in graphics of the CPU.  Otherwise, it's not a big gain in overall performance. But the latest models of PC usually have the latest hardware, so no worries anyway.

7th generation CPU will only work Windows 10, no downgrading to Win7.

Most of the gaming laptops will come with 8 GB of memory minimum. Who should handle most everything you do, except if you plan to make multimedia processing such as photoshop, video files high-end rendering in Premier Pro, etc.   If that's what you do, then more is better.

IF you are willing to spend money on a higher end game system, take a look at HP Omen.

Its configurable so that you can upgrade the hardware on the basic model to purchase.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Hope that answers your questions.

Hey! I am looking for a new laptop in the order of € 1200, maybe a little more. I'm editing 1080 p (sometimes at 60 fps), but in AE I want to change the templates and create an animation cool intros. Nothing super advanced yet but I want it to be smooth, because on my laptop today, it's super slow (read at 3-12 fps in AE). I also want to Premiere Pro to be faster, especially when I add effects like stabilization deform and it takes too long to make. Sometimes I use hearing, prelude, Photoshop, Illustrator, but especially the first and AE. I want to do a few 4K changes in the future, but that might be too much for my budget. Or not? I downloaded iTunes on a new laptop computer and he allowed. All of a sudden, I can't sync my iPhone 6. What can I do?

If your iOS device does not appear in iTunes, try the following:

    1. Open Control Panel > Device Manager
    2. Plug in your device
    3. Locate Bus USB Controllers > Apple Mobile Device USB Driver.
It is also possible that the device may appear under imaging devices, portable devices or other devices or as a device USB of MTB.
    4. Right-click and select software update of the driver...
    5. Click Browse my computer for driver software
    6. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Apple Mobile Device Support\Drivers or
      C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
    7. Click on let me pick from a list of drivers for devices on my computer
    8. Click on Apple Mobile Device USB Driver
    9. Click Next, then close and exit the Device Manager

To step 3 above, open the Device Manager. Expand one of the articles that are listed.

    • USB Bus controllers
    • Imaging devices
    • Portable devices
    • Other devices

Plug in the appliance. You should hear the telltale Windows sound device connection and a Division must acquire a new entry. This should be your device. It cannot be labelled properly at this point. If you do not hear a suspicious noise cable damaged.

Or try If iTunes does not your iPad, iPhone or iPod - Apple Support Apple version of the above opinion.

If not try a complete tear down and rebuild iTunes in accordance with the resolution of the problems with iTunes for Windows updates. 64-bit users might also try the build replacing iTunes for Windows (64-bit-for older video cards) which is sometimes a useful workaround.

Or try to go back to the last version of iTunes that has worked for you. See the programs installation of iTunes to download links. If you roll back to 12.4.0.119 to 12.3.3.17 or 12.3.2.35, for example, then you will also need restore the database of the library in the manner described in the empty/corrupted after upgrade/crash iTunes library. The tip makes suggestions to reintroduce recent purchases, so at worst, you lose a few meters or a newly created playlist.

  • New for synchronization, I have set up the sync account in my new laptop and linked to my main computer; now worry Sync will eliminate information on the primary computer. What should I do?

Knowing nothing about the sync but enthusiastic about its benefits, I followed the directions for the implementation of a synchronization account in my new laptop. Then I realized that I should start with my main computer that has all the data I want to transfer to the new. However, Firefox won't let me set up the sync account in my main computer because it says I already have an account. He gave me a code to connect the main computer to the new, and I did. Now I'm afraid to sync for fear that this will eliminate the info in my main computer rather than transfer them to the new. Is this true, and if so, how can I do it again and get Firefox to establish the sync account in my main computer?
