by aligning my cartridge

I have an old HP 1040 Fax/copy machine and I just put a new cartridge.  It must be aligned and nowhere in my manual it tells me how to do this.  I know there is a way, don't know what to do when the screen "Menu/Tools/align cartridge rises and he made a print-out showing the lines are not aligned.»  So here's where I'm stumped.  Can someone tell me how to fix it?

Thank you

Hey pslane. When you installed the cartridge did you press 1 on the keypad to indicate that you have installed a new cartridge? When you press 1, it will begin the process of alignment. You can go back and redo the steps you did you install the cartridge to return to this menu.

1 turn the printer

2. open the control panel

3. lift the cover of the cartridge compartment

4. press the button of cartridge access cartridge to be accessible transport on road

5. remove the cartridge

6. gently reinsert the cartridge until you hear a click

7. close the cartridge compartment cover

8. close Control Panel

9. press "1" to indicate a new cartridge

10. an alignment page should now print and provide you with different lines of numbers

11. the number on the keypad of the straight line and then press OK

12 done!

Let me know if that answers your question

    Hi @xandux,

I see by your post printing went on the right side, you tried a new cartridge and have the same results. I can help you today.

I would like to do a hard reset to see if that will solve the problem.
Let the printer and disconnect the printer cable and the wall socket for 60 seconds.
Reconnect the power cable to the output of the printer and the wall, and not a surge protector.
This ensures that the printer is full on and can help this situation.

Follow the steps is this document to see if it will help resolve faded printing.

    Missing, faded or dull colors.

Print the self-test on the printer hardware to see if it's a hardware or software problem.

    You use genuine HP cartridges?
    What are the ink levels?

Let me know the results of the test pages of the document.

    Good day!

  • printer all in one psc 2210xi while trying to align the cartridge HP (Vista) "paper mismatch".

I changed a cartridge and try to align the cartridge but keeps paper be ejected with message "paper mismatch" on the front panel of the printer.  Same paper and size I always use but I changed out, unplugged and reset the printer and made sure pc the printer settings are compatible with the paper type and size as well.  Still no luck.  I know that this printer is older but it was gently used

In fact, I had already read the news you mentioned me and it did not apply to my situation of paper.  I was using standard letter size paper and had not changed type and size.  What I found useful is a blog that mentioned by changing the properties of the printer; printing preferences; type.  I got the paper type "automatic" and I changed to "plain paper" as the recommended blog.  After that, I was able to align the ink cartridges and print as usual.  I still have no idea what caused the problem in the first place since the previous setting was what I always used.  Thanks for your interest.

I pressed 'OK' and a page was fueled and the printer made looks like fine print, 'impression' was displayed and then he stopped and the same "Align" message was displayed.  I went to this cycle several times and was never able to print an alignment page.  I can't get rid of the message and therefore I can't use other functions; scan, fax or copy.  I can always print pages of the computer, however.  Does anyone know how to reset or escape from this situation?  Help, please.  Thank you.

  • How align you the print on a HP CP1518ni cartridges? Running Mac OS 10.6.8.

I have a HP Color LaserJet CP1518ni.  Clearly, the magenta cartridge is printing out of alignment, based on the results displayed on the Diagnostics page I printed.  I am on Mac OS 10.6.8 and cannot find anywhere how to align the cartridges of printers.  How can I solve this problem?

Okay, sorry, I don't have my CP1518 with me to test.

You could remove all the toner cartridges, reinsert and see if it an alignment.

  • Aligning the print cartridge HP PSC 1500 series printer

I just installed a new ink cartridge and try to align. When I open the HP PSC 1500 Setup page, it gives me the option "align cartridge". When I click on it it opens a dialog box titled 'printer properties '. There is no information on how to align the cartridge.

Thanks for your reply. It didn't really solve my problem. As I've mentioned before, I tried to get the 'how' info from the HP PSC 1500 series control page that displays a link to "aligning the print cartridge. By clicking on this link opens a dialog box that has nothing to do with the alignment of the cartridges. It was not very useful, but eventually, I remembered what I had to do was insert the alignment sheet and press "scan."

When a new cartridge is installed the PSC 1350 will automatically print an alignment page.  This page must be loaded on the scanner glass and the "scan" button pressed to complete alignment.  It does not require the computer see this page for more information.
