By clicking on an elements of the taskbar (or on the Start Menu) ask me each time if I really want to open this file. How to stop this?

When I click on the item to taskbar Windows 7 to Firefox (or on the Start Menu, too), he asks me each time if I really want to open this file:

... \ick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar\Mozilla Firefox.lnk

I say YES and it opens... until next time, when he asks again.

But a double click on the shortcut of Firefox on my desktop doesn't only!

I tried unpin and re-pinnning program without success.

I tried to create the pinning of the original exe or shortcut on the desktop or the StartMenu option.

All have them!  And it has worked perfectly well for years, but I had to reinstall FF today and now it goes.

How can I stop this annoying feature?

I found a column that actually addressed this and he said to go to the CMD prompt and enter:

ICACLS '%programdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start start\program' /Setintegritylevel (OI) (CI) Medium

Tried without success.

Another site told me to uncheck the box that says "ask before opening" but there is no such box on the pop-up.

Maybe because it's a .lnk instead of a .exe?  I do not know.

Please do not suggest that I use IE or Chrome instead.  I use IE much... but there are some things that Firefox is just the right solution for.

Thank you!

Hi MiloInSanDiego

The response of the creation of a new user account was because after the steps mentioned by Babu, you said in the post on Jan 3 that you get this message 'Do you want to allow the following program to make changes on this computer' like this could be due to the virus.

By creating a new user account, if there is a corruption of the profile by a virus, it will be there in the new profile. This is the reason for the creation of a new user profile.

If you are facing problems with Firefox, I suggest you to post the question in this forum for better support.

  • Impossible to display the items in the start menu

Home Premium SP2, IE8. Dell laptop.

I must have tried mistakenly and unknowingly add an element in the Menu start (one on the right).
Now, if I click on the Start button, I have a message saying that some elements of the Start Menu may not be displayed, and that I should change to a higher resolution.
Here I am on the highest resolution 1280 x 800 pixels
    Color is set to 32-bit.
Screen refresh rate is set to 60 Hertz.

System Restore is out of the question that I had made a diskcleanup and deleted all the points except the one under restoration.
I can't figure out what I wanted to add to the Start Menu.
    Anyway to find out?

    t-4-2

I almost checked everything and I do not get this message (but I'm at 1920 x 1200 pixels).  The thing is, you have probably really all these elements if account required to limiting the size, you'll just need to identify the items you really need/want and uncheck the others until the message disappears.  Most of these items can be added as shortcuts to the office or the menu all programs for options is a click on Show desktop and clicking on the option instead of a click on start and click on the option (even two clicks so be it - more if you put the shortcuts in all programs rather than on the desktop).  If you are having problems, create the appropriate shortcuts, just post back exactly what are the options that you want as shortcuts and we will see if we can help you (if you still need that).

As much as what option you want to add, I have no idea and no way of knowing.  You must include only what you actually use frequently.  Don't forget, there are other ways to do all these options, even if they are not in the Start Menu, you can still get where you want to go (just may take a little longer).

The only other choice is to upgrade your video card so that it supports a higher resolution (assuming one is available that is compatible with the rest of your computer and its devices - in particular, the monitor and motherboard - and also compatible with your version of Vista).  But this seems a high price to pay just to be able to see a few buttons in the Start Menu.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Why are most of my grayed out icons and my programs do not appear in all programs on the start menu?

My computer crashed the other day. I returned with a system restore. I have scanned for viruses. Now most of my icons (computer desktop and folders) is grayed out. When I click on "all programs" in the start menu, none is listed even though they are still on my computer and still work.

    Hi homeWJ,

    Method 1

See the Microsoft article below to download and install the fix, check if it helps.

When you point to "Programs" on a Windows XP-based computer, the program list does not appear, or the list of programs is empty

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/941248

    Method 2

If the previous step fails, then analyze and remove any malware or computer virus infections and check if that helps.

  • I can't bring up the start menu. I get a message (windows/System 32 is missing or damaged. I don't have a cd

What can I do to bring up the start menu, so I can reinstall windows xp (diskless)

    Hello

This can be done without the Windows XP CD. You need to fix and then you can check out this link:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/307545

For your Windows XP CD, which would have been provided by the PC manufacturer. Sometimes they have a partition on the hard disk that contains the recovery software and can be viewed during the start up. You should check with the manufacturer of PC for more information about the recovery options. Also if they did not provide a CD sometimes they offer the recovery media for sale.
