By default, Firefox spellchecker bad language
I've read many threads of the forum on this subject, but none of them solved my problem.
The spellchecker of Firefox highlights almost every word I type - I discovered that its spellchecker language is set to French.
So, in the options, I deleted all the dictionaries as English. The problem persisted.
I think the problem might be that I lived in France when I originally installed Firefox - even if I chose the version English and my computer is in English. I am now back in the United Kingdom. I downloaded the English UK version and installed as an update. That did not work.
I also completely uninstalled the app (I thought), restarted the computer and reinstalled the English version - but when I opened it, all my favorites etc were exactly as before and the problem persists.
Anyone offer a solution? I really need the spell check function and I really want to come back to Chrome...
I use Firefox 41.0 on a Windows 7 laptop.
Thanks in advance.
Hello again. My problem is solved! I found that I could right-click on email gmail window and select the language here - it was fixed in French rather than English. So now, everything seems to work very well. Thanks a lot for your help.

(Newish laptop so I'm not really familiar with operating systems (Win 8.1 I think) and more) Initially, my BBC homepage opened OK in Firefox, but after a period, he began to view a text version. This can be temporarily cured by restoring the default Firefox (Firefox / help / troubleshooting information / restore Firefox) but as soon as I click a link on the page of the BBC, it is up to the display of the text. Is there a way I can solve this problem. Other sites seem to be working properly.
It's a problem of missing style sheet. If you have modules like Adblock Plus installed, first of all, try to start Firefox with the disabled modules and check if the problem persists.
Otherwise,.
- Hold down the ALT key and press V to open the view menu. Open the submenu Style Page and make sure that "Basic Page Style" is selected.
- Clear the cache.
- Remove the cookies from the site in question.
- If the problem persists, see

by default Firefox search engine
Hello, I have problems with my default firefox engine. I know how to change my default engine. I have change to Google as my default search engine in the browser bar. But every time when I restart the firefox, the default engine is automatically changed to 'firefox search engine' and using Yahoo to find things. This phenomenon has happened all of a sudden one day, and then continue to occur daily. I would like to know if there are solutions? Or I need to download Google Chrome to resolve it?
It's fun to try other browsers. But even Google Chrome is infected by pirates of research from time to time. You will see on their forums when users install free software bundles containing options unworthy of trust.
Since there is no 'Firefox search engine', it is certainly suspicious. Here's my method to track down and clean the bad Add - ons and other hijackers. I know it seems long, but it's really not that bad.
(For Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10;) XP is a little different)
(1) open the Control Panel, uninstall a program. After the loading of the list, click on the column heading "installed on" to group infections, I mean additions by date. This can help the undisclosed items bundle smoker who snuck out with some software, you have agreed to install. Beware of everything that you don't recognize / remember, since malware often uses sounding names important or innocent to discourage you remove. Out as much garbage as possible here.
(2) open Firefox page modules using either:
- CTRL + SHIFT + a
- "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons
- in the Windows "Run" dialog box, type or paste
firefox.exe "about:addons"
In the left column, click on Plugins. Set essential and unrecognized plugins 'never enable '.
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, in case of doubt, disable (or delete, if possible) not recognized and unwanted extensions. All extensions are optional; the troublemaker is perhaps not obvious from the name.
Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.
Any improvement?
(3) you can search the rest of problems with scanning/cleaning tools listed in our technical support article: Troubleshooting Firefox problems caused by malware. These scanners on request are free and take a long time to run. If they end quickly, especially if they require the payment you have a serious infection. I suggest the specialty forums listed in the article in this case.
At this point, Firefox keeps your default settings between sessions? If this is not... a little more to think about.

I'm doing my default Firefox browser. I can't go to tools/options. Using XP.
- Press F10, or press the Alt key to bring up the 'Menu Bar' temporarily if the menu bar is hidden.
- Use "Firefox > Options" instead of "tools > Options" If the menu bar is hidden.
Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance/themes).
- Makes no changes on the start safe mode window.

How to get back to the default firefox title bar look?

This is what my title bar looks like. I do not know what is the problem, but that bar title of theme color that bothers me and I want that the default firefox title bar back (gray colored uniformly who hangs completely behind unused space in the tab bar) as one that is displayed in the link given below.
Title bar with uniform colored background
Thanking in anticipation.
You can do that on Windows XP. Your second screenshot comes from Vista and there you can have it like that. In XP you will always have the title bar as shown in your first screenshot.

By default Firefox for .zip files is empty.
Hello. You may recognize my user name as is the guy is constantly plagued by problems with Firefox. The last blunder of the browser are:
I downloaded a NZB file and went to ' open with: others ' and selected GetNZB. From this point, the selection box set automatically highlight GetNZB, although WinRar was the default program. It prevents me from using WinRar, but I had to take the time to choose, which previously was useless, so I found it extremely irritating. I decided to uninstall GetNZB to solve the problem.
Guess what? There can be no. Now, the box is EMPTY by default. I got the add-on "save file in" so I removed it. It made no difference. I followed a tutorial to restore download actions. It made no difference. There is absolutely no sense whatever, and I should just be able to open with WinRar with a single click.
I'm sorry if I have his rude, but years dumped on technology has taken its toll.
Well, I apologize. I think that I thought about it. I had to remove mimeTypes.rdf and it seems to work now.

How to remove the default Firefox 38.0.1 yahoo search (Macintosh)
How can I remove the automatic reset of Firefox for the terrible yahoo search engine? I want Google as default search engine. Here's what I've tried:
a. choose Google over yahoo and then remove the yahoo of preferences: Firefox always springs back to yahoo.
b. download the app 'Google by default'. It worked on previous versions of Firefox, before V 38.0.1. But it seems that the commercial interests behind now bypassed Firefox that, as well, because that 'Default Google' application now no longer works.
c. erasing and then re - install the "Google by default" application. No improvement. If there is no way to deal with this, so I'm dumping FF and switch to Google Chrome.
Hello, I am wary of some of your extensions, please Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:
- Click the menu button
click Help
then select restart with disabled modules.
If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:
- On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
- On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
- On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
(you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."
If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.
To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

Why can't I add certificates on the default firefox profile?
I use the NSS certutil command to add a certificate profiles users on OS X (10: 8-10) running Firefox ESR 31.4.
There is no problem in adding the cert for the existing user profiles, but I want to add so that new users who automatically connect to will have the cert installed.
If I understand correctly, I should be able to install the cert to a default profile in the application then will come out to new users when they run FF for the first time, but this was not the case in my tests. I've been running the util of cert, as root, on the directory ' / Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/browser/defaults/profile'.
The command ("/ opt/local/bin/nss-certutil - a-i mycert.cer - n"My Cert"t 'C', d ' / Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/defaults/profile '"') runs without error and the place three files in there: cert8.db, signons3.txt secmod.dbWhen I login as a new user on the system, however, they don't have cert. What Miss me?
It turns out it was a permissions problem, the files created by the certutil command in the folder obtained permissions default only root given to them. I opened and it works fine.

Why Yahoo is now the default Firefox search engine?
I'm curious to know why Mozilla decided to move the engine of Firefox default to Yahoo search, without initially to provide an explanation to users. Specifically, how does this change benefits users? »
Hello ariel, please fill in this question. the reasons to change the default search provider in firefox are explained in https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2014/11/19/promoting-choice-and-innovation-on-the-web/

By default Firefox screen fonts distorted after the last update.
I got the update for Firefox 33.0.3 the other day, and since the 'default' screen fonts are not the same. Text various (on her "ask your question... ("support page I am on now, for example) a registration that is weak or appear"broken ". When I open the same page in Internet Explorer, it looks very good. Any ideas, please?
Hey, I found it... and fixed it! Windows has a feature called Clear of Type technology. Their description is a bit vague; of course, it's a kind of liaison between Windows and the graphics controller. Someone on another forum mentioned clear Type part of an independent issue, so in desperation I followed his instructions and found the "secret switch. Of course, it was transformed into 'off' (a "normative", actually), and once I lit it all now seems just the way it did a few days ago. My K & E 'Drafting Table green' always came not with Firefox, but it is normal; at least I can read the text now.

On some sites the text (font) seems wrong and nearly broke.
Reload the Web site using Ctrl + F5 will correct the text, but recharge using F5 only make the wrong text appear again.
Here's an example of how the text looks like https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11298382/ff-text-fail.png
On the left side is the 'broken' text, on the right side is the correct text.
http://arduino.cc/en/Reference/ASCIIchart textSearching I found a suggestion that cost disabling hardware acceleration might help, but I already tried this suggestion with no luck.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to fix the problem and to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

I want to continue to use Firefox as my default browser. However several sites that I regularly use only support the 'other' browser. Is it possible to identify these non friendly sites and have them open in different browser?
Swardwell wrote:

Not really. Some obsolete sites may have a "Better known with Internet Explorer" note somewhere, but even those who might very well work in Firefox.

Two of these databases of site are 64 KB and io_temp.sqlite files. I want to know how they were created and what information is that are stored there. I know that my boyfriend goes to the website of bovada much, but want to know if he has information of personal connection stored for two of these sites. I know that they are not cookies because I saw the list of cookies and delete the and these files are still there. I really want to know if the only way that the sites Web could be in the folder because he saved intentionally information stored on these sites and if not, then why they are part of a roaming profile?
Hello, I could not find any documentation on what the data in the profile or an io_temp.sqlitefolder - file would do in firefox (perhaps it was a first version of dom storage or indexeddb).
If you have questions about the use of these sites by your boyfriend, you should probably talk with him directly about this, instead of finding an answer in this way...
