By pressing "continue" on a prompt encryption guard opens a new tab which tries to load a page, but did not. It makes the current page to sit and not to load the next page as it should.
So basically I end up with two tabs that do nothing.

My choice of the opening page is 'white', but instead of a blank page, I get an ad full very boring page for YAHOO. I use not YAHOO, largely because it's a rude such nuisance.
I want my home page to be empty, and everytime I open a new tab I want it to be empty, until I select the web, I want to see.
Hello bobdi2, you can manually change the page that opens on each new tab.
enter Subject: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears), search for the preference named browser.newtab.url and double-click on and change its value to about: empty (the default would be of about: newtab which shows photos and links to your most visited pages).

Why open a new tab when I click on a page on google?

If I click on the + to open a tab, it happens to a browser window which I don't want. I've changed the 'home page' what I want, which doesn't seem to work, even when I restarted Firefox.
How can I change the screen that is displayed when I select a new tab? Thank you very much in advance for your help!
A new tab opens by default like a Virgin tab (topic: empty).
If this isn't the case, then an extension has changed this behavior.

What is malware, or is this page related to Mozilla?
I'm glad you found what was causing the problem. Can you post the name of the extension that caused the problem and mark this message as the solution so that users can quickly find what extension to remove if they have the same problem?
Unfortunately, some extensions are known to cause disturbances of the navigation of the user experience. For example, see the article: delete a toolbar which took in charge your search Firefox or the home page. At the end of the day, installation of extensions is like installing other applications on your computer - do not forget to get a reliable source and remove it quickly if it isn't something suspicious. There are other extensions to backup Firefox as well in case something irreparable happens, see FEBE and OPIE.

I use FireFTP on this laptop for a couple of years. He disappeared once before and found in Tools/Web Developer. This morning he was gone - I hadn't used for a few weeks. I tried to download the add-on gain and I told her that it is installed, but I still don't see it. I also installed the FireFTP button that appears to the left of my tabs. When I click it opens a new tab called chrome://fireftp/content/fireftp.xul, but is not displayed the usual page of FireFTP
You can check if it is disabled.
Orange Firefox button or classic menu Tools > Modules > Extensions
The extensions are listed in two groups, with those activated on top, then the disabled those below. If it is disabled, you can enable it. Or, if she says it's not compatible with Firefox 11, you can see the updates.
A little luck?

Everytime I open a new tab, I'm greeted by this page
http://blog.Mozilla.org/UX/files/2012/05/Firefox-beta-13-redesigned-About_Home-Page1.PNG?128c42
Is a small problem for me, because when I want the cursor at the beginning in the adressbar. So, if for example, I opened a new page, I type in imdb.com I receive directly on imdb.
Today, however, with the Home tab firefox screen. I have to do a google search for imdb.
A small problem perhaps, but enough to be annoying.
Is there a way to move the settings or something similar, and keep the cursor in the address bar after you open a new tab?
Hello
If you only want the new tabs do not have home page, you can change it by going in your Subject: config page and replacing "browser.newtab.url" Subject: vacuum. For me at least, if I open a new tab on a white page, the cursor remains the address bar.
In order to change your Firefox Configuration please follow the following steps:
- In the address bar, type Subject: config
and press enter. The subject: config "this might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
- Click on I'll be careful, I promise! to keep the comments: config page.
If you also want to change your home page to a blank page, you can do so in virtue:
- (on Windows) Tools > Options > general, or
- Menu
> Options (preferences on Mac and Linux) > general
Then change the dropdown to "when Firefox starts:"so that it is set to 'Show a blank page'.»
Note that you can continue to do research on the awesome bar and search bar where you want to do a Google search.
Does this solve the problem? Let us know.

When I open a new tab, I get redirected to a page that is not google. I want to start with google and go from there.
You can check the browser.newtab.url pref on the topic: config page and set this pref to your preferred the new tab page.
- the new default tab with the tiles page is on: newtab
- the default homepage is Subject: Home
- to a blank page, you can use Subject: vacuum
The pref browser.newtabpage.enabled must be set to true to use the page defined through browser.newtab.url like the new tab page.
See this article on the page tab (topic: newtab):
Your list of details of the system shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time you start Firefox.
The user.js file is present than if you or another software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be here. You can check its contents with a text editor (right click: 'Open with'; do not double-click).
The user.js file is read whenever Firefox is started and initializes the preferences to the specified value in this file, so the preferences set via user.js can be changed temporarily for the current session. You can remove the user.js file if you do not create this file yourself.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder currently in use:
- Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: see file (Linux: open the directory;) Mac: View in the Finder)

When I open a new tab I see Google search smooth with large beautiful Firefox logo on the top center of research, and makes me automatically type in this research. Is there a way to automatically enter address bar when a new tab is opened? Just moved to Firefox and it's quite annoying.
Thanks to all the advice.
-KarlLooks like you have set browser.newtab.url to Subject: House which opens the default home page in each new tab. The simplest thing to do is to reset this preference so that instead of the new tab page:
- Type of topic: config in the address bar and press ENTER.
- To ignore the warning, press the big button "I'll be careful, I promise!
- In the search box, paste browser.newtab.url
- In the search results, click browser.newtab.url , and then choose reset.
Otherwise,.
- Custom installation tab.
- Open the modules (Ctrl + Shift + A Manager; Mac: Command + shift + A), then the Extensions category.
- Next to the new custom label, click on the Options button.
- The value of any page you want to open in each new tab (topic: newtab is the value default; about: home is the default home page) and make sure that "Focus in the URL bar" is not checked.

Need to restore the function of the most visited sites listed when you open a new tab
I have checked through my modules and cannot find the solution. I read the answers that go to state the topic: config. I can't find that either. I just want my most visited sites when opening a new tab feature restored. Help, please.
Enter about: config in the address bar, press ENTER. Accept the warning. Search browser.newtabpage.enabled, right click, click on reset. Search browser.newtab.url, right click, click on reset. It should work now.
