by using the Simulator on Eclipse
I have been using eclipse for the coding and packaging, this is a nice tool. -for debugging, I used the Blackberry JDE. Currently running the Simulator in the BB JDE is not complicated but when multiple API versions has to be tested as well as having a production version and a version of development running the number of workspaces increases. I therefore decided to take a go at the Simulator in Eclipse. After an hour I had it almost working but finally ends and "Device error - Blackberry Smartphone Simulator", "the catastrophic Assertion failure". If the BB JDE Simulator is "screwdriver", the eclipse is a double "Swiss Army Knife". So many settings and not a lot of explanation (that I found). Is there a 'manual' on the use of the Simulator on Eclipse somewhere?
For example. In the BB JDE, I put a flag on a module is a module system, and must be loaded initially. Not found in Eclipse. There are a lot of other parameters. I want just a basic configuration which works like the BB JDE. The main application is a Midlet and my modules are still running listeners
It is a mistake of the BlackBerry smartphone itself Simulator (Windows application), not simulated applications.
Please, try the following:
- Click the Project menu in Eclipse.
- Choose BlackBerry-> own Simulator...
- Select all, and then click OK.
This will reset all the BlackBerry smartphone simulators to their default state. Now repackage and run your application again.

Problem when launching an application in the Simulator with Eclipse
When I try to launch my app in the Simulator in Eclipse, I get the following error:
An internal error occurred during: "Android-my-app launch"
com/android/sdklib/xml/ManifestData
I guess there is something my manifesto, but my app works fine on the Simulator Android and the market and the actual hardware. Also, I could check my apk online and everything was fine. Is there something that I am missing?
Thank you!
I solved this problem by installing beta Plugin for Eclipse version BB.
Here: https://developer.blackberry.com/android/documentation/install_plugin_prerequisites_1895476_11.html I read that they suggest to use the beta rev 20 ADT plugin. I installed and now everything works for me.
Here's the URL for Eclipse:
https://bdsc.webapps.BlackBerry.com/Android/downloads/eclipseplugin/beta/
Try this solution. Good luck!

Application created using the BB for Eclipse plugin does not run in the Simulator
Hi all!
I created an application using BB plugin for Eclipse. I try to run in the Simulator, but it never gets displayed (the application icon is never shown). However, I create a "Hello World" sample, which works perfectly in the Simulator. My application in Eclipse has never shows all files .cod or .jad, there only have files .jdp and .rapc
My doesn´t app have encoding problems or errors of any kind (at least not displayed in the view of error).
TIP: I have copy - paste code in different applications, is that a problem?
I tried:
- Restart Eclipse,
- Configuration of active building of blackberry,
- Cleaning of the project,
- Creation of the project,
- Reinstall Eclipse,
but none of this seems to work.
Can someone help me please?
Best regards
Juan.
Hi all!
In the event that a person gets the same problem, I mentioned. I found the solution: it turns out that I had a very high class with a lot of code on it and that s the reason why the application does not get launched into the Simulator. What I did that I shared this class on the 4different classes each managing different parts of the code and now it works perfectly.
Hope someone is enjoying this, cause I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what the problem was.
Best regards
Juan.

Configuration of the Simulator with Eclipse
HI -.
I use version JDE 4.5 with the Eclipse editor. When I run the Simulator, Simulator of 8300
turn on and I see my app.
How to set up so that another Simulator is launched? I tried to look at some options, but
It was not clear. I didn't see any documentation on this, but I could have missed the right one.
If anyone has seen elsewhere, please point me in the right direction.
There are .bat simulators subdirectory files. Their launch shows the right Simulator, so I need
find out how Eclipse knows which Simulator to launch.
Thank you
Amod
To view the documentation on that, click on the Help menu of Eclipse and choose summary help. Then expand 'BlackBerry JDE plug-in for Eclipse Guide', expand 'Configuring the BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator' and then click 'Specify a BlackBerry Smartphone Simulator for a specific type of BlackBerry smartphone'.

Location using the simulator tests
I use Eclipse to develop and test a "Hello World" application I've included resources files for English and the French understand and test the localization of the application plan. I am however stuck, test the application with the french properties.
I tried to configure a new profile in the simulator by providing "/ local en =" as a parameter of the command line in the hope that the Blackberry Simulator will use French as the default language and so the French beam will be used for rendering the user interface. There is a generation of application step I'm missing to get the location missing?
Any help to test the localization will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hello
I use Simulation Interface Toolkit to target a controller built in Simulink on a PXI target. I used the SIT connection manager to generate the driver screws I had to make some changes in the screw driver specifically Read.vi IO. I made the changes and the entire application runs without error. But the changes are not getting in the functioning of the application, essentially when I load the thing on PXI and run it, it contains exactly as it was before behaiving I made these changes. Some how the changes I make to the Read.vi of e/s are not begin day somewhere in the top vi driver.
Could someone help me with this please.
Eliane.
Hi Justin_P,
Thank you very much for the reply. Solved the problem. What you're saying, that's certainly true, but I do not use the project.
The problem was that whenever it makes a change one driver that saw VI top-level driver must be opened and saved again. This opening and registration links the pilot with new changed correctly VI and then everything works fine.
Thanks again.
Eliane.

Cannot close the Simulator under Eclipse Plug In
Just migrated my JDE application plugin Eclipse environment. App compiles fine and works fine. However, when I run the Simulator under I can never get the Simulator to close. I actually kill Eclipse to stop the Simulator.
Windows 7-64, Eclipse Gallileo, taken at point 1.1.
Any ideas?
It's because you run it on a 64-bit Windows 7. This problem has been resolved in an updated version. I don't know if it fixes each Simulator, but it seems to have fixed the OS 5 Simulator.
Go to help > install new software.
If you have the site set up (http://www.blackberry.com/go/eclipseUpdate/3.5/java) update, check 'hide elements that are already installed.
Update "BlackBerry Java Plugin". To date, the most recent is marked 16/04/2010.

Unable to connect to the Simulator (169.254.0.1)
I installed the new Simulator available for VMware Player and have successfully startet it. (Windows 7)
The Simulator have internet access (I launched a web page in the browser)
But I can't connect to the device either by ping it in cmd command prompt or the
plugin in eclipse.
It is said in the Simulator: use development mode ON and development addresses 169.254.0.1
Any ideas?
The value in the security setting is the IP address that will be used when a PlayBook is connected via USB. You can connect the debugger using the WiFi IP address or IP address of the USB device.
In the case of the Simulator, the USB connection is not possible if you need to connect using the simulated WiFi connection.
The icon on the home screen shows all of the IP addresses, you can use to connect to (it will show WiFi and USB IP addresses if both are available).

Project failed and the project of packaging is not loaded to the Simulator
Hello
Whenever I run the bb Simulator on my Eclipse, it always gives me "Packaging project failed" and my project sometimes appears in the downloads on the blackberry Simulator (even it is not in the package), but most of the time, it says "Module not found" or it is not loaded in the Simulator.
What is the cause of this problem and how to fix it? Thank you.
I use the Simulator to 9700 with OS 5.
Hi all
I just tried to restart my laptop and it works all of a sudden. I still don't know what the problem was, since there is no error before packing 'failed '. I hope that never, it will fail again.
Thanks to all for the replies!

Cod files does not not in the Simulator!
First of all, I must say that development of BlackBerry is probably the most frustrating form of development that I met.
I can't get my HelloWorld application to run on the Simulator.
I have successfully built the cod file using eclipse and one build.xml.
I copied all the output files (including cod file) in the Simulator installation directory manually. It did not work.
So I tried to load the java program directly using the Simulator via file > load Java program...
None of these methods work. There is no icon in the downloads folder. My request is not listed in the list of the Application Simulator, BUT he is listed in the list of the Module.
operating system: Vista
JDE version: 4.6.0
IDE: eclipse
It's maybe a stupid question, but still: your application has an enty point?

Write Debug Output to the media under the Simulator map
I'm testing my application using the Simulator with the eclipse plugin (using the simulated device 9700). Simply, I can't open a file. Here is the code I use:
try { // filename = "file:///SDCard/debug.txt" fileConnection = (FileConnection) Connector.open(fileName); } catch (IOException e) { System.out.println("Could not create " + fileName); e.printStackTrace(); } if (fileConnection != null) { try { OutputStream out = fileConnection.openOutputStream(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } }
Are there settings specific Simulator which must be defined and who could stop me from writing on the SD card in the device? I put 'Use PC file to SD Card file system' and with the path on my PC where I want the file resides. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The file exists in your file? If it isn't, your code does not indicate that you create a file.
So when you try to open an output stream on a file that does not exist, that would not work.
Steps to follow:
-Check if a file exists
-Yes: Open stream and write to the file
-No: fileConnection.create)
-Open the stream and write to the file
PS Don't forget to close the flow of data and file connection when you are finished.

How to set different Simulator in eclipse?

Hello
First download 9800 Simulator, then installation of Simulator 9800 and just copy this folder (---> Research In Motion BlackBerry 9800 Simulator).
Go to the BlackBerry configuration for example eclipse plugins(D:\eclipse-BlackBerry-6.0\plugins\net.rim.ejde.componentpack7.0.0_7.0.0.33\components\simulator\(Paste here) smart phone BlackBerry 9800)
Restart your Eclipse and right click Select your project-->--> Run as---> Run--> Simulator---> Simulator configuration choose installed.

It is even possible to define such an application to run at startup? If so how would you do it?
I've compiled a program using the API and eclipse distribution OR and can run Eclipse or by running while SSH in the myRIO. Is the only document I could find about this one: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/B37FA04A1CB84B6C862571A30060EF03?opendocument&Submitted&&...
The link is a little outdated, so I'm not sure of the relevance, it is today. I changed the lines of lvrt.conf to:
RTTarget.ApplicationPath=/c/ni-rt/startup/startup.rtexe
RTTarget.LaunchAppAtBoot = TrueNone of the settings seem to do anything. I also tried to run the program as a script using rc.local which does not seem to be used in the same way as it is in Ubuntu. My compiled pogram does not include the .rtexe extension although I can add it later that might not be the same.
I made sure that startup programs 'disable' has been disabled on the Server Web myRIO.
Thank you
