By using the system restore before computer restart after updating Windows 10...

I chose to try the upgrade of Windows 10 on my laptop primary.  Because of the long installation times, I started late in the evening then followed finishing (or almost) the update the next morning.  Until I sat down to 'start' I spoke with a friend who had just completed an installation of two heavy day of problems.    Although I am good enough to solve computer OS and software installation problems, I was very reluctant to go forward.   After serious soul searching I elected continue to use Windows 7, I don't really like.

That's why I chose to use the system restore before restarting my computer needed complete Windows Update 10.  I chose the previous restore point before the update of windows 10 and ran through the entire procedure and then restarted the computer after the restore point.

Everything worked fine and I was able to do the foregoing... Except that I can't do updates of security that have been uninstalled.   The Windows Update screen repeat "you must restart your computer...". "with the reboot by holding the active button.

This window doesn't go away even after reboot, and I can not "check for Updates".

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to reset this program if I can do all the updates except Windows 10 security.

Thank you for any assistance.

By using the system restore before computer restart after updating Windows 10...

Sorry, System Restore does not cancel the major updates, that's why a lot of automatic updates delete all system restore points. The tool that is appropriate in this case would be a restore Image. If you have not created an image before the upgrade, then you are out of luck.

When I try to use the system restore, I get "system restore is disabled by group policy. How can I fix this problem?

    Hi bluelilly,

    1. is your computer connected to a domain?
    2. don't you make changes before the show?

This occurs if the Configuration policy to disable is enabled on your system, either by using Group Policy or through the registry editor. For stand-alone systems Windows Vista, follow these steps:
Step 1: Using the Group Policy Editor. If your edition of Windows Vista includes the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) snap-in, follow these steps:
    a. Click Start, type gpedit.msc and press ENTER.
    b. go to the following branch: Computer Configuration | Administrative templates | System | System restore
    c. double click on disable the Configuration and set it to not configured.
Note: If the above setting is already set to not configured, set it to "Enabled" and click on apply. Return back the setting to not configured, then click on apply, OK.
    d. Quit Group Policy Editor.
    e. restart the computer and check the difference.

Step 2: Using the registry editor
    a. Click Start, type regedit.exe and press ENTER
    b. navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-Software-policies-Microsoft-Windows NT------SystemRestore
    (c) in the right pane, delete the value named DisableConfig.
    d. Quit Registry Editor.
    e. restart the computer and check the difference.

Very important: Modifying the registry incorrectly will cause serious damage to the computer. Back up the registry until you make changes.

  • Pavilion 2000: Using the system restore

I used the system restore in the past and I know it took a few hours to complete with good results, as it eliminated the problem. Last week, I used the restoration of the system, the screen turned blue and the restoration began however this continued for more than 3 days!  I was unable to use my laptop for so long. I saw a blue screen with an icon swirling in the Center. Miraculously, the day 4, he came back to life, but immediately began to update the apps I had checked to only not to do. It took an extra day. Actually, now it's back to normal. I am now afraid to use the restoration of the system again. What I've done wrong?

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the HP Support forum.

Could you provide your full computer model - information can be seen from the service tag sticker > > http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Miscellaneous-Topics-Read-Only/Advice-for-asking-the-quot-Very-Best-Question-quot/td-p/83280 ?

Could you confirm your OS - is this Windows 8/8.1 now?

I see your previous thread in the attempt to upgrade to W10...

I'm not sure about what you were wrong (if anything), but

System Restore is a feature of Windows that usually takes minutes (30 minutes max) in full, not hours, not days. It restores the Windows registry, files/settings of the system to a previous state and is generally quick.

Do you mean the system recovery or system reset/refresh?

These are different things. These restore original Windows or format partitions on HARD drive - it can take an hour or 2-3 max but not days.

If these (especially system restore) lasts days, there is indeed something wrong with the operating system.

    Looking forward to your confirmations.

    keimanzero,

Comcast of Norton Security Suite version is installed? If Yes, who and perhaps malware is most likely to cause questions you have published, in particular the failure of the restoration of the system.
First, configure the system to boot - How to solve a problem by performing a boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
NOTE: Start-up mode minimum state all the 3rd party firewalls will be disabled. Open Control Panel > Windows Firewall to make sure that the native firewall of Windows 7 is now on.

Download and Save the update system (or CheckSUR) tool. You will need to download the specific Version of CheckSUR corresponding to the architecture of the system to Windows 7. If you do not know the architecture of the system, and then click the link that says "Click here to show or hide the instructions step by step with images" under method 2: download the update directly system preparation tool from Microsoft Download Center .
Description of the preparation tool system update for Windows Vista for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2

Once the download is complete, close all open programs and browsers. Now, run CheckSUR with the system connected to the internet because it will download the .cab for system files. Reboot once CheckSUR is complete.

Secondly, I suggest that you run the File Checker system while in the same clean boot state.
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start and type cmd in the field search programs and files .
    2. Right click on cmd.exe in the programs of list, and then choose 'run as administrator '.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
    3. At the command prompt, enter the following line exactly as written including the space between thec and the/and then press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problems facing the system have been resolved.

If they are not, you will need to contact Norton support for the version of Norton Internet Security Comcast to get help, or just uninstall NIS, run the Norton removal tool (right click Norton_Removal_Tool.exe, choose "Run as Administrator"), reboot and then check to see if the problems are still occurring.

OK you have an ETHERNET cable? (cable for PC to the Modem)
    What OS do you have?

Heres to help, you need to an ethernet cable, or adapter wireless XBOX 360.

With the ethernet cable, connect one end on the XBOX and one end to your laptop.
You go to control panel > network and Internet > network and sharing Center > change the adapter settings. Then you select your wireless network and your local network. Then you right click and press 'CONNECTION of BRIDGE' (requires administrator privileges). After that your DONE! Just check if it works on your XBOX 360!

  • Cannot use the system restore

When I tried to do a restore of the system after a software installation failed I got the message "system restore is disabled. You want to turn on? "I clicked the Yes button and then got a screen display that she couldn't be turned on because"system restore has been disabled by group policy. When I searched for how to change group policy, they told me to go to start, run and type gpedit.msc. When I tried that I got an error that gpedit.msc does not exist on my machine. Can someone tell me please how to restore the system restore. I am running an old Vaio with XP, but it still works very well this problem.

Also, I tried it while logged in as an administrator, it is not part of the problem. I do not have a system restore disk because it did not come with the machine and I forgot to make one, but I have a disk of Windows XP with Service Pack 2. Do I have to re - format the entire disk to fix this? I use a sturdy old Sony Vaio, which works very well except for this problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

How did you delete the system restore?

I think you have bad things on your computer (or you did at some point).

If you have XP Home Edition, you have no Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc), but the error message that you declare (if it's like my examples), indicates that group policy has been changed, so that something has changed.

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

Perhaps GoBack is it for you to prevent you from using SR then you would be forced to use use GoBack instead and I do not wish to install GoBack to find out.

Malware "break" things that he knows that you will use to try to get rid of it... like the Task Manager, the restoration of the system, the registry editor, etc.

The malware is happiest when she can trick you into thinking you need to do a repair installation, use a Restore Point or even a complete reinstall when none of those things are needed that outsmart you, and then got rid of with MBAM and SAS.

AV tools will not often catch these things because they can not tell if policies have been disabled by malware or if you made on purpose, so just leave them.   MBAM will point out a few of them as suspect and give you the opportunity to correct them if you wish.

The malware may also know you have XP Home and adjust policies that he thinks that you do not have to be set because you have no Group Policy Editor - This is how he thinks and that's what he does.  He wants that reinstall you XP from scratch.

First run MBAM and SAS if you want.

I've done to the top of this edition of registry for you :).  It's an accumulation of things that responds to all things under the sentence "If you see things like...". ».

If you just want to see if you can get your work of SR and are comfortable editing the registry, you can go here:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore

Find and delete this registry key:

    DisableSR

That's what this line in the file .reg on top:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore]
    "DisableSR" = -.

    He "skins" (removes) politics DisableSR.

That will solve your problem of immediate SR, but will not any question that you have not yet set.

Before making any changes to your registry, back up the registry with this free and popular tool:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/ERUNT.html

But, as I said, if you have in your registry, you have probably other things too.  My regedit will fix all the things I've seen come with the question SR whether or not they have need of fixing.  It does nothing, it will remove anything that might be there (you have at least one).

Then, you should broaden your horizons AV because what you use dropped and could not protect your system.

Or, you can wait and see what other people have to say.

  • When I try to use the system restore I get is an empty box where the restore points should be restore which stops me using the restore of the system how can I get the restoration back bridges

I tried to use my system restore, but when I go into it all dates are missing from the box and I can't use the system I tried many different things, but nothing is done, everyone has ideas

If your system restore page display only the title bar 'System Restore', or your accounts settings page of users shows that the 'User accounts' title bar and the screen where information needs to be is an empty white box...

System Restore is a frequent target of attacks by malicious software.  If SR was working before and is now afflicted, run some scans and then fix any problems.

Remember that the system restore is not a time machine.

Your system is currently or has been reached by malicious software.

You can now fix the symptom and scanning for malware later, or you can now find malware and fix the remains later.  I recommend just fixing the symptom of the empty page and forget to do the scans.  The symptom of the problem of fixing and fixing the problem are two different things.

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

The scans using own it may also be necessary to re-register some dll (or you can do this part first, but you still have to do the scans).

    Just fix the immediate question:

Looks like your file jscript.dll became somehow not registered so you can re-record it.

There are probably a few other things that do not work you know yet, so fix them all at once.

Re-registration of these DLLs is correct, even if they do not need renewal.  You can also re-register the dll before the scans that can solve the problem, but the scans are always recommended.

Click Start, run, and in the box enter orders following one at a time.  Click the OK button to execute each command one at a time.

    regsvr32 jscript.dll
    regsvr32 vbscript .dll
    regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll (it's a look of slash)

The last order for mshtml load the DLL but can also contain a harmless warning depending on your environment.

Now check your timetable for restoration of the system and/or the user account settings page.

Your user profile is probably damaged and that Windows has created a new profile for you.  If you are looking into 'My Documents' or 'My images', your old files won't be there - they are in the old profile.  Do a search for your files.  If you find them, you can copy the entire profile.  See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811151

  • DirectX can it be cancelled free of charge installs or by using the system restore

Running Windows 7 Pro, I know that many people here have a problem with games crashing to the desktop on startup, Bad company 2, battlefield 2, world at war cod. much of this is due to having directx 10, or a more recent version, most of them want to work with directx 9 .0c only. If DirectX can be rolled without Setup or by using system restore [Windows 7 with backup function, it destroyed other files added since it was backed up, so I DON'T want TO do this if possible]. I looked around and not seen anything saying how. Would appreciate anyhelp which can be givin.
    {Just FYI-Bad company 2 features prominently on their site that tells you how to configure it to run only directx 9 c, so I don't have a job now}

    Hi KerryT,

DirectX runtime for end-users (also known under the name of DirectX) is an extension for the Microsoft Windows operating system that provides a set of quick material orders, low level that they can use to improve performance for Windows games and multimedia programs. The current generation of Windows games and multimedia programs does not work properly without DirectX. So, by design, you cannot remove DirectX. You can try to install Directx 9 .0c and check if that helps. But, before to try this step, you can create a point system to be on the side course of restoration.
