C almost full disk, drive D is empty... what should I do now?

My C: (29.2 GB) is low on space... I have QuickBooks & Peachtree programs on that I can't get rid of.  They will not uninstall it. I even moved the files on the D: drive, but it wasn't enough.  I want to do a restore of the system, but not enough space.  I have an empty D drive (418 GB).  How can I make this work?

As the D drive is completely empty, i.e. unwanted data on it, you may be able to use some of its space to extend the C drive.

Right click on computer > manage > storage > disk management to show current partitions from left to right. If drive D is immediately to the right of C in the graphic layout, your luck is in, so:

1. right click on the D chart, then choose Delete to leave unallocated space.
2. right click on the graph C and choose Extend and select the amount of space you want to extend it by.
3. all the space you have left in (2) can be set up as a new drive (smaller) D by double-clicking on it and create a new Simple Volume and formatting.

Hello Datsuny, many times this error means that the hard drive has failed or the operating system on the hard disk is damaged.

I would tend to think that the hard drive has failed.

If you create a PDF file from an image, it is always a picture, and you cannot change it.

If the image contains text, then you need to perform the text recognition (OCR) before you can actually change the text.  Acrobat can do that.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

The ONLY way to return to its original state of the recovery partition is to do a full erase of the hard drive and reconfiguration of the PC itself Žtat factory use HP Recovery Media - and, as said, that will delete EVERYTHING on the drive!

If you have backups of the image, as you requested, then you really don't need to partition and can safely remove to reclaim that space.

If Windows won't let you delete this partition, then try using this: Best Free Partition Manager for Windows | MiniTool Partition free

    Good luck

  • Almost full disk Local (C) - 80 GB with Lenovo (D) - 105 GB free

My local disk (C) is 80 GB and almost full. I got rid of and dumped a lot of things that I don't use on my computer and clean it regularly. I have a Lenovo (D), who has 105 GB of space with almost all of the ones available but I do not know how to use this space. Can I transfer some of the things takes so much space on my (C) in this? And if so, how?

    Hello

Look with in the settings of your programs to change to the D drive. Alternatively, you can copy part
existing data to D:, just copy and make sure everything is OK before you delete it on C: and make a backup.

You can also delete the D: partition and enlarge your C: driver. (Save anything from D: first)
Then you can continue to use the machine you are now. (Are backups and restore points on D:)
If so they will have to be changed if you delete D: entirely.)

Yes, you can double-click the drive in this PC and then double-click "Recovery."  You should be able to right click on the files you want to delete.  At least, I can do this in my D: / partition.

  • My d drive is saying that it is full and rejects the backup. What should I do?

I have an icon on my system tray and it says it is complete... my drive "d".

If your D drive is your recovery partition, you have a problem.
    How to find out?
Start > Conmputer > if drive D shows the capacity of about 10 to 15 GB. This is your recovery partition.

Your recovery partition D is implemented by the manufacturer of your computer in the event of serious problems in your system.
You use it to restore your system.

You are NOT supposed to touch it... not for nothing to add or remove anything from.

You call the manufacturer of the computer, tell them the situation...

    1. ask for a set of discs of recovery of re - install Vista, in which case the system crashes.
    2. ask how to remove backup files or elements that are NOT supposed to be there.
They created the recovery partition, they know how to take care of it.
Let them teach how you to.

You should make the backup file or using an external hard drive or DVD.

Never, I recommend the use of DVDs. It is stone-age and ineffective, and more often than otherwise, it does not work.
The best way is to use an externl HDD and do your backups it.
A 1 TB external harddrive can be done under $150. It's money well spent. Believe me, I tried both ways.
  • I used my new 4 to Seagate Backup Plus on my laptop. He said he had to erase files to make it compatible with Time Machine. Now to 4 is full and cannot be recognized. What should I do?

I'm on OSX El Capitan 10.11.3 and I've never used before to Seagate Backup Plus 4. I wasn't able to put the files using the Macbook Pro. It was purchased only a few hours ago.

After plugging in, he asked if I would use it for Time Machine, and it should be deleted so that it is compatible with Time Machine. This is my first time to use an external hard drive on my laptop, and it is also my first attempt to use Time Machine.

My external hard drive appears only on the disk utility now. Help, please.

In the above image, you click the physical drive. It does not show the available space. You will need to click on the item "Untitled" below to see the space actually available. "Untitled" is the real partition on the disk.
