C6280 issues with double-sided printing

Hey all,.

For some time (we are talking years) I didn't relize I had a duplexer on my machine. I was doing the old-fashioned way: print a page, open the drawer, this page, return the program prints the next page, etc... One day I was flipping autour and saw print on both sides. I thought: ' Eureka, the answer to all my problems. " Evil.

After discovering that I had a duplexer, I was eager to try duplex printing everything and it seemed to work great.

However, lately things have been a bit wacky. For example, when I try to print something double-sided in Word, I normally go to the screenshot and select "print on both sides, back on the short edge," but lately the result is only the last page being printed. The printer prints the last page, it reverses and spits out a blank page on the other side. If a document that has 5 pages, for example, will result in page 5 only printing. This is also true for the PDF and PowerPoint. I have not tried anything else, or I don't remember anything else being sucessfully printed double-sided, I print from these 3 programs frequently. So as a solution, I found that I can go to the printer properties and select "printing double-sided (Duplex)", then "manual" selecing. It was also great to work for a period of time, print the odd pages and then I would feed them manually in the status bar. still a better solution to what I was accustomed to years (above).

That was until last night.

I tried to print a PowerPoint Presentation two-sided document and some of the pages are out, that in a single page had a normal top margin, the following page may have a slightly larger margin, the page after that might a slightly smaller margin, etc... I thought that maybe the Fed just book funny and tried again. Results were the same. I tried to print a PDF file which also resulted in some pages being off. I opened the drawer, made sure the paper was stacked right and was about 20 pages, took off the duplexer and made sure the wheels were spining properly, unplugged the unit for one minute, etc... Nothing worked and it seemed to get worse because I lost paper trying to get to the bottom of it. Some of the pages even started to be printed in the correct order, as in page 1 and page 3 gathered front/rear instead of page 1 and page 2 combined front/rear. So I thought that it must be in the software.

I unplugged the printer, all completely uninstalled, rebooted, ran a registry cleaner, rebooted, downloaded the latest version of the software of HP and performed a clean installation, rebooted, installed the latest driver from HP, rebooted. I did this last all night and the approach seemed to fix the problem with margins. However, I still go on printing double-sided manually. Then this morning I got since I solved a problem, the automatic feeding through the duplexer should work. No joy, 'thing' has been up to his old tricks, only spitting the last page, as if the rest of the pages never made it to the printer. I even went to Devcies and printers > printer properties and I tried to put the duplexer as "installed". Seems that he likes to go back to "not installed".

Someone at - it ideas as to what my problems are?

I am running:

Windows 7 x 64

4 GB DDRM

Intell Core 2 Duo P7350 2.00 GHz

Office 2010

Adobe Reader 11.0.06

I use HP paper

Network (but the problems occur also on USB)

Major changes other than windows updates not normal.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Well, I solved the problem. I played around with a bunch of parameters and magically it just started working. Do not know what settings or a combination of parameters does the job. Looks like it was just a fluke. Lets hope it continues to work properly because I like having the ability to print double sided without manually moving the paper.

  • How can I print A4 borderless with double-sided printing?

I have a HP Photosmart/premium printer and print booklets in Word 2010. When I do, the text and the photos come out compressed because the printer is put into a border on the right edge. I need to print without margins, but with duplex printing using A4. I get a message saying that these 2 are incompatible. How can I replace it? If I print in A4 without border, text, and pictures look correct (the same as on the screen), but I need to print duplex as well.

    Hi Katiepic,

Borderless printing and double-sided printing is not supported at the same time. You have to manually duplex work by putting it into the paper tray to print on the back.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8660: default margins with double-sided printing

I have a 8660 OfficeJet Pro connected wireless via a network to two computers, one running Windows 7 and the other running Windows 10.  On the Windows 10 machine, I noticed that when I print on both sides of the paper, the default printer to the print wide margins (1 ").  For example, I have a 3 pages with 0.25 "Excel document margins.   If I print it in the form of three separate pages, it prints very well, with margins as I have defined it.  But if I print the same document using the option "print on both sides", the printer uses the wider margins.

This only seems to happen on Windows 10 machine.  Given that the two computers are connected through the wireless network, I do not understand why they should all work differently.

    I hope someone can help!

    Hi @Patti_Mik,.

Please get back to me and provide other information. I see that you have the printer Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.

If the same document print from another computer, there is probably a problem with the driver for printing on Windows 10.

Please download and run the print and Scan Doctor, to confirm that you are using the correct printer driver.

    • What were the results when you ran the printing and scanning doctor (she print or scan, error messages)?

In addition, I would like to try to create a custom paper size to see if you can get it to print properly.

What program are you printing from?

    • Try to print the document to a different application.

Please reply to this message with the results. Good luck!

  • PrintPagesSilent using to print the PDF with double-sided printing and color

The use of VBA with Acrobat 9.0 code library.

I have an application that prints the PDF files that are stored on a network drive.

I can print PDF files using PrintPagesSilent, which prints the file to the default Windows printer.

However, I want to be able to specify in the VBA code if I want the file in duplex or printed in color.

I can do this in access using the Printer.Duplex = '2' or Printer.Color = '2', but they do not change the windows default printer settings and therefore do not change how PrintPagesSilent prints.

Can someone shed some light on how I can set these parameters to accomplish what I need.

Or maybe another solution I didn't think.

Figured out, or at least a work around.

Found a VB code that can change Windows printer settings.

All I had to do was create a module and then call SetPrinterDuplex before you print the pdf file, and then again to change it after.

Here is a reference for anyone interested.

  • Invalid double-sided printing on the HP Photosmart C6280 all-in-One (printer, Scanner, copier)

On my 'old' computer (ca. 1974) the print mechanism duplex worked fine, but after that I installed the printer on my 'new' PC (Windows 7, 64-bit), the double-sided printing feature works not at all (although it allows me to print on both sides manually).  In order to operate as it did in the past, should I uninstall everything related to the printer before reloading the software?  Or do I have to reload the software at all?  Or what should I do?  I would like to know before taking any action, because I don't want to create problems for me or my computer/printer.

The duplexer must be set to "installed" as described in The Vista/Windows 7 Duplex Printing Guide troubleshooting here.  You will not need to uninstall and reinstall the driver.

    Hi @roza,

I'd love to help you with your duplex settings. Looks like you will need to change the short edge binding on the long edge. I found something that might help with these settings: with long edges and parameters of short edge duplex printing.

The function "automatic detection" used by some drivers during installation does not always; make sure the driver knows that a duplex unit is present on the printer (assuming that he is present):

    • For the instance of the printer in question, bring up the printer properties dialogue.
    • Select the device settings tab.
    • Make sure the duplex unit is set to installed and not installed.

You will probably need to be logged in with administrator credentials in order to change the settings of the device.

  • How to disable double-sided printing on HP jet Office 6700

I just bought a HP officejet 6700 premium for my iMac computer. I also installed Microsoft for my iMac. I don't want the duplex printer forever. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi crayric,

    We gladly invite you.

The above information refers to Mac OS X, however, I included the steps for the latest versions of OS X (10.7 or 10.8) because you did not mention the version of your operating system.

If you have an earlier version of the OS 10.6 or 10.5, you may need to click the icon shaped triangle next to the name of the printer to spend the print settings in the print dialog box.

For any question, please specify your exact OS version (you can find that out by clicking the Apple icon, then the about this Mac, also well let me know the exact Office for Mac version installed on your Mac (2004, 2008 or 2011).

  • LaserJet P1102w: Double-sided printing will not turn off

Even if double-sided printing is NOT selected in the printer properties, printing all ask for double-sided printing.  So if I go to print a single page printjob, the computer asks to have the blank page that was 'printed' just to get back in the tray.

How can I get this fixed?

    Hi @Skunkeeper,

Welcome to the HP Support forum.

I understand that you use a HP LaserJet Pro P1102w printer with a Windows 10 computer and when you try to print a single page, the printer ejects a blank page and ten invites you to put in the tray, so the second side can be printed, even if double-sided printing is not selected. I would like to help with that.

This really looks like a software problem. I would like to start by running this HP print and Scan Doctor. It is a tool that allows you to diagnose and solve the problems of printing software and printer.

Please let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance.

In fact, if it helps you to find a solution, please click on the 'accept as Solution' and the 'thumbs up' buttons down below in this message.

  • HP Envy 4500: Double-sided printing

I've had my printer for about two months now, and at the beginning I had no problem with printing. I was thrilled that the printer has the ability to duplex printing to save paper, but all of a sudden my printer is more two-sided printing even if the "meetings" are checked in the print menu that appears before printing. I would go to the bottom of this, because I prefer to take advantage of the features of the printer and save paper. Please let me know what I am doing wrong and advice to solve this problem, thank you!

Collected has nothing to do with the double-sided, this means that when you print 3 copies of a document that is five pages long, it will print pages 1 to 5 three times instead of print page 1 three times and then page 2 three times and so on. Double-sided printing can be enacted in one of two ways. Either you select double-sided as an option when you go to print a print job, or you set the driver to duplex by default values. According to the printer model, you can also apply duplexing by telling the duplex printer all. It is model specific and you do not specify the pattern here, so I can't give you the exact details.

    Hi @robgit,

Please check back with the results of your efforts.

You may need to configure the automatic duplexer in the HP printing software.

Discover sone of the procedure described in this document - printing on both sides of the paper (duplex) (OS X). Note: This model of printer supports automatic duplex printing. Scroll down to "How do I duplex automatic if my printer takes in charge?" in the FAQ section.

Please let me know if it helps.

    Jay B.

    Hi @Jayburn,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I noticed that the back comes out on top down, when duplex printing with your HP Officejet 6700 Premium, Windows 7. I am pleased to see that for you!

Please, take a look through this guide, print on both sides of the paper (duplex printing) for HP Officejet Premium 6700 e-all-in-one printer (H711). Follow the instructions for Windows.

    Guidelines General double-sided printing

Do not print on both sides of the following types of paper, or paper jams may occur:

    • Transparencies
    • Envelopes
    • Photo paper
    • Glossy paper
    • Paper lighter than 60 g/m2 (16 lb).
    • Heavier than 105 g/m2 (28 lb) paper.

Several kinds of paper require a specific orientation when you print on both sides of a sheet. It's letterhead, preprinted paper and paper with watermarks and pre-perfores holes. The printer will print the first side of the first book. Load the paper with the top edge first and the side to be printed facing downwards.

    I hope this helps!

  • HP 2549: HP 2549 and Mac OS x: double-sided printing does not work

    Hello!

I just installed this printer on my Macbook Air and I cannot print double-sided. I tried by USB / wireless (in the case where there is a difference between the two) but no luck.

I followed the advice in this post: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/two-sided-printing-no-longer-availble-...

but I did not tab "driver". I only have "Général", "Levels of power" and "utility." I tried to delete the printer and then add it with HP 2359 and AirPrint not but that does not change.

When I print a pdf document, double-sided printed is greyed out and I cannot change.

What should I do? I already reinstalled the drivers on the HP Web site, I selected all the things that I can install it, but that has not changed anything.

    Thank you.

    Hi @blablaalf,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see that two-sided printing does not work with your printer HP 2549 on Mac OS X 10.10. I'm happy to help with this problem!

I assume that your printer is a HP Deskjet 2549, otherwise please reply with the exact type of printer you have. To find product/model number of your printer follow the instructions in this link. Find your model number of the HP product.

Otherwise, if the type of printer you have. According to this guide, print on both sides of the paper (duplex printing). He said: this printer is not an automatic duplex unit integrated, you can always print on both sides of the page to manually reload paper in the paper after printing tray first to print on both sides of the paper.

This is the reason why this option is grayed out.

If you print on letterhead, pre-printed paper or paper with watermarks and pre-drilled holes, the printer prints first the front of the document. Load the paper with the top edge first and the side to be printed facing downwards.
  • OfficeJet Pro 8000 double-sided printing will not respond to the control software #2

    Win XP Pro SP3

    OfficeJet Pro 8000 Wireless

Does anyone know why Officejet Pro 8000 had control of double-sided printing, removed from the spec software?

Does anyone know if there is a printer of this type which will respond to such control?

    UPDATE!

    ----------

This printer is now works very well with total control on duplex printing. But how did this happen...?

Two things have changed - well, maybe three.

But first of all to mention another very annoying problem: wireless printer to my network connection always collapsed which was a double nuisance (23/06/2016 see also installing the driver wireless Officejet 8000 Pro says default gateway is 0.0.0.0)

The road to happiness... I've finally updated my PC to a laptop HP Win7 (there is a problem with the laptop, but that's another story...)

During the process of setting up laptop, I had to set up the network and add the printer. In between aid was a FAQ something like "the wirless connection drops regularly." What interested me.

The fix was so simple - mychosen IP address has always been in the DNS range which was probably not very smart, but I didn't know any different. No one had ever mentioned before.

The idea is to select an address in the static range IE outside the DNS. So I took a number x.x.x.249 and bingo!, a solid and reliable connection that is always there.

Given the new laptop for download the drivers again. What went well and of course, the new machine is much faster.

Anyway after a few tries, much to my delight I discovered that two-sided printing worked with auto rotation if I check the box. Printing a document like that I would see in portrate (horizontal spine) and read down the two pages, turn to the next page and the same thing at the end of the document. Or, if you use the rotation of non - normal mode - the printing orientation is 'normal '.

It's a shame that it was necessary to buy a new laptop with a new o/s just to discover the problem by chance...
