C850 satellite will not start - black screen with mouse cursor while
the screen while starting up is black with the cursor display white mouse - but won't start
the computer is only 3 months with windows 8
Please help me
Thank you
You mean underscore flashing/blinking in the upper left corner?
It is above all an indicator of malfunction of the HARD drive.
In your case, I recommend contacting the Toshiba authorised service provider because the laptop is 3 months old. In this case the warranty is still valid and you must have it repaired for free.

Nowhere on my HP Pavilion dm4 close last night and does not restart. When I turn on the computer, I get a black screen with a cursor blinking in the upper left corner. I ran a variety of diagnostics and all seems OK (i.e. no error message).
I am able to start the computer in mode 'Media' - and I see all my files. However, I'm unable to start the computer normally. Help, please.
My computer is old - 1 year and 25 days to 25 days outside the warranty period.
Thank you.

Windows 8 will not start black screen.
It has been three days, I've tried everything I can find. I start my computer, I see the screen with the icon where you sigh, it loads and I get a black screen with a mobile cursor.
Any help I see is to go to this or that on desktop and run everything that... I CAN'T go to my office. I can't start a backup drive (managed to get a copy, because the computer did not come with one) without getting through desktop Start menu. I can't do it in safe mode without going through the menu through my office... What am I supposed to do when ALL I get is a black screen? No amount of ctrl + alt + del or restart lead me anywhere I try to reboot and I'm frozen on a blue screen that says loading. I hard reboot and I'm back to the black screen.I would just reinstall, but the computer came preloaded so I don't have the keys.Someone help me please!F8 and all other combos keys that I found online, do nothing, pull up no menus, still called gateway and they said tapping deletes during the power upward would pull up the menu bridge... nothing.Well, I discovered something that many people do not know apparently. I called gateway and he was telling me what to do, get a crazy thought I was doing it wrong. All I had to do was press DELETE to get their menu upwards, but every time I did it I did have 'no signal' on my screen. After a huge clothing "Yes, my screen is plugged! When I don't type at least something shows to the top, etc etc... "he gave up and told me to drop it.
What I realized: you can't get through all the menus with a connected graph card. I don't know why I didn't think, in retrospect, that should be obvious, at least to a person in the forums help much, I went.If you have a similar problem make sure that you are using onboard graphics (which means completely disconnect all other cards manually). Only then can come bios.Arrived, made a fast start, has managed to get malwarebytes running and had 11 malicious files. How my boyfriend or I took those up is still a mystery, it's funny I did some quick tests every morning and they come clean. Guess I have to do a full analysis more often. -
Satellite L350 - D 215 black screen with blinking cursor
Satellite L350-D 215 black with cursor flashing screen - it worked fine said he had to restart and that's what happened, I can't in windows allows any single me in bios and Boot Manager.
I am looking for help to solve this problem. I don't know what went wrong, my warranty runs out on December 26, 2010 so if I can't fix it myself can I have return to toshiba to fix. I'm at a loss as to how to solve this problem, I have no disk for laptop recovery.
I tried the fix when you remove the battery and press the power button to 30 seconds doesn't not work, also tried leaving a few hours without battery and tried plugging in to power same, toshiba screen and only boot in the bios etc usually let HDD boot in windows only in black screen and blinking cursor.
Any help much appreciated. I saw the restoration of disks for £9.95 on a Web site for the machine so don't know what to do... totally empty.
Hello
I agree with Akuma.
Blinking cursor means that the Windows OS can not be loaded / booted up.
You need to reinstall new OS.If you have a Microsoft windows CD you can use this disk to reinstall the operating system. The necessary drivers can be downloaded from the Toshiba page.
Otherwise, you would need order a recovery disc Toshiba from here:

Hello
To be honest, for me it looks like a Windows problem. Maybe something messed with the registry and Windows can start t more
I think that you must restore windows recovery disk Toshiba you wrote that you have tried to load the restore disc but what happened after that? Can start the installation of recovery? If so, you should do this.
Backup, you can do if you buy an external HARD drive enclosure. Remove the HARD drive and install in the case of HARD drive. Now you can connect to another computer.

Hi all
There is a problem with my Satellite A100-906:
After having lit - Toshiba page appears - that the loading Windows XP page - more than a black screen with a cursor (the touchpad moveable)... and nothing more.
That's what I tried without success:
Detach the battery for over an hour
Start the computer with battery detached
Change the default BIOS settings
Start in Safe Mode - the same black screen with 'safe mode' legends in the 4 corners of the screen. Please help with this.
Hello
According to your message, the screen of the laptop BIOS is visible and also the Windows screen.
I think that it s not a hardware problem but a software problem.
Maybe your operating system is confusing until you think about using the Toshiba Recovery disk and to restore the system?
I mean you already tried the passage without danger and she didn't so in my opinion, the next step should be the new installation of the OS

I left by mistake a USB in the port when I restarted my computer (Windows 7).
Since then, when I start the computer, it goes through a few stages starting and then ends with a black screen with a cursor flashing at the top.
If I press ESC during startup and access the start menu, something marked WED... is highlighted and I press on enter and it starts normally.
How can I get Windows 7 to do a normal boot without having to access the Boot Menu each time?
Thank you.
Tried that, but it did not work. Finally got and IT guy come and it took him 3 1/2 hours to repair.
Need a bootable floppy which has then repairs itself.
Lesson learned. Have an available for each computer startup disk.

Black screen with blinking cursor
So today I started my computer normally and I was doing my normal activities for about 5 minutes before my computer automatically shut down and restarted. After the flash blue HP screen, it goes to a black screen with a cursor blinking in the upper left. If I tap Ctrl + Alt + Delete it just goes back through projection and the black screen again.
The only options on the splash screen that works are the program installation, diagnosis and menu start. For some reason, hit F11 to restore the system does nothing and it will pass just to the black screen. Another strange note is that simply type the power button it will stop, I don't need to keep it.
To the extent the why in this case, the only reasonable explanation would be that I had a virus. Malwarebytes was telling me "svchost.exe" meant any activity suspected and I did a complete analysis of the system yesterday, he finds and supposed to be deleted the svchost.exe and I did a reboot. After reboot, it came to a black screen and proceeded to do some sort of check disk or something. After that, it was fine, but I closed it down last night and this morning, the question arose.
I'm not really good with computers, I went into the BIOS and tried to restore the default values. As far as I know he recognizes the hard disk. Verification of diagnosis completed without finding any problems. I removed all USB devices and it always goes to the black screen.
I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I have no recovery disks.
If anyone has knowledge or they can share advice, it would be much appreciated.

Help, please! black screen with blinking cursor...
my screen said to check the file system on D the type of file system is NTFS volume lable in recovery, one of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. You can cancel the disk check, but it is strongly recommended that you continue. Window to check the disk, then there a blue screen that says it was shut down to avoid damage and that a crucial thread in the system operation is released or terminated and to check the hardware or software that can be installed properly, then he did a crashdump and completed it. then he went to a black screen with a cursor of Charlotte on top and that's all he does now when I turn on the right after Gateway logo, he goes to this black screen with blinking cursor. What anddo which has happened, I hope or is this a lost cause? Help, please!
Hello
No saving necessary data and re-installing Windows Vista might be the best option, but here
are a few others. You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer as a 2nd disk (best) or external
Drive USB enclosure and then backup to removable media such as CD, DVD or other USB drives.
Of course a real store of the computer or the manufacturer of your system can help to recover the files.Or you can use a boot Ubuntu CD to back up data.

Original title: Windows 7 Home Edition
Yesterday, my pc only has a black screen with a cursor. I tried to restore on another point but then after starting upwards and put my password, I get the home screen but cannot open any programs. I can't use the USB stick or cd / dvd drive so how should proceed to solve this? I can't put my external modem to make a back up and I really want to fix this without losing all the data on my pc. I can run programs in safe mode and windows installation disc opens in SafeMode as well, however I can't set safe mode.
Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
Click Install now
Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.
You will receive the following warning:
The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.
(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK
The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.
Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.
You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.
