Cable Micro SATA Desktop Inspiron 3050

I see in many forums that others are looking at adding a 2.5 drive "to the PC Inspiron 3050 (office computer) as much as I am. The problem is that this is not a standard SATA cable, there is a cable "Leap" (shown on page 46 of the maintenance manual).

Reference Dell parts & accessories help says that cable is available if you order the 3050 with 500 GB drive, but this isn't an option to select right now.

Has anyone found another cable that works? Or anyone know if Dell will it make some usable/replaceable by the user, we can order the upgrade/add a disk 2.5 "SATA later? Or part number, we can order? Or possibly provide a close-up on the cable and that it connects to the leap card so I can see if I can make one?

OK time for some good news.

First of all there is a blog that some of us use to discuss this machine here.  I highly recommend reading, its full of information.

Now on the cable.  We have a winner!

This is the model of the cable that will work with this machine and the drive:

HP Envy 17 series J 1 disk hard disk HARD SATA cable adapter B 6017, 0421501

You can buy them on eBay for around $14 shipped.  Here is a link to one.

You must make a change on the cable in order to make it work!

Using a pair of scissors, cut the two pins plastic little at the end of the Ribbon Envy 17 main pay-per-view cable, you can not miss, only two of straight line simple cuts in order to have the ribbon cable hang properly and deep inside is SATA tape on the Council 3050 and Voila! Make sure to take the white support little outward with your fingernails or a small screwdriver.

If you read the blog that I linked above, you can see screenshots of the working group 2nd disc.

Its really a shame that we must buy some 3rd party cable HP on eBay in order to make our Dell products work 100%.  Its also a shame that we had to take the time we hunt, test and find a solution (we thank tornado4u2 immensely for).

I'll post my own results once I got my cable I bought yesterday.

  • I disconnected cable PCI-GPIB (desktop disabled) to move the equipment, once reconnected and restarted Desktop, I can't connect to the instruments more (OS Windows XP)

    Hi people,

I hope someone can help me with this problem. I am running a Windows XP operating system where I have recently been using a NI PCI-GPIB to connect to instruments. The other day, I had to turn off the desktop computer to disconnect the GPIB cable to move the material furniture - I do not remember if I had turned off equipment that were connected via GPIB cable before removing the GPIB cable from the desktop.

Although I came to notice that he was in loose in the socket connection that it can be disconnected from the never removed the GPIB card slot. Now with etc-reconnected GPIB cable is unconnected with the instruments via the software I use--I don't see the equipment listed on MAX either. I had NEITHER-488. 2 installed v2.8 and following this issue and various changes to try to solve it (for example, move to another location, System Restore to previous restore point I knew the connection work etc.). I upgraded to 2.8.1 V and still the same issue.

In Device Manager, there is a pilot 'unknown device' I have tried to update and no will - I even tried him assigning driver for the NI PCI-GPIB card that seemed to have worked but still no will.

    Appreciate your help on this.

    Chris

have you checked that the GPIB card is secure in its niche in the PC?

  • Choice of a model of desktop Inspiron for two monitors

I didn't keep on computer hardware for some time and I found myself completely confused now that I'm looking to choose a new system that will support two monitors. It seemed simple at first, but now I'm a little worried that I'm missing something.

    In any case...

I am looking to buy a desktop Inspiron model relatively inexpensive which allows two monitors. What should I look for to confirm the system that I'm looking will support two monitors? At first I thought that I would need to have a discreet graphics as opposed to something like the graphics card intel integrated, but some of the things I've seen seem to indicate the onboard graphics on some of the tips Intel will do what I need.

I would mainly use for extended desktop just to be able to open MS Excel on both screens, but sometimes I wish I could watch my DIRECTV on one of the monitors (probably by logging into my DIRECTV account, as I do sometimes on my laptop).

Hoping someone can give me an idea here.

    Thanks in advance!

No, I don't say that all Intel adapters will work. The link I gave was a particular model Inspiron. Apparently the web page changed, because when I went back to it, the page was different.

    You buy a system with a card video of at least one of the monitors. Or, if you really want a cheap system, you can buy one that has only the onboard video and then separately purchase a USB > {video) dongle where {video} matches at least one port on the second monitor, for example USB > HDMI.}

  • PC desktop Inspiron 535 s - SATA Slots

I had a question on the number of slots available on the Inspiron 535 s SATA

I opened the case yesterday to try to add a new disk HARD SATA from Toshiba. Then I realized that the motherboard has 4 numbered slots from 0 to 3. The SATA adapter is only 2 slots (0 and 1). A credit card on affecting the older HARD drive 0 adapter black on 1 which goes to the DVD player.

The numbering is a little weird that it is ranked 0,2,1,3 on the motherboard

There is a power cable spare hung under the HARD drive power cable.

So essentially, it left me behind.

    (a) I have to go and get the pins of connector SATA enabled on 0 and 2 on the motherboard

    (b) or change the HARD disk, put in the most recent HARD disk and reinstall the top OS. That would leave the old drive of 300 GB unused.

I am inclined to (b) just so that I can recover the investment on the new Toshiba 1 TB drive

Someone has better thoughts on the situation?

    Rgds,

    Sridhar

Gee, looks like faulty moltherrboard for me...  I had let someone solder on the motherboard.

  • Upgrade your desktop Inspiron 570

    Hello

I have an Inspiron 570 desktop computer and instead to buy a newer version, I want to just update some of the pieces. I want to do the following

-replace broken USB 2.0 ports at the front with USB 3.0 ports

-install an additional hard disk: SSD who will hold a new copy of Windows 10. I'll leave the hard drive in place for data.

-J' have also 4 X 2 GB or RAM, so don't know if it is possible to replace these and this up to 10-16GB.

That I have not changed or modified any of the office, so it is that he is out of the box.

What is it exactly that I need to buy for the front USB ports and what considerations I need to do when you purchase the SSD because that's an inspiron 570?

    Thanks in advance

You will not be able to take advantage of or install USB 3.0 like the motherboard has no connections to it and the chipset does not support.

If you have a free SATA port, it is possible to add the SSD for the system. What you need to consider when buying the SSD is what title he is. For a Windows installation only, I recommend from 120 to 128 GB of disks because that allows updates. With this, you must map your my documents, my videos, my picutres and my music libraries on your 'data disk ' to avoid quickly fill a space. If you plan to install programs on your SSD I would say at least a 250 GB SSD.

Regarding the RAM, the maximum amount of RAM the system supports its 8 GB.

  • Small barrette desktop Inspiron 3250

I have the small desktop computer Inspiron 3250.  Processor information: Intel Core i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70 GHz (CPU:0).  Memory type: DDR3 (1600 MHz).

I want to add another module of 8 GB memory.  I asked Dell representing 5 times on which order module.  I got 4 different recommendations and a "(votre PC ne peut pas être mis à niveau)."  I know that my PC has two slots for memory and uses only 1 module 8 GB so I know that it can be upgraded.  I don't know which module is best suited for my PC.

    Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance

Did you call directly (totally separate from the Dell technical support) Dell spare parts and gave them this part number?

You can look at Crucial.com. They have 2x8GB of RAM for this system model for ~ $94. The good thing about Crucial is that they guarantee it works in any system they recommend for or they take it back. Many people in this forum to buy crucial.

But do you a favor. As soon as the page host of Crucial and works through their search for products on the left side so that you know you want to RAM your system. Do rely not only on the link I posted, because - after all - it's your money.

You will need to click the "Show more" button when you get to the page of your model see the modules of 8 GB.

And I guess you could sell the Hynix module on eBay etc to recover part of the cost of a new pair...

I think I have a small Tower because it doesn't have a lot of empty space inside. Is it possible to have a card not in the Tower?

The GTX 750 will not work.  Only low-profile cards will be suitable to the 660 s.  You also only a 220 Watt power supply.  I run the HD 6570 HERE in 660 s who does well enough with the games.  Even if you can still find them (overpriced) because they have been abandoned, the 7750 HD HERE worked in the 660 s and was the best card you could get.  The Sapphire is available only used on ebay, but other brands are still there.  The HD 6570 would be higher than your Intel HD graphics and for the price can be your best buy.  You cannot run the cards outside your Tower.

  • How to install a preconfigured desktop inspiron 3650 hd?

My Dimension 9200 about 10 years just died of BSOD. Tried to diagnose the error codes. Abandoned and sent to a workshop. They tried with new ram, cards etc without success. They said faulty motherboard due to some burned / doesn't have a capacitor. Decided to get a new inspiron with a better OS and CPU.

Still waiting for the pc to arrive. Want to install the hd (vista) dimension as a 2nd hd on my Inspiron. I can't get the files I want.

I would like if possible, find out how. Plugin just the old hd on the motherboard?

My old hd a C and D drives.

    Thank you

Assuming that the old HDD is a SATA drive, you should be able to plug into a SATA port that is not used on the new PC.

Do not expect to start from the old HDD.  And no matter what program you used previously should be installed in Windows on the new PC. You will not be able to run any software that sits on the old HARD drive.

All you will be able to do is to access your personal files on the old drive. You can copy them to the HARD drive that comes in the new PC, or use the old HDD for extra storage or backup copies of the files on the new disk.

  • Advice needed on the desktop Inspiron 3650

    Hello world

I need to buy a new desktop computer and I had a look at the new Inspiron 3650.

It is in my budget and seems to have pretty decent specifications for what I need, I'd go for the model i3 with 8 GB of RAM at £349. I would like to know if this would be good for the upgrade in the near future. I would like to add a graphics card dedicated, a pretty cheap, less than 70 pounds, nothing complicated and maybe upgrade the processor at any given time. Do you think that this office would be appropriate?

I mainly use for browsing web, web design and development work so I'll use things like dreamweaver, photoshop, etc., maybe some video basic editing as well, I don't use it for games. My budget is only £450, but I might go to 500 books to a boost if you can recommend anything else, so it comes with a monitor.

    Thank you.

    Hi PS4Gamer78,

You must call the sales department in your country for prices and specifications. We are in the United States and do not have access to your listing of countries or prices.

  • I forgot my password for windows 7 for my laptop and a reset disk has not been created. How can I recover the password or create a new one? and I have a dell desktop inspiron one 19

I forgot my password for windows 7 for my laptop and a reset disk has not been created. How can I recover the password or create a new one? and I have a dell inspiron one 19 desktop... your help will be very appreciated thanks in advance!

Here are the usual methods to solve this problem:

    • Restart the computer with your Windows repair CD, then use system restore to set Windows in a few days (only works if you have recently changed the password).
    • Logging in as a different admin account and then reset the password for your existing account (works only if create you an alternative admin account).
    • Log in as administrator mode without failure, then reset the password for your existing account (works only if you have activated the account administrator and know its password).
    • Insert your flash drive USB with the password key file (only works if you have created such a keyfile).
    • Check your paper files (works only if you threw down the password somewhere)

If none of these standard precautions work for you, then the remedy will be painful. Post again if this is the case.

  • PowerEdge R320 cable for SATA?

    Hi all

I recently bought a new (ok, almost new 'store') R320 server, that happened and seems to be wired to the SATA drives (non - hot). No hard drives have been included in the system - I was aware of this ;-)

I also have two Dell 2 TB NearLine SAS / 6 GB/s / 7.2 k / 3.5 HD ... so my question is, what exact cable I need to buy & replace, so that I can use these SAS drives in my system which is already wired for SATA?

What I read, the controller integrated PERC H710 supports SATA and SAS, then is it just a matter of buying the SAS cable and its connection to the SAS_A on the H710 port?

    Thanks in advance
