call scam care 247 computer. Are they able to access my computer.

I just got a call from a company called 247 computer care, pretending to be Microsoft. My son plays games so I thought that he downloaded something questionable, so did not get suspicious right away. They have me push the button start and r which showed full of viruses called, then directed me to their website that I went, but immediately hung up the phone. I have not download anything, or anything by clicking on their site, but I am concerned that they now have a kind of access to my computer. Can anyone help me on this, or advise me on the best course of action. I googled them and see there are a lot of reports of that, but people seem to have had download something or give them more details, which I do not.

Please help, am very worried.

This a complete scam and one that has become very common these days. . Don't think anything such a caller said, do nothing that he tells you to do and hang up on him immediately.

It sounds like you didn't leave it in your computer and you should be safe.

  • Does anyone know where heard anything on a tech support company called CodeDefend? If so, are they legitimate?

My system stagnating earlier today after an unsecured site navigation and has been invited to call support immediately and warned to not stop or restart my computer because this would cause it to hang indefinitely. So I called the number that pops up on the screen and got connected to a CodeDefend tech, who has access to my computer to fix my problem, which of course, I had to pay (hoping that I was not scammed). He scanned my computer and found precarious foreign addresses then it downloaded and run both Ccleaner and Malwarebytes and now my computer seems to work very well. I also downloaded the latest version of the system OS Sierra software to improve the overall performance of my system. I tried to do a search on Google of CodeDefend and could not find information or comments about their services. Has anyone here used CodeDefend before, and they are safe to use?

    Pop ups are scamware.

Your old Toshiba Satellite M50 probably cannot be upgraded to Windows 7, but go here: http://support.toshiba-tie.co.jp/windows7/upgrade_cae.htm

What is Windows XP "ATM"?  Right-click on desktop and select Properties.  What version of WIndows XP, including the service pack is shown here?

What do you mean by 'symbol wireless "?

Either the light near the wireless switch on the front of the laptop on or off? It will power on and off when you change the switch setting?

Open network connections (start > run > ncpa.cpl > OK) and list all the icons that you see there.

  • Virtual machines are not able to access the network after you have moved the host

We moved our 4 ESX host to a different physical switch and now our VMs cannot access the network.

I can access the host via client vsphere.  Our host has 2 network cards.  They are both members of the vSwitch0.  I have 1 VM network defined, and they are both members of it.  The network adapters, vmnic0 and vmnic1 are also part of my VMkernel which I do not know that I need because I have 1 ESX Server and do not use iscsi or NFS.

the two cards are also part of my service console.

According to my host "configuration / display: vitual switch, it looks like all my virtual machines are defined to use the vswitch."

the two physical network adapters is connected to the same switch.  I did not go to any configuration on the switch.

    The steers would be appreciated.

    Welcome to the community,

It sounds as if the physical switch ports are not configured correctly. Please check that port security is disabled on the switch (switchport mode access) ports and spanning tree portfast is (if any).

The fact that they called you is violating your privacy. For service companies, if you call them and ask for help, they will call you back or if request you the support from them. But if someone calls you out of blue and you say they could help you, it is likely to be a SCAM, I suggest to take a look at:

I get calls from a company that says they are Ms.  (last 4 times) they said that my computer reports that I get errors, and they want to use the observer for the team to go into my computer and help me. Is it a scam?

    Hello Margaux.730,

Yes, it's a scam. Do not give them access to your PC, they will try to steal personal data such as bank details etc. When they call again just tell them you don't have a PC or simply hung up. Never provide personal details or credit card number because they are also after the money too.

Unless you have a prepaid contract or have opened a support ticket no Microsoft will call you about your PC problems.

    Hello

They are cold, you try to pick up the 'business' calling

    It's a scam.

Either these so-called "Microsoft" Tech companies want to sell you a worthless software, or remote access to your computer to try to steal your credit card and bank information and also achieve an identity theft on you.

You are the only person who knows if you gave them remote access.

If you gave them remote access and you do Internet banking, contact your bank, to explain, and change passwords.

If you use your online credit card, cancel and get a new one issued to you.

And the only way that willl you know that you are free to them is to backup your data and do a clean install of your operating system.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

And Microsoft does not contact you unless YOU have made prior arrangements with them to do.

There is an article in the link I'm you provide at the end of this one

    Read this Information from Microsoft:

Microsoft has none of the unsolicited telephone calls to help you fix your computer

In this type of scam cybercriminals are calling you and claim to be of Support technique Microsoft. They offer help with your computer problems. Once scammers have earned your trust, they try to steal and damage your computer with malicious software, including viruses and spyware.

Although the law enforcement can trace phone numbers, often authors use pay telephones, disposable cell phones or stolen cellular phone numbers. Better avoid fooling themselves rather than try to repair the damage afterwards.

Treat all unsolicited sceptically telephone calls. Don't provide personal information.

If you receive an unsolicited call from someone who claims to be from Technical Support Microsoft, hang up. We do not have such calls.

  • Have I been scammed? -Received a call from Windows saying pirates were trying to get access to my computer

I just got a call from windows saying pirates were trying to get access to my computer and asked me to go to the run menu and type eventvwr and go to security and count the red Xs and yellow triangles, after that I said I was under 18, they told me to wait for their phone call.  They also said that they were in England in the Department in charge of piracy (not the exact words), I was wondering if it was a scam because (don't not to sound racists but) they sounded to the East Indies and I read on some other getting calls of the people of the East Indies and it didn't sound like a normal call center because there was a lot of noise in the background it all seemed a bit suspicious to me.

Fake phone calls to technical support

Calls unrequested telephone of this nature are almost always a common scam. Do not let them give any info, do not give access to your PC, not give them all the money and do not go to all the websites that they suggest. One moment.

    Please see:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/online-privacy/msname.aspx .

Microsoft issues never not solicited for phone calls of support or security.

These types of callers can use completely fictitious names or bogusly claim to be of real companies other than Microsoft as well.

I have accidenally moved my documents to a flash drive and then deleted from the flash drive. Are they in my computer somewhere?

You may be able to recover from the computer or the flash drive using a program like Recuva file recovery.  For the best chance, do it immediately, before doing anything else on the computer.

  • I googled Mozilla contact and got the "Guruaid", which took control of my computer. Are they justified?

Had a problem with Mozilla and thinking, at first, that I had contacted an official Mozilla support telephone Center. (They were top of the list of Google). Guruaid are based in India. They were helpful and solved the problem but, in doing so, took control of the computer for about 4 hours. I was persuaded to buy a warranty of 2 years and advised to have their own and service my computer every 1 or 2 months. How can I check that they are in good faith and that there are itsafe to let them have control? I changed a few passwords, in case, but I have to do every time they have had access? Grateful for any advice.

It is up to you to keep paying them and to allow access to your computer.

The Mozilla contact page is https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/contact/spaces/ which lies beneath many pages from mozilla.org . It is not for purposes of support well.

Mozilla does not have one on one support by phone, email or instant chat, be they official or third party. Neither Mozilla charge for any assistance. There was a support volunteer cat limited hours each day before some time here but. The options only official for the support of products such as Firefox is this https://support.mozilla.org/ , irc.mozilla.org (strings such as #sumo and #firefox) and the Mozilla discussion groups. There are also independent forums.mozillaZIne.org assets which has been around since November 4, 2002, if you want more help options and has #mozillazine in irc.mozilla.org channel

He had a salary of third-party service support by email several years ago that was not so good (Clipboard answers) and short-lived and probably why Mozilla never used a third party since service.
