  This a complete scam and one that has become very common these days. . Don't think anything such a caller said, do nothing that he tells you to do and hang up on him immediately.

  At let them into your computer? If you did you are at serious risk for what they could have done it (installed spyware? Steal the passwords?), and I highly recommend that you do the two following:

  1 reinstall Windows properly

  2. change all your passwords, especially those of the financial institutions and online stores.

  Yes, you are right not to trust that it is not windows or any part of Microsoft support services.

  This is HOAX and FAKE for sure. Microsoft will never contact you unless call you them first and ask for help. Microsoft will never know which PC encourage error.

  As for the follow-up to the call, then it's probably more a job for the local police / it's for Microsoft, which is only a software/hardware company.

  What can we do to stop these phone calls from people claiming to be windows; telling us that our computer has problems (they say they have a way monotoring our computers) and they want us to run scans. We had several calls (today they said that they were the Georgia [the country, not the State} and they argued and said YES, I faced were Windows.]) And when I tell them that we have been in contact with windows and tell you that it is fraudulent; they just hang on... BUT they call again in a few days. We do not have a way to block this kind of appeal here in New Zealand and it becomes a real nuisance.

The person said she would phone in 20 minutes and up... hanging not too surprised there is no recall yet (1 h later).
