Calories burned during the workout

Hello

I don't really know how to track the number of calories I burn during the workout. I especially body attack and body fights but I don't know which drive to choose the app to training in order to have a better representation of the calories. What do you use?

Hello

Choose the type of activity that better reflects the nature of your business to exercise for any given fiscal year.

If no other options are similar, choose another.

When you use others, Apple Watch active calorie estimate is based on data from the heart rate sensor.

    Hello

Apple says that, even in ideal conditions, Apple Watch may not be able to save a reliable heart rate monitor each time reading for everyone.

For best performance of the sensor of heart rate during the training, Apple suggests you consider your clamping beforehand watch band and he loosen again thereafter.

The sensor is also likely to give better results for workouts that involve rhythmic (for example running) rather than the irregular movements (for example boxing). Other problems that can affect the performance of the sensor include the perfusion of the skin and wrist tattoos.

If your workouts involve flexing your wrists (for example what weight lifting, for example), it can help to keep your watch a little higher on your arm, the joint in flexion.

  • Is it possible to stop watch closing to screen during the workout?

Is there a setting or application which can prolong the duration of display?

    Tom

    Hi Tom

Under the present version of the software Apple Watch (watch OS 2.1):

-If you wake up the display by increasing your wrist, the screen stay awake for up to 6 seconds.

-If you wake up by touching the screen, he can stay awake for up to 15 seconds or 70 seconds (sleep again if you decrease your wrist in this period).

-It currently has no option to have the display up permanently or for a longer period than that.

To set the length of your favorite by tapping the screen to reactivate:

-On your iPhone, in the application of Eve, go to: My Watch (tab) > General > screen Wake - under on press on, select Wake 15-70 seconds.

  • Heart rate reduced by half during the workout

    Hi all

I could not find satisfactory answers to this problem, so I thought I'd post my own question. My apologies if someone has already replied.

In 'Other' training (weight lifting), I find measures watch my heartbeat correctly for about 10-15 minutes, then, for another 3-5 minutes, my heart rate is reduced by half, or worse.

After 3-5 minutes, the watch starts recording, which I assume to be the correct heart rate again.

I can't find a pattern, other that happens almost in the middle of my 30-minute workout. My heart rate is measured in the range of 140-170, then it comes down to 50-70 and then back to 140-170 until I finished.

It is a Sport of 42mm watch. I wear the sports Strip properly, no tattoos and I even shaved off part of my forearm to make sure.

Any suggestions? Should I get the replaced watch? Perform a factory reset? Make a small sacrifice to the gods Apple Watch?

    Thank you!

    Hi Richard

Several factors can influence the performance of the detector of heart rate, but it is expected that the sensor will give better results for workouts that involve rhythmic movements (e.g. running) rather irregular activity, such as lifting weights.

Make sure you wear your watch fits on top of your wrist (Apple suggests consider you the clamping Strip before starting a workout and it loosen again subsequently). When weight lifting, it can also help to wear your shows a little further to the top of your arm (away from your wrist in flexion).

It won't hurt (although it can't help, given the nature of the training) to also try restarting your iPhone and your watch:

-Switch off the whole appliance, then restart your iPhone first.

    -To switch off your watch: press and hold the button side until you see the cursor off the power; slide it to turn off;

-To switch on: press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

Also, check that your iPhone and the watch are updated with the latest version of the software:

    - Update the iOS on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch - Apple Support software

    - Update the software on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

If you are still experiencing inconsistent results, consider a matching external monitor / Bluetooth chest strap for your watch.

  • Active calories burned after upgrade of the phone

I have recently updated from an iPhone to an iPhone 5 6. I have not matched my Apple Watch from my old iPhone and paired with a new one. Everything seems to work fine except the assets calories on workout sessions. The number of calories burned is about half of what they were before I changed phones. Someone else had this problem?  Thank you.

HI - try the following steps:

    • Check that your personal information is accurate:
      • On your iPhone, in the application of the watch, go to: My Watch (tab) > health > check and, if necessary, change your date of birth, sex, height and weight.
    • Restart your iPhone and your watch. Close the two devices together, and then restart your iPhone first:
      • To turn off your watch: press and hold the button side until you see the cursor off the power; slide it to turn off;
      • To turn it on: press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
    • While training, to optimize the performance of the heart rate sensor (data from which is used when estimating calories), make sure you wear your watch fits on top of your wrist. Apple suggests that consider you the clamping Strip before starting a workout and it loosen again thereafter.

If the problem persists, it may also help to reset your calibration data and start over:

-On your iPhone, in the application of Eve, go to: My Watch (tab) > privacy > Motion & Fitness > tap reset Calibration data.

To calibrate again, follow the instructions in the article to support below, including:

-Records training outdoor walk and/or run in the open air with the application of the workout on your watch.

-It for 20 minutes at each speed to during which normally walk you or run.

-While doing so, take your iPhone with you, with location-based Services market.

-Allow your arms swinging naturally during the workouts (and also later, by walking or running workouts).

  • Measure calories burned when using drive

    Hello

The question I have is will be your Apple Watch measure speed of combustion of different calories for the same distance at the same time, when to do using workout app as opposed to not use the app to drive?

The reason for the question is that I read by using the training app, Apple Watch switches on the relevant sensors. Does this mean that these other motion detectors are normally off and if that affect the accuracy of the measure of calories burned during exercise?

    Concerning

    Hello

Yes - followed by an open-air market, for example, through the training app can result in a more accurate estimate of your active Calories burned during this activity.

When follow you an activity using the application of the training session and specify a type of activity, your watch uses the most appropriate sensors and data sources to estimate the outcome of this workout.

For example, when you save an open air market:

    • If you also take your iPhone along (with compatible Bluetooth and location Services), your watch can access the GPS of the iPhone data when estimating the PACE and distance.
    • If you do not take your iPhone along, the watch relies on data from the accelerometer in the estimate of the PACE and distance.
    • Data from the heart rate sensor is used during the estimation of the Active Calories, including calculations which are adapted to this type of activity specified.

Calibrate your watch also helps to improve the accuracy of the different estimates made by the activity and workout app app. More information and instructions for calibration of your watch (including to reset all calibration data) are available via the link below. Estimates of the results will also depend on your personal information. To verify that this is correct - and update over time:

    • On your iPhone, in the application of the watch, go to: My Watch tab > health > edit - tap and adjust the settings, then press on in fact.

  • Active measure of calories during the bike ride

    Hello

I do a lot of road cycling and also use my Apple Watch to measure my fitness activity.

I used the option open air training on rides Cycle and it seems good but drain the battery of the watch. I don't really it measure the speed and distance as my Garmin that does very well and is also linked to Strava, but I don't want the watch to measure my year, and the number of calories active.

So, I tried cycling without starting a workout. The watch is a precise measure of the amount of time work, I exercised, but the number of calories burned seem much less than if I used a training to measure the same route.

The question is, which is more accurate? A workout outdoor Cycle or while leaving the watch to do its own thing? I suspect the former. This then begs the question, how shows measure of calories burned.

    Thank you very much

    Phil

    Hi Phil

The external Cycle estimate is more accurate.

When recording a workout outdoor Cycle, Apple Watch esteem Active Energy (calories / kilojoules) using a calculation that is suitable for this type of activity. Apple has not released details of the calculation method.

How to view the monthly/annual statistics in terms of time past/calories burned, broken down by each individual activity such as run elliptical/outside etc. Y at - it a third party application that can help me to collect and display these data?

    Hello

It is not currently possible to review the data the application integrated in activity or training on this basis. If you want Apple to consider adding this feature, you can suggest here:

    https://www.Apple.com/feedback/watch.html

However, health and fitness data from other sources, iPhone, and Apple Watch are registered and grouped within the health on iPhone app. These data can be exported, which you may find useful to track the cumulative progress and/or analyze your activity more in detail.

IPhone app activity also has a button for sharing (top right of the screen) that allows to share data - including social media, Messages, Mail, Notes, and a printer.

Include third-party applications that can be useful, for example:

    Access to QS

-"Access your HealthKit data in a table so you can Explorer using numbers, Excel, R, or any other tool compatible CSV."

Data can also be exported directly from the application of the health (Health Data > All - Share at the top button on the right).

Check the descriptions and support resources for third party applications for supported details of import and data analysis features.

    Hello

To mark a segment (for example one lap) during running exercise using integrated workout app, you can double-click the screen. The display briefly shows the stats for this segment. Segments can be examined after training through the activity on the matched iPhone application:

You can also find that a third-party application meets your needs. To learn about the characteristics of third-party applications, I suggest you consult the descriptions of app developers and their support resources. For example:

If you don't find the specific information you're looking for, you can ask the developer directly. This is usually possible through their support resources (you may need to create a free account in order to be able to connect). They may also be open to feature requests.

  • Concerns about the workouts with the Apple Watch - request for comments and Suggestions

I'm a professional skill that has recently upgraded from a Polar to the Apple Watch.  I am delighted to stop wearing the chest strap of the Polar, but even though I love my new watch, I wish for some improvements in the future.  Training categories are too vague.  When you set up a 'training' on my Apple Watch, which is the step class, I was ANOTHER selection to OPEN.  Others who do?  What others recommend?  And I'm trying to decide whether to use Active or Total calories during the recording of my activities in my Fitbit dashboard.  One last thing, I find it odd to be worked hard and look down to see my heart rate displayed as 60, when I know that it takes more than 130.  I would like to hear from other fitness in mind of people about my problems.  Thank you.

    Hello

When a workout is started, choose the type of activity that best fits the nature of your exercise activity. For any activity other than the named options, select the other (for example, your step class).

The types of activities in the application of the workout on Apple Watch help the watch to determine what sensors / data sources to use in follow-up and evaluate the results of your activity. For example:

-To run in the open air, the watch can use the heart rate sensor, accelerometer integrated and GPS of the iPhone paired (if it is available during the race).

-For inside running (on a treadmill), the watch will be based on the accelerometer to estimate the distance and pace (as GPS data are not relevant).

-Indoor activities, the watch will be based mainly on the frequency heart readings to estimate of burning calories.

The other category is therefore useful (from point of view of the watch) by advising that certain types of activities are not undertaken.

During the follow-up of one exercise using the others, your watch will estimate active calories based on one that is the higher of:

    -L'equivalent of a brisk walk (calories saved on this basis can vary per person, based on their personal information), or;

-The data recorded by the heart rate sensor.

When you use the other, activity app will also credit the ring of progress of exercise with one minute for every minute of the workout.

If you want Apple to consider adding specific types of additional activities for the purpose of the workout, you can suggest that here:

    https://www.Apple.com/feedback/watch.html

All submissions are read (even if you do not expect to receive a response).

  • Total number of calories burned per day?

(Or may) the Apple Watch record total calories burned per day, including not only periods of activity but calories approximately during rest periods? Or is it just them count during training? I am currently using my Apple Watch with a heart rate sensor Polar Bluetooth H7 and would get an estimated number of total calories burned each day compared to my food intake. Y at - it another app, I would need? If so, what would be the most simple for this specific purpose?

    Don't count during training.

"and I would get an estimated number of total calories burned each day compared to my food intake."

No Apple Watch app that can do it.

  • Helps the workout App Display

How to customize the app to drive to show me the heart rate, distance and calories status all on the same screen during an indoor workout?

    Hello

It is not currently possible to display the heart rate, distance and calories status on the same screen when using the app to drive to record an indoor workout.

Training app can currently view your goal and two metrics:

    • The metric of time (top-right):
      • This can be changed by tapping it, switching between the time of day and the elapsed time.
      • For inside and outside running and walking workouts, pace is also available.
      • For an outdoor cycling training, speed is also available.
    • The primary metric:
      • This can be changed by sliding on the side on this subject.
      • Depending on your type of activity, the choice may include: time, active calories, total calories, heart rate, rhythm, speed and distance.
    • The goal:
      • The objective can be considered as a ring of progress or for distance, calories or the time objectives, as a metric.
      • On your iPhone, in the application of the watch, go to: My Watch (tab) > training > turn on show metric goal.

However, note that watch OS 3 - coming this fall / fall - allows you to view up to 5 parameters of training at a time without having to swipe: distance, pace, calories, heart rate active and out of time.

I use the app to drive regularly.  I want to add to the looks so that I don't have to find it in the list of applications.  It would be much easier.  Why can't this app added to the looks?

  • Why my Apple Watch is constantly with the application of the workout and kill my battery

Since the last Watch 2.0 update my watch is constantly showing the little running man at the top of the watch.  He seems to think that I work constantly and telling me I'm burning crazy amounts of calories (pretty sure he thinks that my train ride is me currently underway).  For not to mention my battery dies quickly.  I started the day at 630 with 100% of battery, the green light on my wrist has served all day and my battery is at 13%.  How can I fix this.  I have not matched the watch and combined with new, but that solves nothing.  Any help would be appreciated since my watch is basically useless at this point.

    Hi Steve

Green rider icon indicates that your watch has currently underway training.

You can currently get a workout paused in the application of the workout or a third-party (for example, Strava) fitness application.

If you have used Strava or any other third-party application, you must put an end to the activity via this application on your watch (not on your iPhone).

  • I have problem with my Apple Watch, during the step count of the market does not appear on the watch?

I have a problem with my Apple Watch, when I use the watch on my treadmill, keep the phone, the number of step does not appear, the whole market is a waste if it shows only not on Apple Watch, how to solve this problem?

    Hi Shabbir

Apple Watch has two integrated health and fitness apps: enforcement activity and the application of the workout. For best results, make sure your arms naturally swings while walking on the treadmill, as Apple Watch uses movement of arm (measured by the built-in accelerometer) to track and evaluate movement for indoor activities. If you use the application of the training session, your watch will also measure your heart rate continuously for training in order to estimate the calories burned.

Check that you have configured the application of the activity:

-Press the rings activity on your watch dial or open the application for the activity (if you have not set it upwards, you will be prompted to answer a few questions).

Also, make sure that the fitness of tracking is enabled:

-On your iPhone, in the application of Eve, go to: Watch My > privacy > Motion & Fitness > fitness monitoring.

You can improve the accuracy of the estimates related to activity in calibrating Apple Watch (take your iPhone with you on walks outdoors or tracks, connected to your Apple Watch and with location enabled Services - see the detailed instructions in the article to support below).
