Can alternative text applies paragraphs, tabs, styles?

1. is it possible to apply paragraph returns, or tabs or text styles to text in settings to create alternative text keyboard shortcuts, for example, an address 2 line:

123 Main Street

New York, NY 100012

In Word, for example or some macro programs, use ^ p to create a paragraph return. So, to create the address 2 line above, you would type in your chain or the macro:

123 main Street ^ York, NY 100012 pNew

BTW, tab = ^ t

--------

2 as we talk about shortcuts, I noticed for some time that we cannot use macros to the entry of passwords in the password fields all the time now. Looks like it would be to keep the entries by robots? Or is there a way to get around this, then we can use macros to enter passwords in the password fields?

Thank you

STeven

On an iPad? Incredibly, Yes and no.

I put 123 Main St. And then filled with spaces up to 123 Main St has gone on the left and then put New York. Then NY as my shortcut.

It opens correctly in the Notes but here and in the email open like that. 123 main St. New York City

In the Notes application.

  • Apply to a Style object that defines the style of paragraph and 'paragraph style' to the text block with another block of text?

    I am trying to automate the application of styles in a brochure. Each image has a name, title, telephone, email, city... style paragraph.

    Can I apply an object style that instantly sets the styles of each paragraph. However if I have the linked text boxes, the style of the object does not seem to affect the block of text, or one of the text boxes. Is there a way to get around this?

    I just looked upward: this feature is limited to "simple, smooth text frames."

    I'm sorry.

  • Apply the character style to the part of the paragraph

    I am inserting text in a block of text with the following code:

    story.insertionPoints [-1] .silence += pgfStr;

    story.insertionPoints [-1] .silence += "\t";

    story.insertionPoints [-1] .silence += refStr;

    story.insertionPoints [-1] .silence += "\r";

    I want to apply the character style to all of the text in refStr (only the part of this paragraph). I know how the syling paragraph applies to the entire paragraph, but not a character style. I should be grateful if you would help. Thank you!

    Hello

    Dan - BTP says:

    ... the size in points and attack can be different on each page...

    You are able to find a rule of these differences?

    ...

    What do depends on what type of rule could be defined

    ...

    The size of reference point that is 1.5 PT lower than the point size of the paragraph, whatever.

    Close to the end of the script, you can code for example:

         // Your target is "reference" which is a text inbetween tabulator and end of story (or other criteria).
         //     So you could define:
    app.findGrepPreferences = null; // just for clear it
    app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = "(?<=\\t).+\\s\\Z"; // to catch text following tab in last para of story
         //     and after:
    mFound = app.activeDocument.findGrep();
         // so all desired text objects are in an array "mFound".
         // you could iterate (backward) through it:
    len = mFound.length;
    while (len-->0) // ">0" in case of nothing found
         mFound[len].pointSize -= 1.5;

         // whatever that is - is 1.5 smaller

  • Use GREP to apply paragraph styles, character styles not only

    I have a body of text, and in it, I would like to apply a specific style to the paragraphs corresponding to a model. I did a GREP style that applied some changes formatting of paragraphs, I tried that it affects, but in doing so, I found that I couldn't Center these lines using a character style. (The corresponding lines should be centered, and the rest should be left aligned.)

    I was thrilled to learn that the GREP function, then completely disappointed with this limitation. InDesign offers the possibility to automate this, so I must not cross and Center each paragraph corresponding to the hand?

    Thank you!

    InDesign provides a way to automate this so?

    Yes and no. There is no dynamically linked paragraph styles to a paragraph about his boss, but he has at least two alternatives:

    (1) use Grep-F/C

    (2) use the script FindChangeByList or MultiFindChange which is basically automate operations F/C

  • How can I automatically insert a two paragraph after paragraph marks (¶) style?

    Sversion hort on the issue:

    How can I make 2015.4 InDesign automatically inserts a paragraph style (in this case, the style is a paragraph separator bar) after two consecutive paragraph marks appear in a linked Word file?

    Long version of the question:

    I manage a large number of product labels for my employer. I created Word files containing the necessary indications, warnings, first aid, and the news of immersion for each product. I want to be able to place the Word file in the layouts of the label, and I hope that InDesign can insert a paragraph style that I created after two consecutive points of paragraph (¶). The paragraph in question style is a paragraph dividing bar which occupies about 85% of the width of the text box. I tried to create the bar directly in the files of words themselves, but apparently not good

    An approximate example of what I'm trying to say:

    (Although the Word file would look like with on special characters)

    Nihilin tem live sedessi ntrurorum prionteludam quam optilnequi pecre conicat than pul hem omprio, caectuite autem, cum itemuli pat. SCII confirma ina, quitilii patquem teribus?

    (Would I want InDesign to do)

    Is it possible to implement something like this?

    Thanks for your suggestions or help!

    If the empty paragraphs in Word (with just the paragraph return) have a Style applied, and paragraphs with text also have a Style applied, the answer is Yes.

    When you place the Word text in InDesign, maintain the formatting of the word and use matching Style. This allows you to take the text that contains the Styles applied Word and InDesign can automatically apply your corresponding InDesign Styles.

  • Is it possible to add text to the cells and apply the character style in the cell

    I work in InDesign on Mac 5.

    I have two tables of formatting with information that will be eventually combined. I implemented the scripts I found on these forums to add the columns needed, merge lines and fill the cells merged with the appropriate color, but can't two remaining tasks.

    1. is it possible to add text to a cell of some?

    2 and it is possible to apply a character style to cells? (different cells than those that I need to add some text)

    I played with this code but do not know if it is even close...

    {

    table. Rows [0]. Cells [0]. InsertText (' CS/PS");

    }

    {

    table. Rows [0]. Cells [0] .appliedCharacterStyle ("bold");

    }

    Here are the scripts that I have combined so far for the table...

    Add column

    myTable = app.selection [0];

    MyColumn = myTable.columns [1];

    for (a = 0; < 1; a ++)

    {

    myTable.columns.add (LocationOptions.AFTER, myColumn);

    }

    Merge lines

    table = app.selection [0];

    If (table.hasOwnProperty ("baseline") table) = table.parent;

    If (instanceof cell table) table = table.parent;

    If (instanceof column table) table = table.parent;

    If (instanceof row table) table = table.parent;

    If (instanceof Table table)

    {

    table. Rows [0]. Cells [0]. Merge (table.rows [0] .cells [1]);

    }

    {

    colours alternating in merged lines

    r = table.rows [1];

    n = app.activeDocument.swatches.item ("orange");

    b = app.activeDocument.swatches.item ("PANTONE 3005 C");

    for (c = 0; c < r.cells.length; c ++)

    {

    If (c & 1)

    r.Cells [c]. Properties = {fillColor:b};

    on the other

    r.Cells [c]. FillColor = n;

    }

    }

    Hello

    1. If you want to add the text, go further in:

    table. Rows [0]. Cells [0] .insertionPoints [0] .silence = ' CS/PS;

    2 similar with application of styles:

    table. Rows [0]. Cells [0] .texts [0] .appliedCharacterStyle = "bold" / / If this style is present in your doc

  • How to avoid overwriting the italics when you apply paragraph styles?

    First of all, let me say thank you to the community of Adobe's Forum for the great help over the years! You Rock! 9 times out of 10 you nail!

    OK, so I have a long document full of italics, bold and accents. Successfully, I imported the text in MS Word and kept these text features using the import options. But now, when I go to apply paragraph styles, the italics are lost. Is it possible to implement paragraph styles so that they maintain Roman, italic, bold and also special characters like accents? Thank you!

    Hi David: I just put upward (and record) queries for search/replace that I of course after you import all text. For example, I have one that is italic in the document and it goes to a character called italic style. Once I saved queries, it is very fast to run on all the stories at the same time. And once the local formatting is managed through character styles, it is intact by assigning paragraph styles.

  • Help with a script to search for text in a table cell and apply the cell style

    Hello

    I build the script which Jongware wrote in his post here http://indesignsecrets.com/tackling-tables-through-scripting.php - I am trying to create a variable in which I can add a number of different parts of the text, in this case it's different parts of the United Kingdom i.e. 'London', 'East', 'Scotland' etc. I just need the script to apply the cell Style - 'District Cell' - to any cell that contains text in the variable. Here's the script, if anyone can help I would be grateful.

    function checkWhichTable()
    {
    // ensure the user made a selection

    currentTable = currentTable.parent;
    if (!(currentTable instanceof Table))

    }
    return currentTable;

    var a_table = checkWhichTable();
    if (a_table == null)
    {
    if (confirm("No table selected. Do you want to process *all* tables?") == false)
    return;
    allTables = app.activeDocument.stories.everyItem().tables.everyItem().getElements();
    for (aTable=0; aTable<allTables.length; aTable++)
    {
    processTable (allTables[aTable]);
    }
    } else
    {
    processTable (a_table);
    }
    }

    table.cells[i].appliedCellStyle = "District Cell";

    Change this feature:

    function processTable(table)

  • Apply the character Style to a few characters in a paragraph

    Hey,.

    Me again - I feel like I'm dumber than a shoe trying to script InDesign

    I have a block of text with several paragraphs, which I am adding one by one.

    When adding these paragraphs, sometimes I need to apply a character style to some of the characters in the paragraph (I have the clues start and end of these characters to the text of the paragraph).

    Using the Guide of the script and the object reference, I cooked up this code below, but not only it doesn't seem to find the character style, she also told me the. itemByRange() is not a function...

    What's wrong?

    var line_styles = [{
        'start': 22,
        'end': 33,
        'style': 'Price - SKU'
    }];

    frame.contents += "\r" + line_text;
    frame.parentStory.paragraphs[-1].applyParagraphStyle(style);

    for ( var j = 0, k = line_styles.length; j < k; j++ ) {
        var char_style = doc.characterStyles.item(line_styles[j].style);
        frame.parentStory.paragraphs[-1].itemByRange(
            line_styles[j].start,
            line_styles[j].end
        ).applyCharacterStyle(char_style, true);
    }

    frame.parentStory.paragraphs[-1].itemByRange(...

    does not compute. "paragraphs [-1]" points to a single paragraph and is not an itemByRange method. You must think of sth like

    frame.parentStory.paragraphs[-1].characters.itemByRange(...

    (Have you used another programming language Javascript front?) A matter of concern for the future: pay attention to your statements 'var '. They do not follow the block scope, as they do in other languages, and therefore persisted in this notation is very likely to bite you back somewhere in the future. • How can I apply a new style with an excerpt and DW artifact of the old style?

    Hello

    I use Dreamweaver CS5 in Windows XP SP3. My problem seems simple, but the resolution remains elusive.

    Let's say I'm stuck-in editing the text in MS Word that DW auto-formaté. I highlight text and use a clip to attach the text of the h2.

    Rather than delete the old style and its replacement by h2, DW applies the h2, but copy the old style, enclosing nothing and it bumps to the next line. If the old style included a paragraph tag, which flows into the extra space. For anything.

    Now, this seems to be a minor thing, but it is not so little, when you try to quickly prepare a large document with different header styles. Having to make dozens of changes that, in my view, should be completely useless becomes a burden.

    Is it possible to attach some text in a new style with an excerpt without the old style of stick around?
