  Open Acrobat DC, navigate to the Edit-> Preferences-> General-> uncheck "Open Documents in a new tab in the same window.

  Restart your system & now try opening the files.

  One of my users try to modify a PDF file that does not currently have recognizable text. I understand that if nothing are recognized that you can't modify it until you run OCR.

  Although my agreement with Adobe Acrobat DC after choosing 'Edit PDF' Acrobat will automatically recognize the text on the first page to make it editable, even if for my user after choosing 'Edit PDF' they receive this error message:

  

  If I try the same process with the same document Adobe Acrobat Pro DC program automatically recognize the first page and make it editable.

  So my question is: is this problem that may occur because we are using Adobe Acrobat Standard? I tried to look at your site in order to know what are the features do not come with Adobe Acrobat Standard DC, but could not find information on OCRing records automatically.

  I recently updated my adobe reader of adobe acrobat dc software and since then I can't open old pdf files in my phone. The new I have download open very well, but the 'old' simply disappeared. The only files I can see are the ones I downloaded after the app was updated and listed in the recent page.

  I tried to open my old pdf files by clicking on the floating in the recent page, folder icon which brings me to my download folder in my phone. After clicking on a pdf file, a dialog opens saying that adobe will create a local copy of the document. After I click on continue, it will say that the file is not accessible, and ask me to check the location, or the network (pdf files have been listed by the app on the record of downloads on my phone). I also tried to open my this phone Download Manager. She'll tell me first of all the file was not found, in which I will be download again, but the app says that it cannot be opened because it is not a valid pdf file. How can that be true when it opens fine until I updated the app?  All my old pdf files are also not detected automatically by the application, which was the only feature that I liked so much about the old version of Adobe reader. What should I do to open my old pdf files that are in my phone?

  I had Adobe Reader X with this problem then uninstalled X, then installed Adobe Reader XI and again I cannot complete downloads of PDFs on the Explorer of Windows 8 with on the page of document explore downloader crashing.   I FIXED IT...

  The problem was that we could tell a free Adobe reader conflict. The software would not shut down all instances. He just wouldn't leave, time I had turned off my PC or other. If I tried to run one instance of the software Adobe reader then failed, then tried again, the number of times I've tried always would continue and would not stop trying to 'end task' with the 'Task Manager' in the section 'process', then when I managed moreover to 'process' was more in the "Details" section of 'Task Manager' who wouldn't stop!

  I down loaded "Acrobat Cleaner" and he ran immediately by selecting Adobe Reader to delete, after starting my PC and he took all the facilities.

  I then proceeded to find the files of all the other "Adobe Reader" downloaded and just trained to the trash.

  It gave me the chance to make a very clean install, and it worked with out faltering.

  If you are having problems, do a cleaning of Adobe Reader of all the old versions and install one that is suitable for your computer.

  Acrobat Reader now load very fast, like I mean very soon!

  Bernd, these rights are not necessary to the reader XI. Unless the file has been secured, then it should be savable.

  I recommend that upgrade you to the latest version of the XI player that is available and if this does not work, try to run a repair installation (or upgrade to DC).
