Can I connect an Ethernet cable from my MacBook to a PC to give it an Internet connection?

So I had an office with no Wi - Fi. Can I connect my MacBook 2010 to it with a cable ethernet and who give the computer, an internet connection?

You should be able to share an internet connection via Ethernet. See if there is

items applicable to support when you search help in the OS X menu.

Some control parameters must be enabled; some by default are not ready.

And for the connection remains active, the host cannot go to sleep or be cut off.

Your Internet ISP provides a modem that has an additional Ethernet port? If it is

of the correct type, it can be a direct way to set up a second computer by cable.

Good luck!

  • How can I move music and photos from my MacBook on an external hard drive, files without deleting the existing NTFS files stored on it?

    Hello.

I am aware that this issue (or different versions of it) will be requested a thousand times before, but after searching on the internet for a solution, I have been unable to find all the information that brings a simple clear answer that is specific to my problem and so thought I would ask the question myself.

I recently bought a Toshiba 1 TB external hard drive to transfer music, photo files and internal document in front of the memory of my old PC running Windows, as well as files, music and photos from my existing MacBook Pro, so I can "release" the memory on the latter.

Transfer files from the old PC proved to be easy; success achieved by simple drag / drop the files to the appropriate location on the external HD icon of Toshiba which appears once I connected to a USB port. It is perhaps worth mentioning that the area of States hard drive has been formatted NTFS for Windows, and so I guess that I would not have expected any problems when transferred to a PC.

Move the files from my MacBook has however proved anything but simple and trying to drag the respective music and photo files and drop them on the HD Toshiba icon (which appears on my desktop once it is plugged), I seem to be affected by the same issues as so much seems to have it before me, in that "forbidden access" / error symbol appears with the cursor , and bounce the files to their original location whenever I try to place them on the Toshiba HD.

I understand that this is due to the HD is formatted in NTFS, and that I would need to reformat the hard drive to move files from my MacBook, which brings me to my questions:-

    (a) how do I do this, and

    (b) can I do this without losing, damage or remove the NTFS files from my old PC, which are already stored on the external hard drive.

If one is able to offer any assistance, in the most simple, easy to follow the description, I would be really grateful!

Never been so thanks in advance!

1 install software such as Paragon NTFS on the Mac and let the reader in its current form or from the Finder, choose utilities go to menu, open disk utility and reformat.

    2. that by putting a copy on another drive. You should do this anyway, in case of failure of this drive.

  • Can not connect Equium M70 to the Internet via an Ethernet cable

I have recently install wide telewest broadband via the installation disc. I used the provided ethernet cable. During installation, I received an error message stating that it could not connect due to various problems.
After a long discussion with the customer service and try several solutions over the phone we wouldn't always get connection using the ethernet cable.
Telewest has also provided a USB cable so I was told to remove the ethernet connection and plug in the USB. The connection has been made instantly.

Has been informed by the technical support of Telewest, that I had a problem ethernet on the laptop. This could be correct, or maybe it was an ethernet cable from the spleen.
Any suggestions? My laptop is only four months.

    Hello

It is not easy to believe that the network adapter does not work on your laptop. What is the status of LAN in Device Manager? When the cable is connected is the assets of orange or green led or not? Try also to start ConfigFree tool. Under the physician connectivity tab, you can see their actual situation and if there is a problem of communication it will be shown here.

If there is any attempt of trying to test it on another network (perhaps in your company).
You can also contact your dealer and allow it to check the device. It can be done in the store and may not take a lot of time.

  • Why can't connect me to wifi without ethernet cable

I can't connect to my wifi, unless my ethernet is pluged in... I'm using VGN-NS135E n OS is Windows 7

It's a little hard to follow, but I'm guessing that you mean that you get only Internet when wired with an Ethernet cable from your router to your laptop and wireless WiFi doesn't at all?  Or do you mean that you get a wireless connection only when an Ethernet cable not connected what whatsoever, is plugged into the Ethernet port on your laptop?

  • NB100 - unable to connect with the ethernet cable

My netbook works very well with the wireless connection (even if I get only 4 MB when I have 10 MB connection). I visited a House of friends the other day and she does not have a wireless router.

I plugged the cable broadand on my machine. I disabled the wireless connection and activated the network connection in network connections. I turned off then the feature wireless on the keyboard with the keys Fn & F1.

It shows that there is a link in my taskbar, but when I try to open the internet it does not connect.

I thought it was his connection because she had problems so today I went to another friends house and got exactly the same response.

I decided to try the same thing at home and I disconnected the ethernet cable from my wireless router and performed the steps listed above.

Still no joy - am I missing something?

    Tips:

Use a static IP address, and not using DHCP.
Disable your firewall. It can block the network connection.
Disable network cards won't do not. If you use wired LAN, turn off wireless and Bluetooth in the Device Manager.
Check if their ISP requires a power of Attorney, if they don't, specify the Proxy and Port in your browser settings.

  • No internet connection with C6300 only cable modem/router - No. Ethernet cable plugged

About once or twice a week I wake up my desktop PC and see an icon (bottom right) which indicates that I have no internet connection. When I run the troubleshooter network (right-click on the icon) it says to plug in my ethernet cable. I replaced the cable with another know good cable, but the problem continues to return (though intermittently). If I unplug the ethernet cable from the port of my C6300 Netgear and plug it back in the same or another port, the internet connection is restored. I'm on Windows 10 edition 64 - bit OS on my desktop tower PC (Dell). My internet provider is Cox Communications through their cable with up to 100 Mbps of speed. My Netgear firmware version is V1.02.20 to help you can provide me to solve this problem would be appreciated.

Well, it has been a few weeks of performance without error since I replaced the Netgear C6300. So I close this investigation as "FIXED."

  • WRT54G2 can not connect another computer

I don't know what I'm doing. I have the router configured on this desktop very well, but he is hooked via the modem to it.  I have also the Wii work through a router very well.  How can I get my other office to connect through the router to get internet connection too?

Is the desktop computer you want to connect to the router there a wired or wireless. If this is a thread, then you plug the Ethernet cable from your desktop computer to the router and you will be able to go online.

If your desktop computer is a wireless network, you must locate the "Wireless network connection" icon, it will be in the system tray, right-click on it and select "View available Wireless Network"... Select your wireless network... If your network is secured then it will ask you the security key and click Connect. Once you are connected to your wireless network, open your Web browser on your computer and check if you are online.

  • I have been connected to the internet (wireless), then I unplugged the router and now I can not connect to internet. I tried diagnose the problem, but he said that he could not.

I have a wireless internet connection for my laptop. I was connected to the internet, and it worked very well, so I had to unplug my router and all of a sudden I can't connect to the internet more. When I open the available networks, I hit connect on mine and he said: it does not work then I hit "diagnose the problem" and then, he says he can't. Also it is not even give me the option to set my password to connect to my network, but it does when I try to connect to any other.

I suggest to unplug all your network cables and unplug the adapter from your modem AND router. ONLY plug your modem back power adapter in. Wait until you get a steady green light on your router, which indicates that it is ready. Then, connect the ethernet cable from your modem to your router INTERNET port. Connect the ethernet cable from your computer to any other ETHERNET port on your router. Finally turn the monitor for your router.

If you do not do so in this order, the router can not connect properly to the internet because it doesn't have the correct IP address of your modem.

  • How can I connect two screens for MacBook Air (mid-2012)

I have a macbook air (mid-2012) which, according to apple, can support two external displays.  I have an external display connected to the thunderbolt port, but may not know how to connect to the other?  The mac has only a thunderbolt port?  It has two usb ports.  Is there a thunderbolt display port separator that works with this Apple?  When I look on amazon I see some who make the separation, but they say that they do not work with the Mac?  Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance!

You can daisy chain a thunderbolt cable from the first screen to a second screen to support both with port of a sudden lightning. Reported here.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I really would like some clarification.

Yes, just unplug the cable at both ends and store it in the desk drawer.

Is it OK to let the CAT6 connected to the CT for later use or can it have negative effects?

Fine to leave it connected if you want for as long as you want.

Unplug the Ethernet cable before you configure the wireless connection.  Activate the Wireless 'off' when you want to reconnect the Ethernet cable.

  • What is a substitute for the migration assistant? I tried in vain for three hours to migrate files from a macbook pro to each other so that even if connected with the ethernet cable the computers never see each other.

What is a substitute for the migration assistant? I tried in vain for three hours to migrate files from a macbook pro to each other so that even if connected with the ethernet cable the computers never see each other.

You can connect otherwise?  USB or FireWire or love at first sight?  You can connect both machines and start the one you want to transfer to target disk mode.  If your other machine is up and running with an account on it and you just want to move files, you can simply drag and drop the FRO the machine mounted TDM, or you can use the migration wizard.

Or, if the other machine still starts and runs, you can start both computers and connect to the same wifi network and share the hard drive like machines on the network.  Access them in the finder on the new machine files and drag-and - drop, or use the wizard migration, on wifi.

  • Can I connect my Airport Extreme base station via an ethernet cable to a counter of locus?

Can I use my Airport Express (802.11n Wi - Fi) to connect with an ethernet cable, a locus counter that is used with a solar panel inverter?  Currently I use the hotspot to connect two different Mac computers and an Ipad.  Sungevity, Setup, told me that the signal must go in a direction of my locus meter satellite modem.  Sungevity also told me that if I can hard wire any device (such as a computer) directly from my Airport, I should also be able to do the same with the meter of locus.  Has anyone tried this before?

    Thank you.

    North Country Boy

What is the AirPort Express you have?

As you test, turn off the WiFi on a computer and then connect the computer to the local network <-->port on the AirPort Express using an Ethernet cable to see if the computer can get a good connection Internet in this way?

If he CAN... and if the people of support for your solar panels have provided the correct information... then the meter will work.

I just loaded windows XP on my old tower. I have an ethernet cable connected to my modem, but I can't establish an internet connection.

You are welcome for the answer. You will need to use a cd/dvd drive or a removable media like a flash/USB device to transfer the file on the computer in question. You can download the LOM Broadcom 10/100 Ethernet controller driver from HERE.
