But it's in the recovery disk... If I install it, my hard drive will be formatted and become the only partition...
If I install the vista Home premium (downloaded from the internet) and enter my laptop product key, * is it make real *... ?

    Hello

To be honest, I don't understand what your question is.
Why you want to install downloaded Vista Home Premium if you already have one with your laptop?

Recovery image is complete with all the drivers, tools and utility, but if you install OS naked, then you have lots to installing of all Toshiba stuff in the hope, everything will be OK.
Installation of recovery can be done on two tracks:

Help of created recovery DVD *.
In this case the whole HARD disk will be formatted and all your data will be gone, but you certainly get it with two partitions. Folder HDDRecovery there again on the second partition.

    * Using the recovery disk (F8) procedure *.
If you do this just first partition (C) is deleted. All the data on the second partition will be there again.

So please let me know what is your problem exactly and what you want to do.

  • Why 2 partitions of OS on HP dv9628 laptop computer under Vista Home Premium?

I was just checking my wife of the older HP Pavilion dv9628nr under Vista Home Premium with 2 HARD drives.  I didn't even know he had 2 HARD drives.  I opened the case to make sure.

Here is a screenshot of disk for system management.  I have a few questions:

    1. Why is there a system operating on each HARD drive partition?

2 are 2 necessary and deleted maybe?

Generally however, the C: drive is not always your primary. This may change if based on the installation program. The installer in this book, could be Raid. This is where the 2 drives are used to create a combined drive. Based on the laptop being adverstised as a drive of 240 GB, but with 2 120 GB drives in it. This is most likely how it was setup. To know for sure you'd have to check to see if this feature is enabled in the BIOS.  Before you change any settings that you would like to make sure that you have recovery discs and backed up all the content. As having the OS on a single disk, you will need to disable Raid in bios and probably to format both drives. Then reinstall the operating system on you get (the one listed as C:, to avoid complications).

This article (from ehow.com) can help with your Bios check, so that you can see if Raid is enabled and if you choose to disable. How to disable Raid BIOS

I hope you're able to help.

Original title: Vista to Win 7 to win 10

I have a laptop with Vista Home Premium installed.  My plan is to install Win 7 and then move on to Win 10.  I have a new full version of Windows 7 Pro SP1 with an activation key.  I have experience update to Win 10 of Win 7, but worry about the installation of Win 7 over Vista.  I guess I have to do a clean install.  There is no problem to meet the minimum requirements of 10.  Can someone give me some advice on the start-up of the conversion of Win 7?  Just insert the disk?  Everything has been backed up and it's ready to go!  Thank you.

Since the family migration to Windows Vista Premium to Windows 7 Professional it will install a clean place, why not simply use your Windows 7 Professional product key to perform a custom Windows 10 Pro install from the go?

I don't see the need to bother installing Windows 7 Professional.

  • Spanish version of Windows for a more laptop under Vista Home

Hi, I have a laptop of 6 years I want to donate to Spanish speakers here in Ecuador.  It runs Vista Home, whose English is the parent language.  I'm interested in loading any possible form of Windows which is in Spanish, if this means upgrade to another version or change the language of the current version.  I met obstacles in all directions that I tried.  From what I found, I can't change the language unless I update, Vista Ultimate or 7 Ultimate, or Windows 8.  But I can't find or the other of the first two, and for the third, the site said I can't get Vista to Windows 8.1.  Does anyone know a way to get to a Spanish Windows operating system from Vista Home?  Otherwise, I can't give a good machine for Spanish-speakers that pena!  The machine is a gateway that has sufficient features for Windows 8.  Thanks for any help.

    Jerome

    Hello

You buy Vista Ultimate Upgrade language English > install it > then download the Packs of languages via optional updates.

And Microsoft sells more than Vista or Windows 7.

Amazon is the only 'safe' to buy it.

And no matter if you have Vista or Windows 7 Ultimate, you will have to pay for it

And it seems that your machine is not Compatible Windows 8.

    See you soon.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

  • My 4 year, Dell inspiron 1525 laptop with Vista Home premium preinstalled windows keeps freezing almost as soon as it starts

about the only way I can do anything, it is to run in SafeMode w / Networking command. When this first happened I thought maybe he had a virus an update of windows at first, so I updated & ran security essentials about 6 times when, which did not find anything, I then tried to install the defenders but could not install said I needed Silverlight installed so I tried to install it but who did not want to install so finally after more than a month of try me several times a day to give me a try. My fiancee and another roommate both said that it had to be a virus. And that one of them fix it since I couldn't.  Then they both tried for a week each so he can not constantly freeze as soon as it would boot up to the windows system screen system restore when I haven't tried had no restore points when I tried this return back.

And now, it freezes not as quick, but when they did a system restore it says now that I need to reactivate my copy of windows but now here's my new problem when the laptop was sent to a new hard drive that they also gave me a new external case but am not currently able to read my key product code at the top of the bottom of my laptop , And it came with a copy preinstalled and stupid, I didn't find the product key code when I bought the laptop from Best Buys. Hi tdigiannurio,

Thanks for posting your questions to answers.microsoft.com

Here is some information that should help you with this error.

If you receive the 8007000 b error when you try to install Windows Vista updates, the Windows file system transaction log is damaged. The transaction log is used by the Windows file system to recover when a file error occurs. To correct this error of update, you clear the log. Here's how:

To clear the file system transaction log

    1.

Click the Start button. In the Search box, type command prompt, and then, in the list of results, right-click command promptand then click run as administrator.

    2.

In the command prompt window, type fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\. (This assumes that C: is the drive on which Windows Vista is installed. If Windows is installed on another drive, change the drive accordingly letter.)

    3.

    Restart your computer.

    4.

Download and install the update again.

If the problem persists after you follow the steps above, go to the Center of Support Windows Update website to try to find more information about the error code or to request support by e mail.

    Hello
I am struggling to move files from my PC of antique desk whose memory tracks 512meg W98SE via a generic (freebie) stick to my laptop XPS from Dell. The memory stick works.
I installed a generic USB driver on the old PC, but not deleted my existing usb drivers. Still, the old pc isn't recognizing the memory stick.
I received a suggestion that i've got FAT16 on old pc so not recognize FAT32 usb key. If I run the utility to change the hard disk from fat16 to fat32 how to avoid the risk of losing valuable pictures of family etc?
The old PC has only a single read CD rom for backup on cd is not an option.
Assuming that this forum can provide a solution to save files to the drive c on the memory stick, my Vista laptop will be able to pick up the FAT32 files?
    Here's hoping. Thank you.

Best solution - pull the hard drive out of the old machine and put it in a USB external hard drive enclosure/adapter. Who join the new Vista machine and simply copy your files on. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
